To be clear - I meant the young Losman would probably flourish with Gailey and this OL - before Jauron's idiot coaching staff and lousy OL turned him from the NFL's 11th rated passer to a confused washout.
-
Speaking of Losman (Buffalo's last 1st round QB) - now that the OL and running game are so much better than when JP was here, he would probably flourish. His decision making was scary, but it's hard to look smart on the field when you are running for your life so frequently. I have to wonder if the WR's aren't getting really tired of their bodies put at risk by all the floaters too.

Byrd saved Fitz's butt for at least another week. I have no idea how TJ has looked in practice - I'm not a big fan of his prior work. Burns me up they didn't take a flier on some of the young QB talent out there. How sweet would 3rd rounder Russell Wilson look right now? Heck, I'd take Kirk Cousins (4th round).

Say we go 4-3...does that stop a QB change?
BobChalmers replied to dayman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This has nothing to do with game management or even throwing long pass (although that hurts). FITZ CAN'T EVEN BE COUNTED ON TO HIT A 5 YARD OUT OR SLANT!!! The Bills were lucky as hell none of his passes behind the receivers turned into INT's this time. Often even when the pass is completed, he places it so poorly the receiver has to spend time regaining their balance after the catch, ans as a result is tackled before they can pick up any yards after the catch. He absolutely was a liability yesterday - winning in spite of his terrible play doesn't change that. But again - that's all for next year - there is noone better on the roster (or otherwise available that we know of). -
If only Fitz had Nelson to throw to, then Fitz could throw the ball at his feet too. Well said, though he had some weird reads yesterday too. Early in the game there was confusion in the Cardinals secondary with just 2 DB's pointing and yellng for help pre-snap against the 3 WR on the Bills' right, but Fitz doesn't even look over there and instead tries to force it to Stevie on the left who was doubled. At this point, I think it would be fair to say that if the Bills use ANY 1st round pick on a QB in April there is a good chance they can upgrade even with a rookie.

Say we go 4-3...does that stop a QB change?
BobChalmers replied to dayman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It really is that simple. Jackson is not very good. Thigpen is horrible. Vince Young was worse than both. They didn't draft a QB - there is noone to replace Fitz. What Fitz is doing though is convincing Nix to replace him next year. That's realistically all they can do - it's too late for this season. I wish I felt better about next April's available QB's. -
Bradham [how did Nigel do in the game?]
BobChalmers replied to NickelCity's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As has been stated he looked bad in at least one coverage, but he hits HARD. The thing I noticed is how he accelerates into his hits - he's not just trying to pursue and wrap up - he's seeking hard impact. A prior thread asked who on the defense creates some fear - Bradham is the kind of LB you want out there - IF he can develop his mental game enough. And as has also been stated - for as inexperienced as he is, he looked very good. Barnett continues to be the weak link out there - missed tackles are bad at his level of ecperience - you have to believe he's either lost a step or playing with some undisclosed injury. He's also just being flat out beaten by too many RB fakes. -
What's wrong with Chan Gailey
BobChalmers replied to BillsFan130's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thank you. Gailey absolutely lost his mind, and the fact that Byrd and a miraculous FG block saved him does NOT EXCUSE HIS FOOLISH DECISIONS. -
Sorry - this is a perfect example of the mentality that Team wins = QB good. Absurd. Fitz did NOT "win" this game. The defense did. His accuracy was once again as bad or worse than any QB in the league. And don't quote completion %'s - those are affected by plays and situations - please just look at his steady stream of unforced errors - throws in the dirt, throws behind, throws too high that can get his WR's killed. The guy has never been accurate and sadly, despite David Lee's efforts, he may actually have gotten worse. There are college QB's who throw like that, but most of them don't make it to the NFL, and they sure don't become starters. If Fitz is even just average the Bills had the open receivers to have won this game by 10 or more easily. He is THE thing holding them back. (Although they clearly need to upgrade at LB to replace the aging Barnett and limitied Sheppard).

Official BILLS @ CARDINALS Game Day Thread
BobChalmers replied to Rockinon's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He just made his best play of the day centering the ball for Lindell. I really can't take his random innacuracy anymore. He fails on passes HS QB's can make. This game has proven to me they are really just a QB away from being VERY good. Problem is getting a QB can be tough. -

Insane - yes. Gailey has choked big time - it's incredible he's getting a reprieve after doing all he could to lose this game. -

