The 2nd wild card spot in the AFC
BobChalmers replied to KikO M G's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am always one of the more optimistic voices on this board, but I think losing to Cleveland and Cincy is going to be the thing they can't overcome in terms of conference tie-breaks, etc. Kind of how I felt after the stupid loss to the Titans last season right before the bye - regardless of the math, that was the game they couldn't lose. Indy then cemented it. They ARE A MUCH BETTER TEAM THAN LAST YEAR - but their schedule is awful - not just the W/L of the opponents (lucky Bills - 4th place got them KC this year! woo hoo!) but the obscene scheduling of so many opponents (6 I believe) playing the Bills on extra rest. This season is about watching the defense grow in the new scheme and hopefully seeing Manuel grow. -
As others have suggested elsewhere - Tuel cut then signed to practice squad seems likely.

Thaddeus Lewis starting against Bengals

Expect a LOT more read-option now, btw. They will be fine. -
Thaddeus Lewis starting against Bengals

Well one of the main things that Thad looked so good at in his preseason appearance was using his legs to survive the pass rush. I honestly believe the Bills are going to put up some wins while EJ is out. Primarily because I think this defense - particularly with the return of the injured DB's - is going to become dominant as the weeks go on. For 5 weeks into learning a brand new (and somewhat complex) defensive system, they have been tremendous. Nearly all the lapses we've seen from them would not have happened with Gilmore and Brooks out there. -

Thank goodness - Pat White (aka Mr. 0 for 5 career passing) made zero sense over Thaddeus - who actually started and played well in one real NFL game. -
Pat White not signed at this time
BobChalmers replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I really don't get it. How is White better than Thad Lewis, who actually played a real NFL game against a good team and looked good doing it?? -
The Bills main hope going forward is their now fully healthy defense. I believe they can be absolutely dominant with the secondary now intact. The Jets won carrying a QB (Sanchez) with a 60 rating by playing great defense and running well. As for the QB's - I don't get the Pat White idea. His NFL stat line is 5 passes, all incomplete. Tuel did more than that, and I agree he's not the answer. Thad Lewis has done more than White or Dixon. If we're just bringing in one of those unproven guys, I start Thad (unless they've seen something they don't like on the p/s - but then why is he still there?) David Carr and Trent Edwards are both more capable passers.

BAM!! So true!! Not that there's anything wrong with Patrick Willis...

Woke up this morning, feeling a little better

THIS Defense may well develop into among the best in the league by season's end. If they do it fast enough - with Gilmore back they may - it's conceivable this team makes playoff push with a FA QB pickup. Jets in the past showed it can be done. Who do you imagine they will get >> Journeyman QB? Not the Bills fault - but good QB's are on teams already. -
Well, yeah duh, only Tuel on the active roster would be pretty bad even if Tuel played well last night Haha - why are you dismissing Losman??

The Bills have Released Punter Shawn Powell

In the stadium plus the ball would probably just explode - not AFTER Kiko kicked it, but BEFORE - strictly from FEAR!! -

Moorman has been getting worse for 2+ years - he WAS the rock, but he's done. -

More likely IR with Hopkins if they can do it. Hopkins (unlike Powell) was consistently good. -

All this. Now if only there was a LG to get that would help. Being an FSU grad myself, I was having fun with the FSU combo of EJ/Hopkins/Powell and Powell had great college numbers but I was kind of surprised he beat out Stahovich (?) in the preseason because these issues with Powell were already showing. -
Rate your most memorable Bills/Browns games.

Pretty sure that was at Atlanta. The fact that there are serious accusations Harmon was involved in a gambling fix may have some impact on peoples' attitudes, no?? -
What Do We Need To Do To Beat The Browns?

"What Do We Need To Do To Beat The Browns?" BRAT diet? Nothing too spicy or greasy for sure, and make sure you get plenty of water!! -
I thought the Bills Blue pants were an abomination
BobChalmers replied to Homey D. Clown's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Blue pants - "abomination"? I THINK NOT! OK - yes, I am dating myself. The OJ-Fergie era is when I started, so to me the current uniforms are glorious. -
Branch to start at DE, Easley to return kicks....
BobChalmers replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They were IDIOTS letting McKelvin return punts when the Bills are obviously so desperate for his services at CB. -
No, but the idiot Jets called him that as a nickname.

Like play more zone maybe? Maybe - but the whole defensive system is predicated on pressure and good corner play. Lack of pressure from the front certainly added to the problem, but the bottom line on the defense is without our top two CB's we're going to have trouble. Not enough depth apparently - not that many teams can go 5-deep at CB w/o feeling it badly. I think this statement is much more fair when addressing OG positions. Letting Levitre go w/o an adequate replacement plan was a major blunder. I can forgive them not planning for being without both Gilmore and McKelvin.
