Link Link Peprah is not without flaws and coming off an injury, but what I think he would be a nice fit. When I've watched him play I thought he was a playmaker. In my mind he is a guy who can play either safety position and if given a pass rush he might jump some balls for us cause he has good instincts.

Yeh I really like Gilmore, he seems like a technician with good instincts and an ability to lay the wood. My point isn't who will better e.g., player x or player y, what I wanted to emphasize is that that corners take more time to develop than say an RB, interior O-line, D-line or LB. I don't think you can just plug and play them unlike some other positions - CB's need to learn the nuances of the game, and if means that Gilmore or Williams end up as a nickle or dime corner to start I'm fine with that. Thanks for actually doing some fact checking.

I wouldn't make to much of this yet, will wait to see how things sort themselves out at Camp..... I am not sure what Wanny's Defense demands of corners but I will say the position seems to be a tough adjustment for rookies in general. I really like the Gilmore pick and he seems to be a "quick study/film guy" but you look at Patrick Peterson last year, yes he was devastating as a return man but he had a lot of hiccups in coverage. CB is a nuanced position Williams and Gilmore don't have much experience so if they are a starters week 1, I hope its because they outplayed the other options in camp.

You always need to take the forty time number (whether good or bad) with a grain of salt. Kendall Wright ran a 4.63 at the combine and he is 5'10 but he still went Rd. 1 largely because the his pro day and game tape which showed he played with high end speed. Conversely, I think james Hardy ran 4.47 at the combine but he clearly turned out never to be a speed threat. Just to compare, here is Gordon and Kendal Wright 2010 numbers, both played 13 games. Based on the stats (Below) Wright looks like the better player more receptions and yards, but Gordon looks like he has some big play capability. I'm all for taking a risky player once in a while if there is upside. And there is definitely upside if the guy can run sub 4.4 and is 6'4 -- but my philosophy is never pay full price for that risk, you want to look for discounts. If you were taking him in Rd 2 that's "full price" for a guy who hasn't played and is a character concern. I don't think the bills will offer at Gordon based on Nix's track record, but I certainly see why this guy is being talked about as a 2nd or 3rd round pick.The natural comparison for him is Stephen Hill in my mind, whom a lot of Bills fans were hoping we might target in round 2 or 3. Both sound like incredible athlete's both had limited tape as a WR. Hill performed very well at the combine, so we'll have to see what Gordon does at his pro day and Gordon is further discounted due to "Character" concerns and having sat out a year. I could maybe be talked into bidding a 3rd round pick on him. I can only go by the media reports on T.J. Graham and Marcus Easely (which sound generally positive), but if our scouts and G.M. think Gordon willbe a better pro than than either Graham or Easely you need to consider placing a high bid for this guy.

I get that I just don't think anyone will live to regret cutting Hagan, Roosevelt, Aiken, Clowney, Roosevelt, Session.

Alright I'm expecting this idea to be shot down fairly quickly with the old standby's "He is old", "He Sucks", "Bad for Chemistry", "He's an idiot" ...... and don't get me wrong I think those are legitimate arguments.... But here are my reason for why we should sign Plaxico Burress: The Bills have no receiving threats who fulfill the requirement "he's open even when he's not open". Plaxico is a big guy (6ft.5) who you can throw the ball to when he is covered and Plax will win those 50/50 battles and come down with the ball. He can be used as red zone target,he caught 8TDs last year with Mark Sanchez throwing the ball, Plax will open space for others by drawing doubles near the endzone. Maybe David Nelson fills this role but I think the two can co-exist. It takes a while to get your legs back after you go to prison. Ask Jamaal Lewis, ask Mike Vick. They each had down years after they returned from prison, mental strain aside it takes a while to get your legs back into elite football shape. Both Jamaal Lewis and Vick rebounded after a year back. He's won and he's played well in a Superbowl. I can't really think of any Bills who have this qualification....yeh sure Nick Barnett has a ring but he was injured for most of the run and did not dress for the game. He'll come cheap and be will be motivated. We open the season against the Jet's.... what better way to keep a guy like Plaxico motivated in training camp then a game in NYC against the team that cut him. And if he acts out during the season cut him -- and I don't by the argument that if he is a disruption he'll destroy the Bills season. If the Bills allow a bad character or two to ruin their season, they were never destined for a winning record anyway. It's not like we'll be cutting someone who will tear the league up. Realistically I think we'll have to keep 6 WR keep so give me Johnson, Nelson, Graham, Jones, Easely and Plaxico. I get that Hagan is a good special teamer, and so could be Ruvell Martin. Yes Clowney has speed to burn. But the reality is these guys are fringe roster players who had chances by other teams and showed that they're marginal NFL players at best. Also someone always gets hurt. So have at it....

