I get the distinct impression Polian was candid with Irsay and flat out suggested that Manning be let go and let the rebuild begin with Luck. But Irsay is too loyal to Manning and all that he brought to Indy and Polian was shown the door. I don't think they'll select Luck number one overall and, with a good chance that the Rams pass (and perhaps Minny, too), there could be some major movement at the top of the draft board. Either by teams in a frenzy to make deals to climb up or for the unexpected fall of Luck to perhaps three or four.
What say The Wall?
GO BILLS!!!
I think that Indy trades the pick away for a high 1st and 2nd in this draft, possibly a player or another pick this year, and definitely a 1st and ?? in 2013. I don't think they move down more than half a dozen picks, unless they subsequently trade THAT 1st round pick for another team's 1st and ?? picks. Indy could essentially rebuild the Colts this year if they play their cards correctly.
They were fortunate that Luck waited till this year to come out.

Biggest Surprise - The defense gave up more points this year than last year
Biggest Disappoinment - Losing 8 of last 9 games
Looking forward too - A defense that can get the opponent off the field when necessary

No reports of an eclipse at Gillette field, so apparently not

One thing I do like about Gailey is he isnt afriad to make a change
I wonder if that will carry over to quarterback evaluation . . .

Hiring in-house always saves money.
Wow so cynical
Just announced in wgr. Per Chris Brown, Edwards out and Wanny in.
Sheesh - I was away from comp / radio for 3 hours and there's big news outta OBD.

And with the 10th pick in the 2012 draft, the Buffalo Bills select:
How about a quick look at our notable "busts" over the past decade. I left off the guys who actually made some contribution to the team. Some may argue there should be more guys on the list; I just included the notable failures. Hopefully Leodis can perform well enough next season to be removed from this list.
Erik Flowers (26) 2 Seasons, 4 sacks, 14 tackles
Mike Williams (4) This one REALLY hurt; how do you screw up a top-5 pick??
J.P. Losman (22 - trade)
John McCargo (26 - trade) 5 Seasons, 2.5 sacks, 32 tackles - F A I L -
Leodis McKelvin (11) 4 Seasons, 0 sacks, 118 tackles (pass), 5 INTs (yawn), 25 PD. -
Aaron Maybin (11) 2 Season, 0 sacks, 15 tackles - F A I L -
My point is: whether we draft 4th or 26th, this team has a history of peeing all over itself when it comes time to select its first round picks.
Buddy - Please knock it out of the park in April? Please??

Hmmmm . . .
I thought this thread would spark more conversation. The Bills haven't given up this many points in a season since 1985. What does that say sbout our defense? Sure there were a few INTs returned for TDs, but generally speaking, this defense could not keep the opposition out of the endzone. If it wasn't for the offense showing some life this year, we would have been in the "Suck for Luck" sweepstakes

And that's after a considerable influx of new talent.
Some people here blame the poor defense on a lack of talent but I've been in that group which believes that the coaching sucks.
BTW Mr Blizzard, is that Jaclyn Smith as your avatar?
Hi San Jose
I'm inclined to agree; the defensive coaching sucks. We should have kept Perry Fewell.
As far as the avatar - yes that's Jaclyn Smith - one of the hottest women ever! (in my opinion). She still looks good in her 60's.

The Bills gave up 434 points over 16 games this season. That's actually WORSE than last season. There were only 3 games that the Bills allowed less than 23 points; one being the shutout of the Redskins back in October.
If this team is going to have a winning record next year, it has to find a way to get the defense at least back to the middle of the pack.
Aside from building through the draft, I'm ok with us signing another Nick Barnett if there is one out there . . .

I think we need to explore our options at QB. The Bills defense is the unit that needs the most help, but Fitz is also a problem.

Still rebuilding

God only knows what kind of diseases and nastiness she has now after banging Russel Brand.
I'm sure it was a platonic relationship . . .

And just a general comment: I thought that Scott Chandler (TE) had a decent season; probably the best TE we've had since Jay Riemersma.
-
I think it's a safe bet that Brandon Coutu (K) is not retained for next season.

I guess it's called the "China Doll" rule.

What a joke of a call.
Brady takes a dive like a soccer player and Sterratore (spelling?) says he got "drilled" to the ground.
Brady should just have his own whole rulebook for refs to refer to when they're officiating Pats* games.
I've gotta side with Brady. The poor guy could have broken a fingernail!

there are 1,000 official threads started today
Yeah - Officially PO'ed threads! Bahahahahaaaaa

We need an update here!
1) Colts
2) Rams
3) Vikings
4) Browns or Bucs
Bills will pick no later than 11th. Currently looks like they will pick 9th. If you can wait 2 more hours, all questions will be answered . . .

Only two other teams gave up more points than the Bills this season. If anyone thinks that we don't need A LOT more TALENT (and better COACHING) on defense, they need to look at our stats. Even during the winning streak, we were giving up a lot of points.
There were only THREE GAMES this season that we gave up less than 23 points!
We still need some serious retooling on the front seven, and an upgrade at CB wouldn't hurt either. Hopefully Kyle Williams comes back 100% but there needs to be enough depth on the team to overcome the loss of a good player. The current Bills roster doesn't have it..

Not gonna see much of me on this board until after the Superbowl. I am speechless right now.
Adios

Well, the Bills have a long and storied history of letting the great walk and rewarding the mediocre.
This post is so true. I have never figured out why The Bills have had love-affairs with some guys who are just plain average, yet they sign them to long-term contracts. After the signing, they continue to be average.
At pick #10
