  1. Funny thing is - statistically Cassel and EJ are essentially identical including INT %. This is where I struggle to see Cassel as "the low-risk guy". Tyrod is definitely a lesser passer than the other two, so if either of the other two show anything I don't see how he starts. Having said that - I have no preference based on the latest. Hope OBD guesses right!
  2. Yeah, and I'm pretty comfortable Sammy knows how to play the position. OTOH they have a lot of good depth guys below Sammy/Robert/Percy and they need to figure out who they're keeping. Won't be easy.
  3. The "hardship" reason is F-ING B.S. - for an adult anyway. For a punk piece of crap like Geno, who knows. If I have made a commitment to be somewhere, and then someone even dies in my family (not clear that really happened here), I CALL the people I've committed to and let them know I can't make it. <- not speculation - I've been through it. The money is minor in this - the fact that Smith is a POS punk is all of it. If any of his teammates gave a crap about Geno they would have broken up the argument before the punch was thrown. That they didn't is all you need to know. If you haven't heard both Revis' and Coach Bowles' (second) interviews, they are both including Geno in the blame. That's really telling given that they cut the LB and only Geno was injured.
  4. Obviously he has none. This was also reported prior to the draft where he "fell" to the 2nd round, (along with how his college success was predicated on dump-offs with big YAC) although many in the media glossed it over.
  5. In other words, Geno "just texting my junk" Smith is a crap QB AND a crap human being. No news here.
  6. Let me help with that - THANK YOU ASTROBOT!!
  7. Anyone who says the QBs looked the same in the scrimmage is confused at best. And your Coach Ryan "quote"(??) sounds like it was from earlier in the week - that sort of stuff Is why we like to say "Link or it didn't happen" around here. The second question after the scrimmage Ryan was asked about the QB play: here's the link to what was ACTUALLY said: http://www.buffalobills.com/video/videos/Rex-Ryan-Guys-stood-out-to-me-on-defense/95ee1cc4-0287-4af5-a897-f4f5afd6c169 THE FIRST THING RYAN SAID ABOUT THE QBs WAS "I really thought EJ did a nice job." and "I was impressed by EJ" (roughly 3:20 in) "Tyrod, I was a little disappointed him...", and he said nothing much about Cassel's play - just that they were running the ball when he was in. Then when he's asked again about the QB competition he says he "was hoping to see something else pop through there" (I assume more clear separation) at around 7:15 but then he goes back to how pleased he was with EJ. Rex Ryan has been saying for weeks now that the scrimmage and the first preseason game will have a lot to do with the QB competition.
  8. Fascinating is about the nicest thing I can say. What did you read? Which of Cassel's 2 completions has you excited? Taylor's "big play" was a 5-yard dump off that O'Leary took through traffic for ~30. Which of his plays am I missing? Manuel led 2 of the only three scoring drives on the night, and had all three of the top passing plays other than O'Leary's. Let's be clear here - NONE of the QB's looked great - the Bills's defense was the star of the show last night, as it has been throughout camp. I'm only saying (along with nearly everyone else, including OBD - the only ones who get a vote - that EJ had the best night of the 3) Yeah - if he had been avoiding INT's in practice I'd be more on board with him as the "caretaker" for the run-first, elite defense team, they are obviously planning to be. He has been going through his progressions better, by most accounts, but he's had more than his share of bad throws too.
  9. And again, OBD is telling you where things stand. Look at the highlight reel - it's all EJ with a touch of Tyrod. There's your 2015 starter and backup - as things stand today - folks. Cassel is starting Friday with and against 1's as one last chance to lose or save his roster spot. My prediction is he'll be gone before the first cuts so they can be ready to grab someone with his $4M. << Assuming this money is recoverable - I don't claim to know if it is.
  10. I recommend you find one of the threads that has the whole play-by-play of last night's scrimmage, because what you are saying sounds like it's out of ignorance. Whatever one thinks of his ultimate chances - EJ won the QB competition hands-down last night. Cassel continues to show nothing and was inaccurate himself last night, as was Taylor, whose yards were mostly on scrambles while wearing a red shirt and YAC.
