Say what you will about him, but that bootleg to beat Jacksonville on the final play is one of my favorite post-SB Bills moments. -
Attn: soccer fans (just wait 'til next year!)

Yeah, those horns were really distracting. I had to mute it after a few minutes. I'm thinking Spain takes it next year. -
A few thoughts on this epic finale: The whole time I'm thinking to myself: Just don't end with the explosion. Give us a hint of what comes after that, just don't end with white light or a giant explosion... give us one more scene. And of course, we get the white light. This must be what everyone was feeling after the season 1 finale (I didn't start watching until mid-season 4- I caught up and was therefore able to gratify the hatch mystery immediately). Ben's "....Yes." after Locke asks him if he has to do anything he says is one of the best line-readings I've seen on this show. Just perfect. The opening scene is the most important scene since the "We have to go back!" Season 3 finale final scene. It's a game changer of epic proportions, and is going to be the pivotal point for season 6, IMO. The two men are clearly taking about something greater than just a boat and its consequences. What they are actually talking about, what they can actually control, and what rules they must follow and why, are all up for interpretation and debate. I hope this is the last we see of Rose and Bernard. Their story is nicely wrapped a la Walt as of right now, and frankly there is a plethora of characters to deal with and too many other loose ends to tie up to deal anymore with these minor characters. It was nice to see them, they are fine, let's move on for good. By that same token, I hope Juliet is dead for good. She's a horrible actress and her utility as a character is now complete. What the hell is Lapidus a candidate for? Becoming one of them? Taking Jacob's place, perhaps (though I think this is unlikely)? I'm excited to see Claire again next season. Her whereabouts have been bugging me for awhile. Even if she's dead, I'm really looking forward to finding out what's been up with her. I agree with that Doc Jensen column UConn posted that Jack's main reason for resetting time is that he lost Kate is terrible, corny, and wholly unbelievable. Really, Jack?! Like Sawyer said, just go talk to her!!! I did not believe it and I thought this was the weakest part of the episode. It's clear that whoever this guy is that is able to assume the identity of dead people brought to the island, he gets to retain all their memories as well. He knows all of the Locke/Ben history, as he recounts it all to Ben. Also, I think this anti-Jacob and the Smoke Monster have a relationship/are one in the same. Where the F is Desmond? Is he of any consequence anymore? We know now why "Locke" ordered Alpert to tell time-traveling Locke he had to die. My theory: Ben will be the good guy after it's all said and done. He's been manipulative and ruthless, but he's always claimed he's on the good side. We now know more about Ben and his intentions than just about anyone else on the show. Think about it this way: we know the Ajira people, Ilana and her folk, are allied with Jacob, seemingly for a long time a la those guys from "The Last Crusade" that protect the grail's whereabouts. We know Richard is a friend to these people, if not one of them as well. We know that these people are against Charles Widmore, after we saw them try to convince Miles to join them. We know Widmore and Ben are enemies and claim each other are the bad guys. We know there is an anti-Jacob, or a major foe to Jacob, that wants him dead and is pursuing directly different goals. We also know that Jacob has an investment in the original Oceanic people, seeing as how he's been following them for a very long time, and said "They're coming" right before he died. So, perhaps it's the enemy of my enemy is my friend, but the way I see it, it lines up like this: Side One (assumed Bad Guys): Jacob's enemy, Widmore, Christian Shepard and the ghost people that took over the cabin Side Two (assumed Good Guys): Jacob, Original Oceanic people, Ajira people (Ilana et al), and... Ben, since he is directly opposed to at least one of the Bad Guys- Widmore.

I agree re: season finales- no one does them like Lost. The season 3 finale, with the surprise flash-forward at the end, is the best episode of any show I've ever seen. They're gonna have a lot to work with this year.

Brad Butler! debate his merits at guard
Andrew in CA replied to billybob's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think you give the Butler at RT a shot, though, and see if he can be an effective starter there. I definitely have my doubts about Walker at LT, but give it time to gel- i think this is the best use of the Bills' personnel as it stands. Also, if worse comes to worse, you know how Butler can handle RT. If he's great, ie starter material, draft or sign a LT next offseason. Then, especially if the rookies and Hangartner are effective, you have a solid, young line that you keep together. -
In the Lost podcast w/ Damon and Carlton, the show's exec. producers, they all but said Daniel is dead. And though I wanted to know more about Daniel, especially what he was doing in Ann Arbor, I'm glad they're finally killing off a character- no more of this "he got shot but survived!" crap they pulled with young Ben. I think we are going to see a Jack/Locke juxtaposition tonight, with Locke solidifying his role in 2007 and Jack starting to take the reigns from Sawyer in 1977. I'm really beginning to feel more and more that Jack is Jacob, or has a deep connection to the island that has yet to be revealed. Edit: I swear I did not take the "solidifying" part from the promo, I just saw UConn's post!

