  1. No. "The question" is answered. Seriously - the Pegulas are not even a little like Ralph - they overpaid for the team and will spend whatever it takes. Does a McDermott hire mean they let Gilmore go? Zone-focused teams don't need to be spending $20M/year on a CB.
  2. He was a 3rd string QB who got a big shot on a great OSU team b/c of TWO injuries, then lost his job the following year. He's a 4th round developmental reach in the NFL. What's there to "give up" on? He might turn into something based on physical tools, but there's no great reason to expect it.
  3. THIS Buffalo media is the dysfunctional dumpster fire here. Pegula's interview with the AP explained everything pretty well - as others have said, TBN is just pissed they don't have access. Carucci lost all his insider connections when the Pegulas bought the team. He's been making stuff up ever since.
  4. In fact, down here in the DC area, their Sports Radio sounds remarkably like the Bills'. There is definitely a debate on whether to keep him - much as with Tyrod, they don't think Cousins is bad, and might be better than other options, but are balking at the likely price ~$26M Oh yes - because an opinion piece in the local paper drives most NFL teams' thinking.
  5. Meanwhile, Pegula answered all their questions - just not to them - his exclusive AP interview today addressed all of it. Buffalo "news/sports" media is trash and out of the loop.
  6. Yes - the problems on defense are mostly coaching. They need specific things - 1 or 2 safeties, other than that the D talent is fine. Gilmore can be let go if they switch back to a scheme that isn't so absurdly demanding of the CBs which Rex's scheme is. Spend that money on Tyrod for now, draft a stud OT, WR with size and skill, and a Safety and they are fine with decent coaching.
  7. Jimbo denied it - guess you have to decide who to believe... http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000406584/article/jimbo-fisher-denies-badmouthing-ej-manuel-to-nfl-teams What a nonsensical comment. You do know the difference between apples and oranges, right? Next question - do you think the Bills' scoring this year was more due to TT or Shady and TD Mike? Compare the running game (even minus TT's stats) now to 2013-2014.
  8. I didn't love EJ's play at FSU (I'm an alumnus and fan) and thought he was a good developmental prospect - not a 1st rounder. He was clearly the best available QB that year though - anyone with a brain knew Geno was a trash system QB whose stats were all padded with 5-yard dumps that went for big YAC. We do know from both of the last 2 seasons is that he's been the best QB on the roster in preseason play. That's not worth a lot, but it's something, and it's certainly worth finding out if he has, in fact, developed some since we last saw him. If you don't think TT is the long term answer, then keeping EJ around until we find that guy makes a lot of sense.
  9. And yet, EJ still led a comeback and left the field with a lead that the defense and ref's took from him. The London game was and still is WAY overblown in evaluating Manuel.
  10. YES - Prescott was a MUCH better QB in college. Cardale was the 3rd stringer at OSU but played due to injury. Dak was a dominant force in his Junior(? second to last) year at Mississippi State.
  11. Most importantly, Overdorf does NOT decide how valuable a player is on the field. He does a pretty damned good job of getting the players signed that he is asked to get signed. Sorry, but I think the OP's anger is misplaced.
  12. This - and frankly that makes more sense than Cardale or TT playing. LOL - I see what you did there! Right - even if one thinks it's highly unlikely EJ has improved enough to consider as a future starter, why not try him out? Cardale isn't ready and also isn't going anywhere next season. TT is done at his price - in 13 games this season he hasn't had a single start that would justify his contract, much less make a real case. It's entirely conceivable EJ is the best option to start next year (along with a high pick rookie).
  13. I'm pretty worried about it. If Tyrod gets hurt enough to trigger that clause OR they lose Rex should be fired immediately.
  14. That's about right - it would be pretty surprising if he coached again in the next year or two. Simply because his defenses have not been good in 4 years, and especially damning that the Bills D regressed badly since he took over, I suspect the league consensus is that the game has passed him by/his scheme doesn't work anymore. Rob's going to have to find a college d/c job or maybe work as a position coach - his track record being even worse. It's sad really - and especially believing that they were really determined this year to honor their father with a good performance. I certainly wanted it to work, but from the way I've seen the team NOT respond to his coaching and the overall lack of attention to detail that seems to be everywhere in his style, I agree with those who say he's just not a good enough coach/schemer anymore.
  15. Claims he grew up a Bills fan - all we need to do is get him a QB who throws him the ball and he'll stay.
  16. Put simply, Rex was handed the keys to one of the league's best defenses (that he himself said should have been #1 based on talent) and turned it into mediocre crap. REX WAS HIRED OVER WHALEY'S OBJECTION. It's not on Whaley. In fact, given that (we hear) that Whaley was opposed to the hire, if I'm the Pegulas I'm doing what Whaley tells me this off-season.
  17. Yes - and btw, EJ has also been the best pre-season QB on the team two straight years, FWIW. Not saying he's great - I'm an FSU guy and wasn't thrilled about taking him, but EJ's numbers are extremely solid for a young QB at his stage/# of games.
  18. TT was Rex's pick, and Rex got everything he wanted in the draft. Whaley's the guy who found Lorax and Zach Brown and TD Mike
  19. Yeah - people never give EJ credit for being clutch late - something TT is definitely not. Everyone freaked out about the London game - but forget EJ left the field with a lead and the ref's stole that from the defense at the end.
  20. I think it's unlikely they will find better any time soon. With the rest of the team intact - particularly Watkins and Woods, he can make plays - has in the past. Did you see him missing open guys today? Again zero INTs - want to trade for Fitz?
  21. Already got Hunter who is a steal at this point in the season. Not going to find anything better than him as a FA. What should they give up in trade?
  22. You'd better hope Dareus is a difference maker, b/c right now this DL is small and worn out.
  23. Sure, but there is no chance of the Steelers winning this game w/o Rothelsberger
  24. Our players are dropping like flies - AGAIN - what do they do wrong at OBD to not field a moderately healthy roster EVERY YEAR? Very true - a healthy Dareus presumably changes that - hope he's back soon and plays well.
  25. LeSean was one player too many. The offense was completely w/o playmakers today. Bigger worry is the defensive line getting destroyed by the Fish OL - that needs to stop.
