  1. I really like the signing. I hope he tears it up Thursday.
  2. The best thing about Manuel - and he has a lot of good qualities as a QB - is that his head does not get "screwed up". Don't ever worry about that kid's psyche. Worry about the consistency of his throwing mechanics if you want - but he won't fold. He went back and forth from the bench to the field repeatedly at FSU - first backing up Ponder, then watching the next guy (his name ecapes me, but he was an FSU coach's son) and Manuel was cheering and leading no matter where he was.
  3. Did he start week 1? When was Trent Green injured?
  4. Wrong winner, justnzane!...
  5. What was Tuel's record in road games vs. Arizona and ASU?
  6. 3rd concussion plus all the other injuries - it's sad but he should retire now.
  7. Lewis + Leinhart + Tuel = 3 arms for one week. One more than needed. Kolb is done.
  8. If it's really a cut then yeah, that's a no-brainer - give the skin time to heal. I don't think they'd necessarily play him game 4 anyway. Detroit game needs to be all about deciding which WR's to keep, settling on the #2 CB, and getting the new QB(s) evaluation time.
  9. The guy the Redskins started against them in Toronto 2 years ago who the Bills sacked 10 times in one game, in a season in which the Bills had 19 sacks total! Manuel will be in. I honestly think he should consider retiring if he is really concussed.
  10. Except for one early play where he got pressure and all he had to do was raise his arms up to disrupt the pass but didn't and Grossman threw a completion right psat him - like a lot of the defense tonight he looked lazy/tired/flat...
  11. We usually agree but can't go with you on this: 1. Kolb should seriously consider retiring. 2. You can't improve a team on IR/PUP LOL - I responded w/o clicking the link!!! You got me SJ!
  12. I saw him make some plays - he's a long way from the root of the problem(s) out there.
  13. I don't think cutting Kolb at this point would shock anyone. He will exit the preseason having shown absolutely nothing except that he is among the most injury-prone QB's in recent league history. Seriously, what exactly does he bring to the team at this point, even as a backup? They were so fast signing Leinart and Beck I am very suspicious they were looking for alternatives BEFORE Kolb got hurt today. Because he looked awful in camp and preseason games last year??
  14. Feel free to mock me for this, but a young JP Losman could win with this team/coaching staff.
  15. OK - is it my imagination or did that happen impossibly fast?? IE - I am now suspicious they were already looking for Kolb alternatives, and were talking to these guys BEFORE he was injured today. Beck is pretty bad. I wouldn't cry over Leinart as a backup.
  16. The defense just looked to me like they didn't care. Not sure what was done on game-planning or not, but they looked flat from the start. Kolb was brutal to watch - again he's like Fitz on a bad day. It made my head hurt - maybe his concussion symptoms are just a projection of what we feel watching him. Seeing Spiller go down was a nightmare - can't believe he went back in - that was some relief, but I won't rest easily until I hear his MRI (assuming he gets one tomorrow) was clean. FredEx is not the same player. Bummer. Agree it's unlikely they play Thursday (?) with only Tuel - need to bring in someone to take a shot for the game. Have I mentioned I have no idea what Kolb actually brings to the table? Crud - dunno - but it's worth a try - I'm checking my pockets for the receipt!! Did we get him at Costco? They are great about returns!
  17. Well put - and says it all about Kolb. Kolb has done nothing to justify taking a roster spot. Tuel needs a refresher on the idea that it takes 10 yards for a first down. He's making Trent Edwards look like a gambler.
  18. Plus isn't Denver down to their 3rd string center?? They are ripe for a fall. San Diego has been junk for a few years now - not sure why people keep picking them to do anything.
  19. OMG I hate hearing this line. His QB rating was in the 60's both of those seasons - he was awful - and carried by his defense and running game both seasons. In fairness, he did step up his play once he they were in the playoffs, but please don't imagine he was anything but an obstacle for them actually making the playoffs.
  20. Hmm - Homey don't play English, apparently. He is believed to have privately discussed with a friend that he was open to a trade. This is definitely not the same as he openly stating he wants a trade. Same word "open" - two completely different meanings. It happens in English. Your correct move was to say from the start "oops - I misread that" and everyone would have dropped it. But you apparently enjoy shoveling - keep digging. Extremely well put.
  21. Fixed! "NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reported Wednesday that "ill will remains" between Byrd and the Buffalo Bills. The two-time Pro Bowl free safety isn't demanding a trade but is believed to be open to one, according to a person informed of Byrd's thinking." http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap1000000232635/article/jairus-byrd-open-to-being-traded-by-buffalo-bills He may well end up traded if the Bills get a good offer, but Byrd has most definitely NOT "openly stated he wants to be traded".
  22. I am sure you know this statement is inaccurate. "High upside" meas they have good physical tools with room to develop. No one ever accused Fitz of a high upside. Barkley dropped where he did because he lacked it. No high upside for Flutie either, nor Russell Wilson, nor Chad Pennington, nor... Losman was an athlete who threw a pretty bomb. He also was badly coached and made a lot of bad decisions, so he never developed his obvious potential. Edwards was the top college recruit out of college who played on a bad college team, so yeah, he seemed to have unrealized potential too. EJ Manuel certainly has that - probably more than any other QB in the draft this year, which is the same thing all the national talking heads have said about him - "more upside than any other QB coming out this year". That's why a Mike Mayock supports the pick - "If I'm going to take a gamble, I'm going to gamble on the kid with the high upside." It's true production is generally better than potential, but that doesn't mean there aren't readily apparent differences in potential, or that potential isn't worth something.
  23. It's also in a horrendous location with lousy access and has been rated the worst stadium to get to in the NFL. Not enough parking, poor rail access, and poor road access. In addition to the low-quality issues - it all around sucks. No I don't really blame them for wanting to replace it.