Since you only have a few months left on the lease, I'd just suck it up and not live with the guy again, and take whatever roommate you get. However, speaking from experience, putting a Chicago summer sub-lease on craigslist is going to return 100 hits. If you really care about your third roomie, however temporary it will be, put the listing on cragislist immediately, put whatever general parameters you have (no smoking, yes to smoking, whatever) in the ad, and start the interview process right away. Edit: it really doesn't seem worth it to sue your roommate for 3 months rent. If it were 6 months, I could see it, but personally, I just deal with the rando and move one. Especially since you already know your next living situation, you know you won't have to put up with BS like this again.

If Nelson can live up to his billing as a great pass-catching threat, I think it's time the Bills really focus on getting Lynch and Jackson some catches out of the backfield. If they're putting safeties and corners on TO and Lee, and an additional LB on Nelson, it's going to open up some room for the RBs coming out of the backfield.

I think that Faraday's death proved that his variable theory was incorrect, since his mother had known since his birth that she would kill Faraday. However, Jack and Kate don't know this, and after seeing the previews for next week, it looks like Jack might have really taken that theory to heart. I think the biggest question left from this episode is: why did Eloise send Jack to the island, and why did Daniel so vehemently insist she was wrong? F'in great episode.

Let me know the next time Roth writes or says anything positive about the Bills. I listen to the D&C podcast with him and Maiorana, and I don't think he's ever been pleased with the team. Not that I am that often either, but you think you'd at least give them credit for addressing the lines in this draft.... The guy won't cut the Bills an ounce of slack.

Getting Hill would be a total coup! I'm not happy the Bills are going into the season with Ellison starting, but I'm glad the Bills finally made the trenches a priority, so I'm not complaining that much. However, getting Hill would really complete the D.

Wingnut Teabagger Threatens Bloodbath
Andrew in CA replied to blzrul's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
FYI, teabagging isn't kicking someone in the balls. At least, I've never heard that definition. -
Why does he list WR and RB amongst our needs at #28? If the Bills drafted a WR or RB with #28 (aside from Crabtree), I'd lose my s---. Stuff like that really makes me doubt these guys pay attention at all.
-
I'm beginning to fear they won't go LB with one of the first 3 picks. I think replacing Ellison should be a top priority and getting a LB with one of the first 3 picks is essential. I'm not reading a ton about the Bills looking at LB's. However, I also have zero clue what they will do... just please address 3 of LB, OT, OG, and DE with the first 3 picks...

LD hands down. And personally, I think Bubbles was the worst character on the Wire by far. I had no interest in his story and just wanted him to disappear.

I say we package both of our 1st round picks
Andrew in CA replied to BILLS #1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Too many holes on the team to trade up- in fact, I'd rather see them trade down with Detroit, and perhaps pick up a 2 or a 3 in the process. -
Any Bay Area attorneys on the board?
Andrew in CA replied to Andrew in CA's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Thanks for the encouragement, guys. I think that SF is the best city in the country, and my recent visit there only solidified my feelings. Forget all (well, most) of the stereotypes, it's impossible not to love. Albany law is great, and I'll always love upstate NY, but I just feel that now is the time to make the move across the country- if not now, when? -

LOL, if only Harvard were an option.... don't know if I could stand all those Pats* fans all over again! Thanks for the ! -
I'm not in any legal trouble- I'm deciding between a few law schools and wanted some input specific to San Francisco and the Bay Area. PM me if you think you can help, thanks in advance.

Bemidji State makes Frozen Four
Andrew in CA replied to buckeyemike's topic in Off the Wall Archives
That is definitely very impressive, it just demonstrates how good the Hockey East and BU was this year. Congratulations, Miami answered every challenged from Bemidji and did not let up even when Bemidji was trying to claw its way back in. I'll be rooting for you if you go up against BU! (Sorry, shrader)
