  1. The effort to make it confusing to the offense can confuse your own defense if they haven't had years of practice in the scheme. See Rex Ryan's Bills the last two seasons. As others have stated, just the act of moving around to be deceptive can leave guys out of position even if they know where they are supposed to be.
  2. Well if we can have a few less 3-and-outs hopefully the defense will be able to catch their breath. Our old-guy leaders KW and Lorax can't be left on the field 45 minutes a game. A dominating defense CAN get themselves off the field, of course, but that's not what McD has designed here - from the beginning they've been bend but don't break. That can get them worn down if the offense doesn't hold the ball a bit.
  3. I picked up Zay Jones. I drafted him and cut him a couple weeks back. Taylor's inaccuracies were really hurting him and his confidence in my opinion. I'm betting the NP to ZJ combo is going to a big one. The CoT lives on. Long live the 6th-round backup who came to Buffalo and beat out EJ Manuel and Matt Cassel!! I'll take a bet on that, btw - I believe Taylor will never start again except as a clear placeholder for an existing rookie heir apparent. I really don't see Peterman as a gunslinger based on what play I've seen. He makes fast decisions and gets the ball out. That's just called good NFL QB play. Never been a big fan of Favre myself - threw way too many picks. The issue with Taylor is that not throwing interceptions by not throwing the ball isn't really a useful approach - he's consistently at the bottom of the league in time-to-throw and that unsurprisingly leads to sacks which aren't a whole lot better that INTs.
  4. I saw your comment - don't know if you voted
  5. Great question - wouldn't that screw them on their 2018 cap though? In my mind one potentially good thing about moving on from Taylor - even if they decide they need to draft a QB first round - is that it would clear enough money to keep both KB and Matthews where currently the talk has been that they won't b/c of money.
  6. hehe - me too - no problem!!! - and I can't remember what I said the first time so there's also that! I know I _wanted_ Peterman to start early, and even had my own poll about how good Peterman would have to play week 1 in the event of TT's concussion not clearing in time.
  7. uhm... I just looked - YOU RESPONDED TO THE ORIGINAL POLL YOURSELF!! <facepalm>
  8. ROFL - I try to be positive-guy here but this made me bust up. Somehow as a Bills fan, we believe this might really happen!!
  9. No - people judge NP based on his draft prospects. TT's evaluation/prospects were never even that good before he got to Buffalo. Taylor was expected to be a starter by absolutely no one until he fit on a team with a run heavy scheme and two lousy QB's to compete with for the job. He was a backup before his competition became EJ Manuel and Matt Cassell - neither of whom were successful NFL starters for any length of time.
  10. LOL - it's a 3-6 team (1-3 at home) with no fan support and quite possibly w/o their starting QB. Best possible situation for NP except possibly home vs. Indy +1
  11. Tyrod is a problem to fans with functional eyesight because he is the slowest QB in the league to make a decision with the ball. The signing of Kelvin Benjamin and Tyrod's inability to use him (followed immediately by Peterman's ease of doing so) sealed his fate. I knew it was ominous for TT going into the game. Can't whine about the WR's anymore.
  12. The number of folks here determined to not believe in a "5th round" rookie but are dedicated to a 6th round journeyman/backup... smh
  13. I've seen more graceful - it's tough for sure, but at $16M he paid to do tough things.
  14. Please add TB and Oakland wins where the defense carried the team and TT's offense repeatedly couldn't capitalize.
  15. Because teams can stop you from getting away by rushing 5 while maintaining lane discipline. In the NFL the ONLY way to beat pressure is to throw the quick pass and force the defense to back off.
  16. I'll bet right now with any interested parties that TT does NOT get a starting job next year WITH the exception of a team that takes a 1st round QB. IE he won't start except as a placeholder for a clear heir apparent.
  17. Well for his sake let's hope he doesn't turn his benching into something racial - as he was recently with his critics.
  18. If you've ever seen them standing next to each other you'd know better. TT's published height is exaggerated.
  19. One other related consideration - if Peterman is at least good enough that NP + a rookie next year is a good enough QB situation going forward, they can let TT and his salary go and keep KB AND Matthews if they wish.
  20. It would come out anyway based on practice reps and/or leaks no?
  21. I had a lot more respect for him before he went on that (racial) whining tour in the press a couple of weeks ago - coincidentally (?) right before the Bills imploded. No Tyrod - it's not that you're black - it's that you take way too long (if ever) to throw the ball. Slowest time to release in the league at one point (haven't seen the latest numbers).
  22. And other people love QBs who should be backups and can't make nice throws for a whole game including in garbage time.
  23. Actually TT makes the OL look MUCH WORSE. He holds the ball longer than any other QB in the league - that does not help. Peterman, in fact, makes the OL look fine, because he gets rid of the ball very quickly. The Saints game looked a lot like the Ravens preseason game. Taylor gets mugged taking too long against an aggressive defense, Peterman comes in and immediately makes quick reads and throws which takes the teeth out of the pass rush. BULL. Taylor was also playing in garbage time and STILL COULDN'T move the ball. Same situation as Baltimore preseason game, except that time Taylor was hurt so he left early, and AGAIN Peterman's quicker decisions backed the pass rush off enough to get the offense moving. He's worse than Captain Checkdown - Taylor takes the sack more often than he checks down. At that point then Beane needs to step in and tell McDermott they have to figure out how badly they need a QB in the 2018 draft. IE they HAVE to figure out they have in Peterman before next April.
  24. Giving our old men on D a chance to catch their breath will. Surely all the TT-addicts on this board can grasp that?
