Disappointed In EJ After Thursday Night Detroit Game
BobChalmers replied to PolishDave's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He was thoroughly mediocre, which should be enough. All this freaking out and venting should be redirected at last year's #2 NFL rushing attack that has looked like trash in 5 preseason games. -

One on one, Ziggy Ansah was having his way with Cordy Glenn the whole time he was in there. I'm not worried about Cordy long-term, the poor kid's only been fully practicing a couple of weeks after being out for months(?) - it's not a shock he's not really ready yet. Hopefully it doesn't take too much longer to get there, because right now he's a real weak-point. -
Disappointed In EJ After Thursday Night Detroit Game
BobChalmers replied to PolishDave's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
EJ was the least poorly executing part of the offense last night. He wasn't amazing, but the OL was a mess in both run-blocking and pass-protect. If you watched the game, you would have to come away more frustrated with the running game, and the WR's let a bunch of catchable (albeit not spot-on) passes hit the ground. Apologist? Meh - EJ looks like he's executing a bit better than last year to me, and last year he put up a 77 QBR in ten games. I predict he'll finish in the top 20, by which I mean right around #20. That's not amazing, it's a bit below the median, obviously - but who the heck is expecting much more than that from him in year 2? The team theoretically has a defense and running game to win with mediocre QB play. -

I wonder what Philly is asking for Sanchez? Not that I care for his mental tools/attitude. Weird thing about his career is he had by far his best statistical year right when the defense regressed and everyone got on him for not winning.
-
This. Bizarre how with a full off-season he actually regressed. I was with OBD on this and thought he was a pretty decent #2.

Are we allowed to place bets here?

Have you actually gone and watched the KC game or just looking at stat-lines? I haven't recently but recall that Tuel's stats were not reflective of his performance. Lots of yards in garbage time and lots of YAC is my recollection - though I could be wrong. I do clearly remember that both lines were dominating the Chiefs and the running game was working extremely well. IE, it was the sort of game Thad wins easily, but beyond Tuel's upside limitations, he consistently (in what little we've seen so far) shows a mix of choking and other very poor decision making.

Jordan Palmer? I actually thought you were referring to Thaddeus last year! Funny how similar - similar background between Thad and Palmer, and recall how easy it was for Thad to come in off the street late in preseason and pass Tuel in performance such that by the season's end the team was satisfied with Thad as the #2 for this year. Not much of an endorsement for Tuel that it's probably about to happen again.

You're joking comparing Jeff Tuel to that list of actual starting QB's right? I still believe Losman and Edwards demonstrated plenty of talent but were undone by Skeletor "play to lose close" Jauron. (and Edwards' concussion didn't help) Losman completed a full 16-game season as the 11th rated QB in the NFL. Tool can't complete a game - not sure what KC game the OP was watching, but the rest of the team was dominating KC from start to finish - that loss was all on him - and not just the one play, he couldn't do anything the rest of the game either - if he had, the way the lines were dominating, he would have had a 21-point cushion to ignore a single pick 6. He looks and plays like a pretty good JuCo QB out there. Disappointing since he has a decent D1 career. 1. The possibility exists that he could be the 2nd string QB. 2. This loser actually had to play two games for the Bills (and sucked out loud) so worrying about the team STILL relying on him a year later is completely legitimate. Exactly

Marrone open to bringing in another viable QB.
BobChalmers replied to ChanOverChin's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In fairness to the article - he also made it clear (a second time since the preseason began) that he is NOT satisfied with the backup QB position. -

Why in Hades trade a mid-round pick for a #3 guy likely cut soon? exactly -

Hey honey - I get to stay home with you and the kid(s) and I get to keep the $3.1M?? Not feeling sorry for him. -
A Little Update For All Who Were On The Nassib Bandwagon
BobChalmers replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Warner was a lesser Manning in that measure - you already listed him. In fairness to your argument, I don't know if I'd call Brees a veteran when he went to NO. If Brees is a vet, then we should add Steve Young too. Wilson and Dilfer both went to SB's for their new teams. Wilson led a top offense in OAK - he was very good. It happens. You said it rarely works out, then listed 2 of your own, I've now added 4 more so we have six easy, making you seem pretty off base. Define rare? -

Wow - really incorrect, sorry. Kurt Warner, Wade Wilson, Trent Dilfer just off the top of my head. -
Did EJ have time to get this to Fred?
BobChalmers replied to fansince88's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Seriously - he obviously didn't realize how little time he had left was hoping for something to open up down field - can't tell from this angle if he had someone about to come free. Which speaks to why EJ probably thought he still had time for a play to open up downfield. -
Please watch this! Especially at 2:45
BobChalmers replied to PO'14's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I saw it plainly too - anyone who didn't wasn't watching. As for why? Maybe they were so upset about the lousy performance and the booing fans they decided to put a little out there? OK - so we're thinking the same thing then. Hopefully that doesn't hurt them in the game that matters! -
Stevie Johnson Struggling to Secure #3 Spot with 49ers
BobChalmers replied to WickedGame's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Woods was our top WR by far last year. He's now battling to be the Bills #3. SJ is no one's #1, and if he were on the Bills roster today he'd be #4 or #5. That he's even competing for SF's #3 spot is a strong indication Bills WRs > 49ers WRs. -
Bills fans not even in the top 10? WTF
BobChalmers replied to Guffalo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am certain their methodology is junk - you'll notice all the top teams were front-runners with top QB's - and their methodology was designed to identify casual fans. Hardly shocking that current front-runners have the most total fans/population. -

BobChalmers replied to WickedGame's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As what? Our #4 Cutting Goodman? Our #5 over Hogan, maybe? Graham and Easely are fighting for the #6 spot and jobs on S/T. I like him fine - but we don't have a spot for him - trading him was a no-brainer and it's awesome they got as much as they did. You're right about one thing - it is "funny [you] remember him" as "clutch". That's actually hilarious. He was a massive choker, and as you rightly point out, too often injured. -
Brawl and apparent death threat at camp today

One tweet claiming Wood said he'd "murder" the rookie, apparently - horse poop as an actual death threat - move along. -
How many people did you flip off your first couple weeks? ;-)

Seriously - this only involved one player who will be a Buffalo Bill - not sure about any "bickering Bills" connection. Second incident from the same kid - bye bye.
