My prediction Bills will Trade for a QB soon
BobChalmers replied to 17 Josh Allen's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Absolutely. I don't know who I'd call #5 - but any of Brady/Peyton/Brees/Rodgers and they are major SB contenders. Top 5 QBs don't grow on trees however. -
In fact, what we saw was the Giants leave their starting offense in an extra series so they could make up for being so bad the first two, followed by leaving their #2's in for a good while after the Bills had switched to their 3's. Both Giants TDs happened while they were mismatching strings against the Bills.

Baltimore, MD Bills Backers?
BobChalmers replied to West End Stench's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well before he goes that far, there's also the Central Maryland Bills Backers: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Bills-Backers-of-Central-Maryland/103307793109750 They meet for games at Nottingham's Tavern in Columbia not far off of I-95. -
Training Camp tweets and media reports, Week 2

Sal just jumped the shark on that one. Note his silence on Watkins' great catches. If he were a poster here I'd report him! -
Who would you trade Spiller For?
BobChalmers replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Can't imagine getting this deal - veteran RB's are worth very little - but if SF offered this I'd be all over it. I voted Cousins - he's good - but the Redskins would not have any interest - they need Cousins (RG3 is an injury waiting to happen) and don't need help at RB. -

Nor Ron Jaworski - what a tool. Oh great - Jaws volunteering a nuanced quote he knows is going to be misinterpreted certainly makes me feel better about him. He's a tool. -
Browns fans still pissed off at Modell
BobChalmers replied to Ohiostyle's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Browns fans are idiots and mindless whiners. Art Modell had the decency to leave their franchise name in town - and the NFL gave them a team back after just 4 years. FOUR years!! Do you think Buffalo would get another team back in four years?? Compare with how the Irsay's treated Baltimore fans - and insulted Johnny Unitas and everyone who played for the Baltimore Colts. Compare with the Raiders' multiple moves, or the Rams or Cardinals taking their franchise and name. Cleveland fans can go F themselves. -
Bills Steelers scrimmage on TV???
BobChalmers replied to SRQ_BillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hasn't NFL Network been showing live coverage from (parts of) scrimmages the past few years? -
Camp's about to start! Anybody miss Stevie?
BobChalmers replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
+1 (or the Pittsburgh game) I think what last year showed us is that he's not getting better about it either. -
The question was: " If you could choose any current NFL QB to lead the Bills in 2014 and beyond, who would it be?" Based on that, the poll answers are spot on - no choice other than Rodgers or Luck makes any sense whatsoever. Manning, Brady, and Brees are too old. If you believe in Luck he's a no-brainer - the greatest draft prospect in 30 years shows no sign of disappointing. He's going to be a stud for 15 years+, so he was my pick. If you aren't sure about Luck, then Rodgers is the only current top-tier QB who isn't close to retiring.

I am drinking the Whaley Kool aid and it is gooood!
BobChalmers replied to Kellyto83TD's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am generally a homer here but I think beyond injuries, there are two big questions: - We still have some real questions about the coaching staff - especially w/o the one guy (Pettine) I knew would be good last year. Marrone often looked like he was in over his head (I'll cut him some slack in his rookie season as an NFL HC) and I was less than thrilled with a lot of Hackett's decisions. - I like EJ and think he will be good but it's too soon to say for sure that he's good. -
Go on record. Who do you want?
BobChalmers replied to The Voice of Truth's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Matthews. If they can trade down and still get Martin I won't mind a bit - actually that's probably better. -
Peter King: Bills love the ODB jr.

AND Robert Woods - who already proved himself pretty well, no? -
Better Draft Day (s) coverage: ESPN or NFLN?
BobChalmers replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This precisely. Love Mayock - the rest of NFLN is trash. -
It was meant to be silly. Hopefully it didn't come across as harsh! I can't get too excited about "the best player on the board" being a guy with reports of effort issues and whose upside is compared to Vernon Davis, a player who himself took years to develop into the player he was expected to be in the NFL. Bill Polian ripped Ebron as an early pick on ESPN last night - complain to him! As for a prediction of the Bills plans, I also don't like the pick because I think they still like Moeaki and resigned Chandler, so I don't think the incentive is there to gamble at all on a TE.
-
Thanks, Mrs. Ebron. I'm sure your son will go somewhere in the first round - just not that soon. I'm with Bill Polian - just say no to Ebron.
-
This. I'f I'm mortgaging the future to move up to #1 - it's 2016 picks to move to #1 next year and take Jameis "Crab Legs" Winston. NO ONE in this year's draft looks like the kind of player that justifies moving up that hard.
-
Yeah, I'm smelling that too. Don't know it means they dump CJ yet - more a matter of seeing Fred getting older and wanting a top power back in the lineup. Could easily see it being Hyde in round 2. Here's a way to view it: They resigned Chandler and want to give Moeaki a shot. (So it's not TE) They brought in Williams and like Woods. (So it's not WR) They tried (rumors say) to get Chris Johnson but failed. (so they still want RB) So they take best available OT in the 1st then best available RB in the 2nd.
-
Yeah - I guess I wonder how the Bills OL gets better giving up the #2? If Watkins is the next Calvin Johnson it's still a great deal, but all I hear is he's the next Percy Harvin which to me is barely worth the #9 pick by itself. I mean, is that really better that getting a top OT and, say a guy like Kelvin Benjamin, who really could develop into a dominant WR working with his friend EJ Manuel? Getting both of those is entirely possible staying put, or maybe with a slight trade back up with the second. A: Stevie Johnson, Matthews, Benjamin or B: Sammy Watkins I take A. The Ginn pick was almost universally ridiculed AT THE TIME. Everyone was joking about how the coach was talking up Ted Ginn's father and what a great guy HE was. The Dolphins fans were livid.
-
Wow. I have to believe Bortles will go too. My variant guarantee: The Jets' 1st round pick will feature in roughly 10%-15% of NFLN coverage. Bonus: NFLN's Kim Jones will attempt a sex act on the Jets' pick at some point between the Day 1 and Day 2 coverage. That high?

Bills actively trying to TRADE UP.
BobChalmers replied to ChanOverChin's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That is the scary part - giving up next year's #1 when it's impossible to know for sure yet they won't need to find another QB next draft. I like EJ, but that's not the same as being certain he will be very good. Moving up w/o losing next year's #1 I would have no issue with. -
Jake Matthews will be the pick.
BobChalmers replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd love him at #9, but agree trading up for a RT would be weird. There continue to be rumors about the Bills trading up. If they did I would assume it's for Clowney (who would probably cost too much to move up for) or Watkins. -
Minor point: Russ is the team president - Doug Whaley is the GM. Did they have Russ playing the GM? (and that's Doug Whaley, not Frank Whaley, thank you NFLN imbeciles who've been calling him "Frank" in their crawler since yesterday) Thanks for the review! I'm pretty picky about my rare trips to the theater to see something, but I'll make a point of catching it on cable at least.

The Jets go 10-6 or better on NFLAM every pre-season. Even after they are mathematically eliminated they are still over-covered. NFLAM is IQ-reducing television - I watch it because it's on and talking football, but it is not a source for intelligent analysis. Geno would have to step up dramatically to match what EJ did last year. Geno sux out loud. EJ 11 TD passes, 9 INTS 77.7 QBR Geno 12 TD passes, 21 INTS 66.5 QBR Vick stinks at this point too, but I am all but certain he will beat out Geno in camp. Smith will be off the team next year. Out of the league in two.
