  1. we would end up paying 2 first rounds picks more in guaranteed money than a new contract for Peters would cost. Would I do the deal? Yes, but it just underscores how horrible it is that are best player probably a top 15 player in the NFL is holding out.
  2. James "The Love Child" Hardy
  3. What's he look like in game situations speed rusher/bull rusher, balanced? Hard hitter, gap control? I haven't seen him in action because I'm lazy and generally just watch the skill players, but he if he could develop our D line rotation is looking pretty nice W/ Denney, Schobel, Kelsay, Stroud, McCargo, Williams, Johnson and now hopefully Ellis.
  4. offer him a back loaded long deal with some absurd number like 7 years 65 million dollars, float that number (not the details) out to the media and hope that pressures Peters to report.
  5. While I'm hoping for a big year from Poz he really is still quite an unknown commodity, he has looked good on certain plays and has looked like a rookie (which he practically is) at times (specifically against Washington RB carrying the ball right at him and Poz was still trying to get depth on his pass drop, I also think Digiorgio is a capable backup/potential starter. And I do agree with the sentiment that there is unwarranted optimism bordering on fanaticism for Poz on this board based on what he has shown so far, just compare the treatment Poz is getting this offseason compared to the treatment John McCargo got last year.
  6. Natural Grass is still the best if it can be kept pristine throughout the year but Field Turf is superior to Astroturf or its new incarnation astroplay which I think Ralph uses. I wonder if there were any quotes about the field from the players? "EDIT": Looks like Ben Rothlisberger agrees with the OP. Rothisberger on Toronto;"It's awesome," Roethlisberger said of his Toronto experience. "The stadium is awesome. The turf leaves a lot to be desired, but to be up here with the fans has been awesome."
  7. I might have to agree, case in point Jays Yankee's Series: Behold the Roger Centre sordid history of sinful decadence
  8. The running game has sucked the last two years, its pretty hard to run inside the tackles especially when you consider the alternatives which is the passing game which seems to result in long touchdown bombs every 5th throw. Against other users (all madden level) running outside is feast or famine, - 3 yard loss, -5 yard loss, -2 yard loss, -4 yard loss, 65 yard touch down run. I'm a little scared with what is happening to Madden series especially since they signed the exclusive contract with the NFL essentially giving them monopoly power. Seems to me the recent games have been concerned with with more outside the game features and less focus on getting the actual game play tight and realistic. They need to figure it out already and hire me as a consultant so we can bring a level of realism back to it. )07 and 08 were far superior on XBox and ps3 and thats because they made no adjustments to it (which is a sad statement).
  9. its posted on Bills Zone as well
  10. I have been really dissapointed with Madden 07/08 for Xbox 360 seriously the complexity and realism of the game play fell off from just regular xbox and ps2. I hope to god it gets better in 09 because that was the only reason I bought my 360.
  11. Couldn't agree more Greer last year looked like more than just a fill in, he looked like one of the best coverage corners out there. He will need to work on tackling to become a legit starter, but with his coverage skills I think he shows tremendous potential.
  12. Thanks for the clarification, I'll have to look at the replay; because it still looked to me that no matter what route Schouman ran there didn't seem to be any windows to throw the ball into.
  13. A few thoughts: DBs: Youboty: seemed active tonight, I know his playing time was few and far between in the past but I always thought Youboty was never really willing to stick his nose in there and get dirty; tonight he seemed to be around the ball (yes some passes were being tossed his way and he certainly got the most reps of the DBs) but still he showed some promise to me, decent closing speed on the plays and got in there to make some solid tackles. His interception was mostly being in the right place at the right time but still he held onto the ball which is more than Shawn Springs could say tonight. Reggie Corner : looked good for his game as a pro, no stage fright. seemed comfortable playing tight coverage where a lot of rookies like to back off 5-8 yards. Leodis McKelvin the big questions with returners who had outstanding success in college is whether there top gear will suffice at the next level, so far it looks like answer is a resounding yes. TEs: Fine: Looks small, but more athletic than I expected. Can he block at the next level? Schouman: Looked glacially slow in passing routes. Courtney Anderson: I'm a sucker for size and this guy looks massive when he is in there, but his Hips look tight when he runs and I can't see him being active in the passing game, his one completion over the middle was a perfect throw by Hamden. If he could use his big frame to block he would look nice in the goal line packages. RBs Dwayne Wright hit the hole a lot better than last year, I like what I saw up until his fumble which was just horrible. As the same guy who made the tackle forced the ball lose when his helmet jarred the ball. In the regular season Wrightcan expect to get hit that hard simultanously by two guys while a third guy tries to rip the ball out of his hands. He looked like he was carrying the ball like a loaf of bread on that play. Xavier Omon: Seems fine athletically (no probs being a DII prospect, turned one run that looked like a no gainer into 9 yards. All in the blocking looked bad in the run game - - no real push. QBs: Trent didn't get much help from the people around him, his completion to Roscoe was a nice deep out, if he can make that throw regularly Lee Evans will be very happy. He almost threw a pick at the goal line except Shawn Springs dropped the ball, really inexcusable throw "late and over the middle" have no idea what he was thinking it was made all the more worse given the area it was in. J.P: Can't argue with the pass to Hardy beautiful touch throw; gave the big guy an opportunity to get his hands on it. Looked confident on the two point conversion. Good showing by him all in all, would have liked to see him throw the ball away on the sack he took but it was third down so I assume he was trying to make a play Hamden: Chroise, baby, Chroise. I'm happy with him as the 3rd QB. When I heard Jon Beck might be released by the Dolphins I thought he might be worth taking a flyer on, but Hamden definitely looks like an NFL QB. Others: Wendling was active, Byron Scott didn't seem proactive in the running game - - don't know how long he was in for though. Poz was unimpressive looked to be focused on getting to his drop depth and therefore reacted slowly, I honestly think there isn't a drop off between him and Digiorgio. Lastly, James Hardy had the quintessential rookie game littered with mental mistakes: (1) Wrong route, (2) Lazy Route when it looked liked he was the primary receiver on one play, (3) Illegal Procedure penalty on a 3rd and 3 no less, (4) dropped pass. Then he just wows you with a great fade pattern + adjustment for the score and you think wow this is what the Bills have been missing. Hopefully his learning curve speeds up.
