  1. O'Leary was the Mackey award winner and deserved to be so. As an FSU guy who's seen nearly all their games for a while, he always made big plays, tough catches, etc. The guy I've heard about in Bills' practices, and seen in pre-season games doesn't look like the same guy. Big disappointment, but he showed too much in college not to give him a good long chance to catch up. OTOH - I am astonished at how well Karlos Williams has been doing. I thought he was a possible bust - great athlete but seemed very raw as a runner, terrible at finding the hole, etc. Not surprising for a kid who switched from Safety to RB just a couple of years ago, but I'm glad to see I was wrong about him (or he's improved a lot)!
  2. Redskins are the worst team, 49ers will come close and may pass them for the worst record.
  3. So how long before we find out if O'Leary clears waivers?
  4. What I know is that if ALL of that happens, they will do much better that 10-6. That's the dumb part of these articles - they are refusing to project the playoff turnover that happens everywhere else in the NFL on to the Bills and for essentially emotional reasons.
  5. Say what? The books win the ties - they are all about getting the line splitting the public evenly.
  6. IE the betting lines are based on the national collective group-think. Not based on any analysis of the relevant facts to winning and losing. The books don't care if they are right on the outcome - they only need to be at the 50/50 point of the bettors.
  7. No I didn't read it here on TBD - so please edit your post. MULTIPLE talking heads on NFLN (not that they are terribly bright either) have said that. AND NOT the BEST at EACH of 21/22 - the best/among the best in TOTAL 21/22, obviously. Just one link easy to Google - http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000493967/article/seahawks-jets-and-eagles-among-nfls-most-talented-teams Bills #2.
  8. The same teams that "have the best defense in football".
  9. Fun poll - list needs work. Best pick-up is Greg Roman. 2nd is Kromer. TT 3rd.
  10. His "points" aren't even logical points. They will do worse than last year - because they cut Fred Jackson? - because 2 1st round picks was too much for Watkins? - because EJ is a bust? - because 2 seasons ago they were going to start Kolb? How does any of that drop them from 2nd to 4th in a year? His argument wasn't based in anything real - ultimately it was really more an argument of "I don't like the Bills' decisions lately"... Not really the same thing at all, particularly since all but the cutting of Fred were true already last year. To say this guy made no sense is generous. How in Hades does the "best defense in football" and a "competent offense" equal only 10-6??? This is what is bugging me about the intellectual inconsistency (dishonesty, flat-out laziness?) of nearly every national media buffoon. All pre-season we heard from multiple national sources "the Bills have the best or nearly the best team 21/22 positions - if only they had decent QB play they'd be a playoff team looking to go deep. Now they have a QB solution that's almost certainly better than what they were expected to have when those comments were made, and somehow they're back to be 9-7 or worse?
  11. Quick check of rosters - the following don't have a 3rd QB... (12/32) Raiders Patriots Chargers Ravens Bengals Jags Colts Cowboys Giants 49ers Lions Falcons
  12. If he plays lights out you let Dareus or Mario go - as OBD has said all along - you wouldn't invest what they do in the DL if you had a stud QB.
  13. No one is going to claim him at any salary.
  14. I agree about the defense - I think Rex might have a blind spot on expectations for the CBs and a lack of appreciation for how right a fit Schwartz's scheme was. Why the heck would you blitz when your front four can lead the league in sacks w/o blitzing? Missing Leodis is going to exacerbate the issue. My prediction is they will give up big plays but also make a lot of big plays, allowing more yards, maybe more points, but getting even more sacks and INTs which will be a wash for the team but lower them in the standard stats rankings - sort of back to where Pettine had them or just a hair better. However, I really think the offense will be more than 10 spots better. The OL is MUCH better, both from replacing the awful guards with two talented ones, and even more by the massive coaching upgrade. Add to that Clay, Felton, McCoy, and even if TT just holds his own this is at least an average (13 spot improvement) offense. I say T-Mobile goes all RG3 rookie season and they jump to 11 on offense!
  15. Even if EJ looked only slightly better than he had in his 14 pro starts, his NFL career stat line was nearly identical to Cassel's decade of stats. PLUS EJ has an upside, Cassel does not. PLUS Cassel costs $4.5M, EJ costs $1.5M Honestly, I don't understand how this was even close.
  16. Here are a few more: Shady McCoy >> Spiller/FredEx Charles Clay > Chandler Ritchie Incognito >> Brown or whoever (I've blocked the OLG play from 2014 out of my mind and they aren't worth me looking up) Jon Miller >>>> Pears Jerome Felton > Frank the Tank (though I loved Frank) TEE-MOW-BILE! > Orton Greg Roman >>> Junior Hackett Kromer >>> Morris Even with a decimated skill position roster in the preseason the Bills were running all over every opponent. Serious point being the Bills upgraded at 6 of 11 offensive positions and got worse at none. It's completely non-homer-rational to think the Bills will be MUCH better on offense.
  17. Shady should be licking his chops at the prospect of running against a Colts defense minus Arthur Jones.
  18. I have three reasons. Darrelle Revis Brandon Browner Vince Wilfork
  19. It was Kellen Moore.
  20. The OP managed to confuse the heck out of me but it finally registered - you can't count EJ's salary for 2016 like Cassel's in 2015 because if OBD pays EJ his 2016 salary the Bills get a QB (EJ) in 2016 for that money. Paying Cassel's salary in 2015 doesn't get them a QB in 2016 so they still have to spend more on top of that for a QB. The only legitimate comparison is Cassel's $4M vs. EJs 1.5M (less guarentees) in 2015. If we add in EJ's 2016 money we have to compare that to whatever other QB they have to sign to fill his spot - presumably for less than Cassel's $4M but who knows. $1.6M is pretty cheap even for a backup QB.
  21. Maybe if first downs become less of a novelty they'll stop feeling the need to celebrate them?! I suspect the Pats* stadium only needs added sound effects on actual SCORING plays.
  22. Wow that is one helluvalotta $$$$$$$ for a backup OG!
  23. I'm not worried about Simms making the P/S - Dezmin Lewis I don't think would clear waivers.
  24. Rex has been complaining publicly about the TE's through much of camp and preseason. They all did better more recently, but as far as I could see, O'Leary didn't even play against Pittsburgh. He's P/S or picked up by someone else - this thread is not surprising - this has been suspected for a while. Well, he won the college award for best TE in the nation, so there's that. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Mackey_Award He was very good at FSU, but he's been showing terrible hands in Buffalo. I'm an FSU guy, and after the draft, I thought O'Leary was a steal, and Karlos Williams would be a bust. This just based on watching nearly all their games. They both surprised me.