Gailey will call a punt from the ARZ 30 in OT to lose it. -

Our two biggest weaknesses...
BobChalmers replied to The Voice of Truth's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
1- QB with an arm, 2- LB. You might get your defensive toughness from better LB's - that's where most tough teams get theirs. If Bradham can execute well enough he's a big help there. The offense is plenty tough. They'd look even tougher with FredEx healthy - he's clearly playing hurt. Last year we had the worst linebacking I'd ever seen - with only Barnett looking like he belonged on the field. This year we were hoping Sheppard would step up but it hasn't happened so far, and meanwhile, Barnett looks like he's hit the wall on age. -
Whose our "feared" defensive player.
BobChalmers replied to Shamrock's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The only serious answer is Kyle Williams. Other teams gameplan for him. He has at times completely blown up the OL in front of him. I am happy to see Bradham move up the depth chart, because he certainly has the potenital to be an enforcer you want in your LB corps. It might be a bit much to ask a 4th round rookie to deliver on that in his first NFL season though. Exactly. -
College Linebacker watch...little help here??
BobChalmers replied to BringBackFergy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Isn't the 6-3, 260 Brandon Jenkins more of a DE - particularly in a 4-3? I am pretty sure he was lining up on the LOS before he got hurt for the season. Btw, he's out for the season. -
Was Vince Young that bad?
BobChalmers replied to Livinginthepast's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Easy answer: YES I was hoping for more, but it didn't happen. -
Is Stephon Gilmore a potential BUST?
BobChalmers replied to Buffalo 66's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You usually see him on TV after they throw his way. He's invisible a lot of the time - those are the times he's got him man locked down. Worrying about him after 5 games is nuts. I admit sometimes he looks confused before the snap - as do a few of the players - that may well be a frustrating consequence of switching to the new scheme - they are all learning it, and new defensive schemes don't usually settle in until the 2nd season. Not what anyone wants to hear - but it's reality. -
Everyone needs to settle a bit
BobChalmers replied to Logical Reasoning's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is only half right. FredEx looked like he was playing hurt as well. He looked really slow - not surprising being hurt and wearing a brace on his knee. I'm not faulting either RB, and I don't believe in Choice, so I don't think there was a better answer. Other than two injured RB's, I saw (yet again) a QB who can make some good throws and decisions but is really bad at deep passes (so many underthrows) and spotty on accuracy, and I saw an undertalented LB corps which we kind of knew would still be an issue since Bradham and Carder were the only adds and late-round ones. I also saw both Kyle Williams and Dareus getting blown back a lot. They looked slow at the snap - multiple times it seemed like they didn't react to the snap and the OL was already firing and had them on their heels noticeably before they could move. I have never seen that before so I don't know what to make of it. -
I would really love seeing Brady at the wrong end when a voice bellows "FINISH HIM" - I can't lie. It's wrong, I know. I'll ask for forgiveness... . ..after.

I swear NFLN pays their "analysts" extra to be idiots. Under that theory, Jamie Dukes can afford to buy out Bill Gates by now. I like to think of him as the exception that proves the rule - where the rule is "offensive linemen tend to be smart." While we are at it, is anyone else nauseated by NFLN going on and on about Torrey Smith's brother, while being completely oblivious to the fact that Marcell Dareus just went through the same thing??

ESPN Week 4 Power Rankings
BobChalmers replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The part that bothers me isn't where the Bills are ranked - it's how "writers" can be paid good money to put out unresearched crap. Then later on they will be referenced by other sources as "NFL reporter for ESPN.com" or somesuch, and it's forgotten that they are idiots. I provided a long list just from this article - I did not include the Bills in my list at all. -
I have noticed the last two weeks, that because they blitz so rarely, the offenses are not as ready for it, so when they have blitzed, the blitzer gets in clean. I believe this front-four can create significant pressure without any help - particularly against what has become a really bad OL in New England. They have lost players in the off-season, and are missing more now due to injury. What we learned between the Jets and the last two games - you have to play the DBs a little tight to prevent the quick pass so that the DL has a chance to do anything.

ESPN Week 4 Power Rankings
BobChalmers replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Forget the Bills' position - how about this nonsense: (1-2) Steelers 11 spots above the team they just lost to (1-2) Oakland. (2-1) 49ers 17 spots above the also (2-1) Vikings who just beat them handily. (2-1) Ravens 6 spots over the (2-1) Eagles they lost to. (2-1) Giants 6 spots above (2-1) Cowboys, who beat the Giants convincingly on opening night. (1-2) Redskins 3 spots over the also (1-2) Rams - who beat the 'Skins. (1-2) Oakland 2 spots over the also (1-2) Dolphins who beat them. Like the commentary from the idiot talking heads (usually former players) on NFLN and to a lesser extent, ESPN - these "Power Rankings" are nothing but outdated expectations from prior seasons mixed with a load of stupid hype, What is extra stupid, is that it is perfectly possible to construct actual mathematical power rankings (RPI, etc.) as they do for college ball, but that would be too much "work" for the under educated fools who write for these "publications".
