Great minds think alike Doc !

I think Kaufman has a good shot as being 1 of the 6 WRs. Although he may end up on Practice Squad. Not good news for Easley although he deserves another look now fully fit. Not sure how we keep a space for Brad Smith but I would like to see if Hackett can find a role for him. Maybe it's Graham that is not safe on the roster? I see Woods as WR2. With the addition of the other WR draftees maybe Stevie can now switch to the slot.

Kaufman has mega impressive stats playing in the Big Sky league. 1850 receiving yards in 2012 alone. But I'm always keen to see how they play against the best competition they face. So 10 catches and 140 yards when matched up against Desmond Trufant picked in R1 by the Falcons this year looks mighty impressive. Lets get him ready for the Falcons match up on 1st December. Disappointed not to pick up Alec Lemon in UDFA given Syracuse links but we seem to have more than sufficient WR options right now.

Rd 6, Pick #177: K Dustin Hopkins - FSU
peterlaw replied to Boludo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Where many games are decided by just a few points Hopkins is an excellent draft pick. We seemed to be at a disadvantage to many other NFL teams who would routinely kick 3 pts at 50 yards plus. Hopkins has proven he can do this in college. This is a huge pick up and the net result is we will now win more close games. -
No thanks. Prefer TE option at # 46. Not convinced that Teo is the man to improve our run D. Personally would not even draft him in R3. We need Dansby on the roster.

Rd 1, Pick #16: QB EJ Manuel - Florida St.

His 40 time looks a useful asset at 4.65. Nassib was slow at 5.09. Kolb was 4.85 in 2007. Maybe a better option than Brad Smith in the Wildcat albeit Brad has a 4.46 time. Kaepernick was 4.53 back in 2011. It would be nice to have the Kaepernick option in the play book. Not sure Manuel has the pace to take it the distance from midfield as Kaepernick did last year but he can certainly move the chains. -
Bills-Rams trade and the Draft Trade Value Chart
peterlaw replied to San Jose Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wonder how that trade went down at the Patriots Draft Day Party ? You hang around for 3 or 4 hours expecting to get a player and walk away with nothing but a bunch of vouchers to use in the next couple of days on inferior goods. So we get to pick 3 times before the Pats get the chance to choose. This should mean we get 3 better players than the Pats and our rosters get closer in terms of ability. But the problem then comes when they go out on the field and play football. -
Bills-Rams trade and the Draft Trade Value Chart
peterlaw replied to San Jose Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Disappointed in having to switch picks in R3. Losing 71 and switching to 78. The Rams looked desperate to move up to get the player they wanted and who has the ability to sell tickets. Thought the Bills should have held their ground and got a better deal, especially with Austin and Milliner on deck. Still at least we gain a R2 pick. We are bound to get a quality starter in the early part of R2 aren't we? Not sure why I'm thinking of Aaron Williams, Torell Troup & James Hardy here! Did we ever try James Hardy at Safety before he was released? -
Rd 1, Pick #16: QB EJ Manuel - Florida St.

EJ hands off to CJ, flea flicker back to EJ, throws for an 80 yard TD to TJ and the Bills win the Superbowl. -
Not best pleased. At least Tavon is not the AFC. Looking forward to seeing more of Brad Smith & TJ Graham this year. Genius.
-
Would you trade next year's first for a late first today?
peterlaw replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Absolutely no way. Potentially passing up Johnny Football in 2014. Lets wait our turn in R2. Trading into R1 just reminds me of JP Losman. Genius. -
Bills WOF WR Steve Tasker only 5' 9". Multi talented and highly skilled performer. One of my all time favorite Bills. His son Luke is in the draft this year. However I'm going for Tavon rather than Luke.
-
So only 6' 6" guys can get drafted in the First Round ? In another sport let's not forget little 5' 10" Mike Tyson having his way with some much bigger guys. Actually I wonder whether Iron Mike wants to try out for our vacant Guard position.

