2017 NFL Draft: Round 1 discussion

How concerned are you about EJ or Geno turning it on? These guys are all junk. Mahomes MIGHT become something in a few years. -

No - the point here was to get ready to draft a much better QB next year when they exist ALL the QBs this year were trash - 2007/2011 all over again -
Bills trade #10 for #27, a 3rd, and 2018 1st

Yeah - I would have liked that 2nd too - no guarantee about KC though - and they basically don't get a 1st rounder this year since if Mahomes plays they are doomed -
Bills looking to move down: rapoport

Seriously - this draft is supposed to be all about the depth - that would be amazing assuming they stick it to ATL for a bigly pile of picks! -
The hype about RG3 was always that - HYPE. BS the media was stirring up to make the draft exciting, and Redskins owner Dan Snyder was just the sort of fan-turned-owner idiot to fall for it. Andrew Luck was the highest rated prospect since BEFORE Manning - you have to go back to Elway to find a higher rated QB prospect. RG3 was not remotely ever in Luck's class as a prospect. None of this year's QB's are worth a first - much like the EJ/Geno year. Maybe a second for some of them.

That's the dream scenario right there. Not a hard decision for me, btw. Everyone agrees this is a bad year for top QBs - kind of like the year they forced it and went with EJ - and at least then, they were super smart to trade down first for that superb second round of Kiko and Woods. With this situation, if one team loves "the biscuit" they should make them pay with mutiple #1's.

FWIW I came away from watching Gruden's QB camp shows this weekend wanting Mahomes. Watson had EJ written all over him. Great guy. Not great NFL QB skills. Even Gruden's end quote was telling - "I want him on my team, I want him in my family." He didn't say "I want him starting at QB for me." Yup, EJ. Trubisky looked and sounded as raw as his 13 games would imply. He might be the best available, but who knows. Peterman was sharp as a tack, nice accuracy, noodle arm. The second coming of Chad Pennington. Mahomes impressed the hell out of me. Beast physical talent and fiery attitude. The Favre comparisons seem about right. He'd be amazing behind Tyrod too - Tyrod knows how to not throw silly interceptions - the one thing Mahomes will do. His father was an 10-year MLB pitcher so he grew up seeing what it takes, and also his serious Texas draaaaaawwwwll cracks me up.

He was a 4th rounder QB - he doesn't have to be a "bust" to not be a franchise QB. If we was expected to be a franchise QB, he wouldn't have been there. That's not to say anyone has to give up on him improving, but you want to be realistic about his chances when making decisions about who else to get. "Oh we don't want Mahomes if he's there in the 2nd - because we have Cardale Jones" would not be a logical statement.

why draft a raw QB when we've got Cardale on the roster

+++100! I really don't understand why people assume Cardale is any good at all. Please remember he lost his starting job on his college team - a starting role he only got as a third-stringer after two injuries ahead of him. I'm not trying to hate on him - he has good basic physical tools, and had a brief run of tremendous success at OSU - but he was a 4th round pick for a reason. -
Absolutely NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Current Bills' uniforms are widely acknowledged around the league as among the very best in the league. Red helmets are ugly as sin, and were a sad attempt to stop our beloved Fergie from throwing so many picks when the division foes (Pats, Jets, Fish, Colts) all wore white hats. He's retired and our division foes no longer have 4 other white helmets to distinguish them from. I too have a Kelly-autographed red helmet in a lucite box. On the shelf, where it belongs.

Yeah - that was the second silly part of this thread. So true.

I hope you're wrong given how very deep DB is supposed to be this year. TE is deep too though. I wouldn't hate taking Howard though - he seems well beyond the rest. WR is the position of need and less depth - seems like a no-brainer if one of the top 2 guys gets to them.
-
Not sure where you're getting that idea. 1st round TE's are the least likely busts of any position.

Favre shouldn't even be on the list - being the all-time leader in throwing interceptions is NOT GOOD.

Hackett Hired as new Jaguars OC

Not true - Brady played the first half - he was getting smacked around and he was losing when they decided to keep him out for the second half. -