  14. If your assessment is right: loads of athleticism, but low strength, I would disagree with him having no future in the league. You can't teach Athleticism, but you can teach technique (good coaches) and strength (weight room). If he can get stronger then we might see him get a chance.
  15. I remember he who must not be named (McGahee) Just destroy a blitzing LB or DE in a game. Unfortunately he was too lazy to do it on a consistent basis, it was probably against the Jets.
  16. I thought they had a good draft Merling was a steal in second round, Long was a safe pick looks like he will be a ten year starter on the left side maybe probowl potential like Joe Thomas. Henne was the second QB on my draft board (ahead of Flacco) Langford looks built for 3-4 and put gawdy numbers in a albeit a weak conference. Then they just drafted a lot of big boys at the end OL, DL and some big RBs its hard to teach size. They made a few under the rader additions Jason Ferguson is the DT who will suit clog the middle, Smiley at OG looked solid in San Fran when Norv Turner was callings plays, Ernest Wilford found ways to make plays with the Jags, Akin Ayodele will suit the 3-4 and is familiar with Parcells. I like what I saw from Athony Fasano at Dallas as well. And Pennington is just another solid addition in my books, sure he might not play at his 2006 level heck might not even start but it didn't cost them anything did it? I just think the most important thing they needed was a culture change, they got that with Parcells who knows how to turn around teams quickly. You don't have to completely overhaul the roster for the sake it you just need to add some core guys and build through the draft, when you only 1 game obviously saying they will improve is not saving much my guess 6-10 and the Bills will have trouble against them in both games. A split is not unimaginable.
  17. I don't see the need to be dismissive, Pennington consistently completes 65% of his passes. If Soprano as a former O-Line and TE's Coach can get the Hogs to move the pile up front they could really sustain drives W/ Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams. Dan Henning ran a meat & potatoes' offense W/ Carolina. Pennington is what he is a cerebral quarterback who puts excellent touch on throws and a quick release. His arm strength is weak and there are always question marks about his health. Maybe Bill's fan shouldn't be worried about this move, but it doesn't make the Dolphins any worse and considering Pennington will have the comforts of the indoor Rogers Centre he won't have to worry about the elements. I think the Dolphins did a lot towards improving the team from a year ago.
  18. I don't see the need to be dismissive, Pennington consistently completes 65% of his passes. If Soprano as a former O-Line and TE's Coach can get the Hogs up front to move the pile they may be Jake Long (Unkown could be a joe Thomas or Robert Gallery or something in between)
  19. Keep in mind that he is not only one of the top LT in the League, his position LT is likely the second most important position in all of football behind QB. So not only is he incredibly valuable at his position; the LT position is key to on field success of the whole team.
  20. I think he should get paid as well.
  21. whoever wins the Texans RB situation will have agood year
  22. I like Stroud a lot in JAX prior to his microfracture surgery, if he returns to Form he will make everyone better on the line especially Schobel and McCargo. Unfortunately, Stroud has looked like a shadow of his former self since the surgery, don't get me wrong I hope the best from him but I'm not expecting anything special. As for Peters, just look what happened to Bills when he got injured against the NYG and everything went to hell.
  23. A nice signing for them though, I think Jordan can play.
  24. If the Yanks sweep the Sox and the Jays win tomorrow they will only be 5.5 back of the wild card. Cito Gaston baby!
  25. good to hear, I'm interested to see how our DB rotation looks at the start of the year and at the end of year.
