  1. Did you ever think he might be the best OG in the draft with enough versatility to play RT and even LT in a pinch- I would have an easier time working around a mediocre LT who is occasionally beaten by a speed rush than a guard who is continually pushed back into the QB.
  2. If Peters is traded then LT is Bell's to lose- Walker is a pretty good RT and Chambers might end up as LG.
  3. Just for the record, how come when I mentioned Philly and Detroit, as the most likely trade partners for Peters on Dec 23 12:55 pm, I took a ton of abuse but now it's just accepted as common sense.
  4. Vicks not playing QB for anybody who has even a mediocre QB- He's not a guy you want as the face of your franchise- so he's either going to a team that has a disaster at QB or he's going to be a third down RB/WR- I be surprised if he got more than 2.5 mil anytime soon - I liked watching Vick but Atlanta has really improved without him- QB's like Vick remind me of point guards who score a lot - it leads to impressive stats but not that many wins.
  5. Hey I heard this from a friend, who heard it from an enemy, who heard it from a man in black - Peters to Philly, Philly's first 1st rounder and Aaron Schobel to Carolina, Philly's 3rd and Peppers to Buffalo.
  6. Stafford 1a and Andre Smith or Oher 1b is one way to go but Jason Smith 1a Mark Sanchez 1b might make sense too
  7. SCENARIO #1 - I don't think they'd give us both #1s unless we throw something back like a 3rd or at least switch #2s SCENARIO #7- I think this could be very likely except Detroit takes a QB and a OT or an OT and a QB
  8. rookie wide receivers who make a difference are as rare as hen teeth- RB, LB, OG is what you want if you expect a guy to step right up from the get go.
  9. Psssst........ Pepper Johnson is coming out of retirement
  10. I wanted the Bills to take Peters in with their 4th, I was surprised when he wasn't drafted but happy the Bills got him as a free agent, Peters ran 4.8-4.9 at around 317lb give or take 5lb - He was a dominate blocker as a tight end, why wasn't he drafted? 1. He didn't have a set position OT, OG, DT, TE were all mentioned as possible positions 2. had a poor written test and work ethic was not impressive 3. As a OT he didn't have optimum height and wing span, as a TE he was considered slow, and their was questions about his toughness and aggressiveness for OG and DT. The NFL in general is risk aversive and they look for reasons not to draft people more than they look for reasons to draft someone. Bell has very nice athletic abilities (college basketball team) but is not a huge guy 6,5 305, had less than average weight room strength (10 reps 225) coming in- the word from the Bills is he is a very hard worker and has really improved his strength- the guy is really raw only three years of college football and only two at OT, he did make all American his last year- didn't know Bell until the Bills drafted him but found video on him at draftguys also an interview - they had a lot of nice things to say about him and I thought he came off well on his interview- liked what I saw in training camp but we haven't seen him against any teams starters let alone top ten DEs.
  11. Wouldn't be at all surprised - The Bills really like Bell and want him to start somewhere- the Bills think Chambers provides a solid floor to any of the OG or OT positions, at LB Bills are thinking of Ellison as the base with John DiGiorgio , Bowen and a drafted LB trying to unseat him. I think the Bills do a lot of planning based on rosy scenarios - Hey our Defense wasn't so bad and if our young players improve and we get a few players back from injury we will be OK - The problem is not all young players improve (Ko Simpson) (Preston) (Ellison) (Kyle Williams) all stayed pretty static and with players coming back from injury you have no idea what you are getting- Even if Schobel comes back 100% we won't know what that means until he starts playing.
  12. I agree with the posters who say Preston is a marginal player- but you don't get good by getting rid of your marginal players you get good by replacing your marginal players with someone good.
  13. all around body strength and good mechanics helps- they say poor arm strength shows up mainly in the twenty yard out
  14. I don't understand what everyone is so upset about- once you set a principle everything else is just a negotiating- you agree to let your wife sleep with another man then you get upset when she wants to increase the frequency? pathetic.
  15. I would have never done either of those contracts- Kelsay because he didn't show burst to get around an OT and he didn't show power to go through a OT- Schobel because of age, size, and off season conditioning beliefs (when your game is quickness, age and disbelief in year round conditioning are a bad combination) btw if you are pissed at Peters for not honoring his contract you should also be pissed at Schobel who gave not so subtle hints that if his contract wasn't redone it would negatively affect his play.
  16. 2006 wanted Ngata would have taken Ngata 2007 had lust for Willis and Okoye would have taken Lynch 2008 wanted Derrick Harvey would have taken Branden Albert 2009 want BJ Raji will be satisfied with either a thumper on D like Maualuga, or a OT who can start a OG like Smith or Oher
  17. Let the Bill's be interesting now- who knows if Buffalo has a team in 2010- If the Bills are here who knows if fans will have the money to see them.
  18. on the plus side McCargo is very quick on the minus side he's small, has a history of injuries, and the thing that bothers me most looks like he doesn't workout and watch his diet- He's extremely rolly polly for a guy who's undersized- Tommy Harris is light but looks like he's carved out of rock, McCargo looks like he's molded out of pudding
  19. I don't know how much money we have left but I know that the free agents have been pretty much picked over- what is out there that isn't old, injured, or just sucks.
  20. Not KelsayII - I can't believe no one has referenced Mike Mamula- where is you love of history?
  21. There is always trends and breaking the trend going on in the NFL- at first someone thinks I'll get bigger OTs to handle the DEs , so the Defense guys think well I'll get bigger DE's - which make the offensive guys look for even bigger OTs - suddenly a trend breaker thinks hey these OT's are huge but they don't move that well lets try small really quick DE's- if it's successful then smaller quicker DE's is the new trend and maybe the guys on offense start looking for smaller more athletic OTs.
  22. I disagree- we would just suck in a different way- but we might be more interesting and exciting- as much as I say I'm done with the Bills, now that we have T.O. I'm just a couple good moves from being sucked in again, A guy who could get sacks and someone who can hit, and like Michael says "just when I thought I was out THEY PULL ME BACK IN"
  23. anything is possible but I think Barwin would be more likely.
  24. Fine or Schouman could still be playing as H-backs
  25. I don't think anybody is saying that we are in anyway trading Peters for Sheffler- what they are saying is if we get Sheffler we will have to pay him which makes it even less likely that we will pay big money to Peters- it would also take TE off the table as a need, allowing us to use our first Pick for someone other than Pettigrew, allowing us to Maybe get Oher- then using whatever picks we get for Peters on the Defensive side of the ball.