Can't wait to watch these guys go to work. I honestly think the bills D-Line could be the best in the game next year... right up there with the Eagles and Bears and Lions if not better. The last time I would grade out the bills D-line as being even above the 50th percentil in terms of our performance was 2004 with Schobel, Williams, Sam Adams.

I'd second that, his play (like most bills) fell off in the second half. Some people are attributing this to RIB injury suffered against Washington. If he was indeed injury he'd top my list. you pretty much live and die by the QB in the NFL, some teams are able to buck the trend, but in general the Bill's will need to have superior QB performance for the team to succeed( re plyaoffs).

I think Donald Jones probably makes the roster over Clowney, I know its not a sexy pick but I think Moorman will be able to hold onto his job.

M. Jasper and Gilbert should have their own reality TV show where they just travel around doing amazing feats of athleticism everywhere but on the football field.

Thanks tips. But these type of points are silly to me..... Its like saying that if you get spanked as a kid it would hurt. The Steeler's are a model franchise -- by almost any metric the Steelers are one of the most successful teams in NFL history. If the Bills had as long and as recent of a winning of history as the Steelers I'm sure the franchise would be on sounder financial ground.

I like how they give Fitz quick release credit for the league low sack total, but I think most the credit really goes to chan for designing an offense that is a lot of 3 step drops as well TE's and RB's chip blocking. The problem is that its tough for the bills to put vertical pressure on teams if your line can protect long enough for the QB to take 5 and sometimes even 7 step drops. In essence this is my problem with purely analytical and statistical measures, Both football outsiders and pro-football focus graded us as the #1 passing blocking O-line, but I think you ask any rational Bills fan and they'd agree that there are some far better pass protecting units out there.

Haha don't get wrong I think the fan experience is much better under the sporting league monopolies, I also think the owners pocketbooks are much fatter as a result. The only people that lose out are the players -- although their annual compensation is much more than most americans will earn in their lifetimes.

I think the issue here is the NFL is granted considerable relief from A U.S. Anti-Trust Laws, the NFL gets it operate as a monopoly unlike almost all businesses in the U.S. When you're exempt from a lot of traditional forms of competition you have to meet a higher standard to earn those exemptions IMO. Imagine what the job market would be like for all accountants if all the major accounting firms e.g., Price Waterhouse Coopers, Deloitte, Ernst Young and KPMG were allowed to collude and set one policy for wages, discipline (like all NFL teams to do).... Accountants (who weren't partners) would be considerably worse off. Again my criticism is not against the suspension of Vilma (if you did the crime you should do the time, cliche etc)...... My criticism is that the NFL, given its monopoly status, needs to operate in a open manner and this includes public disclosure of evidence (or least disclosing evidence to the accused, as well as setting up an independent appeals process).

Good On Vilma - while I think he is probably guilty of participating in the bounty program and pledging money I think its outrageous that Goodell gets to act as judge, jury and executioner -- you need some form of independent arbitration as well as public disclosure of evidence. Since that is not available Vilma should use all the tools available rush the evidence to a public forum with the goal of trying play this season. This is one of those tools.

I always find these blanket statements that the bills "got what they wanted" to be disingenuous. Even a honest guy like Buddy Nix won't come out and say yeh the guy we wanted at each selection was drafted 3 picks before us....... how do we know that Bills didn't want to grab Mark Barron rd.1 and Brian Quick Rd. 2 Osmeli Rd. 3 and Boykins round 4 etc. As a fan I like the Bills draft and I'm sure mgmt likes the draft as well, but who is to say that they wouldn't of liked it more had the chips fallen another way.

it's interesting how rule changes impact a players earning potential e.g., increased pct of touchbacks last year due the shorter kickoff rule really negates brad smiths value, while a guy like Potter probably doesn't have an NFL roster spot if not for the new rule.

I'd gladly take what McNeill gave the chargers, as proxy for Glenn's production and happily walk away after 82 games. I get what your trying to say, but even considering injuries I would beyond please if Glenn's career turned out as well as McNeills.

I have a hard time buying this: At the time the Jags Already had drafted Blackmon, signed Laurent Robinson and Lee Evans. They are also bringing back Mike Thomas and Brian Robiskie from last year.If adding another WR was a priority for the Jags, they would have taken another one with a later round pick...but they didn't.
