  1. FIXED I like Bell and Roscoe. Gailey and Nix like Bell and Roscoe. Playing football doesn't like Bell and Roscoe. They have talent, but they can't stay on the field.
  2. I think more the point is that the Bills made the top offer to THE top FA (who isn't a broken down old QB) according to the reports.
  3. I'm totally happy with Meachum - what the heck? They kept Stevie - they still have hopes for Easely. Garcon was WAAAY overpaid by the Redskins - they are nuts.
  4. Why do "fans" here keep ignoring the fact that Nix has stated on multiple occasions this Winter that they (OBD) view this year as an exception and plan on being very aggressive, while admitting they haven't been in the past and won't be (in general) in the future?
  5. I'd rather take a flier on Brady Quinn. He really never did get a fair shot.
  6. And what is the 'history" of Buddy Nix saying the Bills will be aggressive in free agency "[this year unlike other years]"? Nix (and Chris Brown has reiterated) has come out publicly and said that this season will be atypical for the Bills approach to FA.
  7. On the other hand - I DID just quote Hank Stram today watching my daughter's HS Lax scrimmages and telling my wife they "needed to do a better job matriculating the ball down the field, as Hank Stram would say"!
  8. That was his point - and it's a reasonable one. I like Chandler too, but if the Bills spend too much on one guy, it's money they can't spend on other needs - which prevents the winning you said you wanted. That's also why SJ's deal was so appealing - under 7.5M sounds like OBD got a reasonable bargain. Almost everything about that article was idiotic trolling. They also had 6:1 against Stevie signing - and that was after the initial positve reports that they were trading offers. There is a whole cottage industry in whining about the Bills front office and reality doesn't seem to be a part of their business model.
  9. Nix was pretty clear he wants to add a big target with some speed - the sort "who is open when he's not open" were his words, I beleive. In his words, again, "a Calvin Johnson type, although obviously there's only one of him". I think they might have been targeting VJ all along. Dunno if I agree with the choice - there's others out there I'd probably prefer and would cost less. If they sign Bowe to a longer deal, it will be for less that the franchise number I'm sure, and they yank the tag. Colston's injury issues may hurt him - and the fact that he appears to be just one cog in a very strong passing game centered on Brees.
  10. I could see Colston at 5M. Bowe's going to get more than Stevie got.
  11. And then when you found out he was really only 5'8" 168#... That regime did a lot of silly things. To his credit as others have pointed out - he was an absolutely dominant punt returner. If they could have afforded to have him in only that role full-time he might have lasted longer.
  12. After watching him at the combine I have no clue what NFL position Upshaw is qualified for. He looked slow, small, and lacked agility. Other than that a stud athlete... Obviously it wasn't just me - Mayock and friends on NFLN rated Upshaw as the biggest disappointment at Indianapolis.
  13. Sigh - really true. This is the first time I can remember there being a surplus of 3-4 players in the draft. I've been arguing the last couple years we should have stuck with 4-3 because it's harder to get the 3-4 players, but that sure isn't fitting the facts this year. Maybe I'll hold out hope that being a 4-3 team will make the Bills more attractive to Super Mario as a FA desitination??
  14. I'd much rather have Scott Chandler than Martellus Bennett. The kid's a talented head-case. He's even too much for Jerry Jones to put up with, which is why he's a FA. The same Jerry Jones who was OK with PacMan Jones on his team is tired of Bennett. He doesn't go hard consistently in games or practice. We want to spend big cash on him why?? I agree about Colston though - I'd be all over grabbing him - and with the cloud hanging over the Saints, leaving town is probably not too unappealing for him.
  15. Yup. Huge difference. He's on track to be at full speed for camp.
  16. This. No hurry with Freddy yet. They have a whole year.
  17. Interestingly, there was a guy on NFLN offering the opinion that the Rams should stay pat anyway and take Kalil - who the Vikes will probably take if they don't. If they are even considering that option they are still in a very envious no-lose position - again, as the OP's source points out, because the new bargaining agreement makes the high picks a lot less of a rip-off rookie salary-wise.
  18. Huh? What is your basis for complaining about the play of this 3rd round rookie after one season at ILB? Or if you aren't saying Sheppard is underperforming, are you arguing we need 1st and 2nd rounders at every spot on the field? Because you do know each team typically only gets one each of those per season.
  19. The Cards franchised Calais Campbell already. Avril from Detroit was franchised too.
  20. Good grief - $10M would be a big total price for a 3-year deal for him. I mean - healthy he's worth a bunch - but he's never been healthy since he started playing.
  21. That really overstates my position. My point has no direct connection to whether we think Buddy is doing a good job. We don't know yet if Buddy's plan is going to work, or if it's even smart. My point is I am sick of people bringing up points that fly in the face of the evidence and are otherwise irrelevent to argue/imply that he sucks/Ralph is cheap/noone wants to live in Buffalo... blah blah blah. I'm tired of everyone saying they won't sign anyone when OBD is making it so clear they fully intend to. What they've done in the past as far as pursuing FA is irrelevent since they already admit they don't usually (and won't much in the future). They're saying they see this year differently. I've never heard Nix say that before - so what's the argument for disputing him? As for the financial side - you'd really have to think Nix is beyond stupid to think he's talking publicly about spending money he hasn't already discussed with Littman and Wilson. I'm sure they give him a budget. I'm also sure Nix already knows what that budget is - so again, why would he overstate their position now? Add Chris Brown to that list. They aren't so stupid they don't know they are raising expectations with their talk. As for Williams @$100M - yeah - DE is tough this year. I'd be happy enough with a next-level guy at DE simply because I don't think there's anyone out there better and the prices will be even more inflated than usual. If you read Brown's blog today after the SJ signing - he closed it by yet again reminding us that OBD is targeting adding ANOTHER WR. Maybe they'll do it - maybe not - but what's the logical case for arguing they aren't serious when the whole team has been repeating it since January?
  22. Avril got tagged this morning. I think they're going to let Bell test the market - with his injury history it's hard to imagine a team would want to give him much if anything up front. If they "lose" Bell I think the chances they draft an OLT with the #10 go way up. Good point - Shanny's been the first coach to get Danny boy under control.
  23. No, YOU HAVEN'T SAID ANYTHING YET ABOUT WHO IS OR ISN'T TOP-TIER. By giving your qualifier of top-tier/mid-level you are waiting for after they sign them so you can rag on them anyway. The list is up there - who's good enough for you?