  11. I'd phrase is as more that much of the sports media are lazy as hell and rely on group think and regurgitating each others' half-informed opinions, which makes the end result pretty useless information for the people who are supposed to be their end customers. It's particularly annoying to see newspaper writers do such a poor job, given how precious and rare their jobs are in a dying industry. Right - which is to be expected because they are so pathetically lazy.
  12. Roughly a third of Tyrod's passing yards were YAC by O'Leary on a 5-yard dump off, so his play wasn't as good as the stats looked. EJ suffered two drops from his receivers so his day was clearly the best. Cassel is playing for his spot on the roster against the Panthers' ones Friday. He's shown nothing to justify his roster spot, much less his salary and associated cap space. I also have a "propaganda" theory about these things - nearly all the offensive highlights up on OBD from last night are EJ, and clearly show that it's him throwing the ball. They want him to win, and again, Cassel hasn't shown anything - not even less propensity to throw INT's in practice.
  13. Yup - Cassel starting because he is playing for his job against the Panthers' #1's. Worth noting, a big chunk of Taylor's yards were YAC on a nice play by O'Leary.
  14. Inspired by Bills fans, the Bucs fans will be running Winston out of town before the first preseason game - OBD can look for him on waivers shortly.
  15. This. It's no different from the DirecTV Sunday Ticket broadcasts. Yahoo got the rights to carry the CBS broadcast. They aren't doing it "for Yahoo" - they're doing it for the NFL and the NFL has the rights to rebroadcast it on Yahoo. Tell me you've never heard this before... "Any reuse or rebroadcast of this telecast w/o the express written consent of the National Football League is strictly prohibited."
  16. Fundamentally Sully's problem is exposed in this - it's the start of training camp, and he's writing a Bills article about something non-football. His problem is he doesn't actually like football - makes him a bad choice for a sports beat on a newspaper - especially when newspapers are a dying industry and there are far more good reporters out there then there are precious jobs like the one being wasted on Sully.
  17. Knowledgeable media have discussed this on TV this morning - that seemingly weak language is actually the very threshold they need to achieve for punishment to be administered.
  18. The correct answer is one game - IE he will return to action in time to beat the Bills on a late drive.
  19. I can confirm all of that - as of a couple of years ago anyway. They cannot ban dishes of that size - they made a law for that. If you can confirm (verbally) that you can't get line of sight, you can just rent the Sunday Ticket online.
  20. Actually, Luck was a better prospect than Manning - hands down. Your basic point is OK - but it's tiring listening to people not grasp what sort of prospect Luck was. He was universally regarded as the greatest draft prospect since Elway - Manning was not close. Luck had NO WEAKNESSES coming out of college - he's as fast as Cam Newton with a cannon arm that Manning never had.
  21. Depends on the price - I don't really believe in him but the upside is tempting... EJ as part of the deal? Nah and I don't see why they'd want him. Honestly the Redskins have two other reasonable options at QB already in Cousins and McCoy. If they aren't getting a top QB (which they won't) they should just want draft picks.
  22. +1 Not even every bartender knows what they're called - which I've always found odd. Right near the top of my favorites. Properly pronounced "Cape Coddah" btw!
  23. Honestly, I think Fitz > Cassell and I'd rather have Matt Moore than either of them. Having said that, I believe EJ will emerge and silence most of the critics this year, so I'm not worried about QB beyond the obvious "it would be nice to have Rogers or Luck" nonsense.
  24. COACHING The same guys who were excellent under Gailey/Delasandros deteriorated rapidly under Marrone/Morris. Even Wood was noticeably worse. They will be good again this year. Marrone was so out of his depth - and the rest of the NFL obviously knew this by not showing any real interest in hiring him
  25. I'm ready for the Nick O'Leary era at TE for the Bills. Waiting and wondering about Clay is getting t me too.