Proof Nix is living in an Altered State of Reality
peterlaw replied to simpleman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Will Russ Brandon sack Nix mid way through the draft if he tries to pull another TJ Graham stunt ? I know we still need WR talent but that's no reason to take 7th round talent in the third. Only 6 picks and at least 8 major needs. With our track record how many hits will we get out of those 6 picks. Maybe 2 or 3 players? Looks like we will still be doing some major shopping on roster cut down days. Hopefully Nix will be gone by then and Marrone will get more input on player personnel. -
No garbage time yards (572) or points (2 TDs) in the Oklahoma game.
-
Don't you think that his running style would generate plenty of YAC ? I'm sure that Hackett could devise a plan to keep him involved and his electric pace from the slot would keep the safeties occupied and give space for CJ and Fred. Lets draft some 6' 8" beanpole WR in the 6th round to play jump ball in the red zone to keep the size guys happy.
-
I would prefer to have the 8th best player available rather than than a lower/mid range first round pick and a mid range second. If Austin goes to the Jets he will kill us twice a year for the next 7 years. Who gets to cover him, Bryan Scott or Aaron Williams or Ron Brooks or Leodis ? And please please please let's not trade away our FIrst round pick in 2014 to get back in the bottom of the first this year. We can get by without a developmental QB project this year if needs be.
-
Austin has not missed a game in 8 years. Given the number of touches he has including kick returns that suggests to me he is plenty durable enough. 40 TDs in 4 years. 572 combined yards against Oklahoma in ONE game. I also love the tape of the Rutgers game where he runs in a long TD on a snow covered field. Pick Austin #8. Grab him before the Jests get a chance. Speed beats size.

Jamarcus Russell Making a Comeback
peterlaw replied to truth on hold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not for the Bills thank you. Too much guaranteed contract money was I suspect the root of the problem here. I felt more sorry for the Coach who was overruled by Al Davis on draft day and later sacked. -
Which QB would get you the most excited?
peterlaw replied to Billsrhody's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Kolb when he throws the first of 3 TD's against the Pats in the opener. His primary target that day will be Tavon Austin drafted by the Bills at #8. -
We get to pick at #8 so let's take the pick and not trade back. 40 TD's at West Virginia. Who cares about size. The only size that matters is yardage and TDs not how big someone is. Without question WR is our BIGGEST need. Even Brady would struggle with our WR corp. Watch the tape Buddy and just do the right thing. Tavon Austin @ #8.

According the Chris Brown........
peterlaw replied to ChanOverChin's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
rayray808. I never said or even privately considered that Barkley was a good choice either last year or this year. I wanted Kellen Moore as a low end draft pick as a development prospect last year but he is now 3rd string at Detroit. I still say go with Kolb and surround him with some quality talent from the draft. We may need 2 good WR's plus a TE from the draft. Even Tom Brady would struggle with our present receiving corp. -

Suggest we draft Austin in R1 (rather than let someone else have him) so that Kolb has got someone else beside Stevie to throw the ball to. God help us if Stevie goes down injured. In my view no point having Kolb and a R1 rookie QB if there are no decent Receivers to catch the ball. Perhaps we are playing a 1 WR line up this year? Would be fine if we had 2 Pass catching Tight Ends. Alas we only have Chandler who may not be ready to start the season. The Marrone / Hackett combo will be miracle workers if they can get some decent yardage out of Nassib/Manuel and the current Bills Receiving corp. I say leave QB this year. We have too many areas to address. Give Kolb a chance with some decent receiving options. If Kolb succeeds then we did not need a R1 QB. If he fails badly then we may get the chance of Johnny Football QB in 2014. -
Biggest need on this team right now is WR. Lets give Kolb a chance by giving him some targets. Austin looks good at #8. I agree that a LB in R2 makes sense. I'm not keen on Glennon in R3. Would prefer to take either TE or CB in R3. If Kolb fails we get a high R1 pick in 2014 to draft our QB of the future (Johnny Football anyone).

Watched a game from 2004 the other night
peterlaw replied to JÂy RÛßeÒ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That game in 2004 against the Rams was my last visit to the Ralph. I had flown across from the UK a few days before with no great expectation as we were facing the "Greatest Show on Turf" (Torry Holt, Isaac Bruce, Marshall Faulk and a young Steven Jackson) and especially at 10 - 0 down at the end of Q1. But little did I know that Bledsoe and the Bills would be putting on the show that day. Great entertainment and hospitality in Cheektowaga on the Saturday night and a fantastic tailgate at the stadium. On Sunday I boarded the night train from Depew that eventually took me up to Seattle who the Bills were playing the following week. The Seahawks were duly demolished 38 - 9 with 4 TDs from McGahee. What a fantastic week in the life of a Buffalo Bills fan.
