Chase Coffman for TE. 2nd or 3rd round.
billybob replied to TC in St. Louis's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Guys on this board, Bag too much on Vernon Davis- Does he suck for a 6th overall pick, yes!!! but that's on SF's front office- Just like I don't blame Whitner I blame the Bills for taking him with the 8th overall- Davis is just 24 and a much better blocker than Royal, I'd have no problem giving a 3rd rounder for him. -
Edwards and the Offseason
billybob replied to Glass To The Arson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
1. yes and he needs to find out how to keep that muscle and strength through the whole season you can tell he lost weight as the season went on, I bet he was down to 210 by the end. 2. Jason Brown C and Chris Kemoeatu G would do wonders. 3. Who we take in the draft will depend on FA and who's available at our pick - DE, C, TE, LB, DT, and S are all needs 4. The Bill's will want to see if Hardy or Johnson can step up 5. The book on Steve Johnson is he lacks great speed or huge size- he has very good hands, is strong, runs good routes, and so on- he has a lot of the same qualities as Josh Reed but he is 4 inches taller- I think he could be a pretty good #2 but can he beat out Reeds experience or Hardy's status as a 2nd round pick- I doubt it - unless injuries force the Bills hand like with Greer. -

Well Duh..... also any moves in free Agency will have an effect on how the draft will go..... are you trying to say speculation is pointless, it is, but so is football and sports in general, and yet here we are. -
And with the 11th Pick in the 2009 NFL Draft
billybob replied to Nightcrawler's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
agreed - overall he's the best- pass rushing, pass defending, run stuffing, chasing from the back side, open field tackles, and good hands and ball skills- some LBs might do one or two things better but he does everything so very very well. -

This correct WRs and DEs seem to take the longest- QB use to be the longest but now they just throw them in, maybe cause they don't call their own plays- LBs and RBs usually develop the quickest -
You can only trade Peters if you think you have a player who can at least hold their own at LT- If you thought Bell was going to be a stud or you knew you could get that player in FA- and you also have to get reasonable value for Peters which I personally rate a 2200 points on the draft trade value chart the equivalent of a third overall pick- he's a two time probowl player at a premium position, still young with upside, no learning curve needed, and should give you at least 5 seasons of prime time playing- I take some points away because he's been injured two years in a row at the end of the year.

First year he was a fatty -
The bills draft can be split into three parts 1st and 2nd round picks which have been worse than a guy off the street picking with a draft guide, 3rd round has been a toss up, and 4-7 has been pretty good. I've wondered if Wilson, Levy, Juaron, and our old friend Tommy D - didn't have the most say in the first 2 rounds and Modrak didn't have his way in the later rounds.

first year around 300, next year played around 285, then got down to 275 which he played at for a number years, then he went down to 265 after hurting his knee which is where I think he ended his career. -

to say Peters value is a 1st and 3rd is to say nothing - it could be just a 1st if the 1st is in the top 3 or it could be a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th if those picks are all in the bottom of their round. -
you can see some highlights if you look under the name Ziggy Hood- the guy makes some nice plays but he doesn't stand out as a Size/Speed guy, of course neither did Pat Williams

I like the trade with Detroit except I want the 1st and 3rd they got from Dallas and their own 2nd.

I agree center is a strong need and Mack looks like a very good center- but the Bills could get Jason Brown in FA- or the Bills could trade down and get Mack- or they could trade picks to get back to the bottom of the first and get Mack. -

Not a lovefest but maybe a marriage of convenience - Crowell signs a one year contract at a reasonable price- so he can show that he's recovered from surgery- the Bills get an upgrade at LB at minimum expense. -

A Jason Peters trade only makes sense if two things occur - you can man the LT position with someone who can at least hold their own- you'd have to think that Bell has the stuff or that you can get a reasonable player in FA - the second thing is you have to be able to get around equivalent value for him, which I rate as 2200 points on the NFL draft trade value chart- People on this board talks as if 1st round picks are equivalent- they are not - the first overall pick is worth more than the bottom 4 1st round picks put together - The teams that would make the most sense are Philly who holds their own pick and the Panthers 1st round pick, Philly's two starting OTs are both going into FA and are both in serious decline- the backup is Winston Justice who has been a disappointment to say the least- the other team is Detroit who desperately needs LT but who would like to use the first overall pick on a QB- they have Dallas's 1st and 3rd, I would want their Dallas 1st and 3rd and their own 2nd for Peters. -

you crack me up- of course Barnes isn't that good if he was the Bills wouldn't have a shot at him- But he is young, has a lot of experience at LT, Had a very good rookie year, meets the Physical standards, and has been on the strait and narrow for the last year and a half- I love this board if you mention anyone good they say you're stupid the Bills would never get him, If you look for guys who haven't been that great but might have upside, they say you're stupid he sucks. -
"Are You Pumped For Year Four of Jauron?"
billybob replied to Lori's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Tell you the truth, I don't believe in firing people just to get rid of them, coaches or players- I believe in finding better people first then getting rid of coaches and players- Did Ralph do that? did Ralph reach out to two or three coaches who he was sure could do a better job and get shut down?- if that was what Ralph did then I agree with him, no sense in getting another loser just for the sake of change- or did Ralph decide to be lazy and stick to the comfortable, if that is the case the guy deserves no respect. -
Aaron Curry OLB, Rey Manualuga ILB, and Michael Johnson DE were all picked twice- Greg Hardy DE, Brian Orakpo DE, Everett Brown OLB/DE and Jermaine Gresham TE all got one vote if you consider Everett Brown both a OLB and a DE then the LB and DE picks were split 5 and 5 Jermaine Gresham going 11th to the Bills is the highest anyone has him going, most drafts have him going 22-28 and he's not in the first round twice. Alex Mack is only in the first round twice both times going 30th to Pittsburgh
-
Would agree with most of it except J.P. being a good backup, he needs more reps then anybody I know- his best chance would be a starter with Detroit low expectations and some good WRs.
-
I would have to believe that Bell was special, and that we were getting value in the trade

Now that Ralph confirmed the retention of Jauron

1. Edwards is suppose to be a bright guy- let him call most of his own plays- that would get rid of most of the clock management disasters. 2. get a couple draft guides or some fan mock drafts and use them on 1st and 2nd round picks- if the Bills had been doing that the last six years they would have been much better off. 3. If the head coach is super calm then the coordinators have to be fiery - if the Head coach is fiery you want calm coordinators- you need a balance and I think the Bills are way too far over to the calm side. 4. you got to take a hard look a strength and conditioning - lots of injuries and when is the last time anyone made huge physical strides in their first three years- I remember reading that Preston gained weight in the off season- yeah he was fatter. -
If you were really smart you wouldn't self gloss- at least not on this board
-
1. I wish people would stop talking about 1st round picks as if the number 1 pick is the same as the number 32 pick- I'd say Peters is worth about 2200 points on the trade value chart- that would give you a good indication of what another team would have to give up to make the trade fair.
