Eric Wood has career-ending neck injury; will retire
BobChalmers replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wood had some pretty bad injuries through his career and kept plugging - I'm glad he got to experience getting into the playoffs! -
So your core argument stands pretty strong - they have literally not ever really tried to make the move for an elite guy - heck Kelly was the 3rd QB taken, right?
-
By that measure I don't think they thought of Manuel as "elite" either. You don't trade down for an elite QB.

Sorry but that's just false. He played reasonably well (dramatically better than TT) in the one preseason game against starters (@ Ravens). Similar to the Jags game, the Bills OL was not protecting the QB worth a damn - not coincidentally again replacing a concussed TT who couldn't move the team at all before being injured. He only had what? TWO PLAYS? against the Jags - and the Bills were in a hole - the Jags knew it was all pass. I will allow his pass to the outside was too weak, but Ramsey still had to make a miraculous play to get it. He looked plenty good against the Colts in obviously brutal conditions.

Zay Jones played injured all season...
BobChalmers replied to Domdab99's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
BOOM!!! SO SO VERY TRUE. Damned difficult to get much YAC when you have to stop and reach back for a ball thrown a yard behind you or stoop over to pick up a ball thrown at your toes. OMG THE CoT IS STRONG IN THIS ONE!!! "lost by one score" ???? AS IF TAYLOR PLAYS DEFENSE. Quick recap : TT led the offense to THREE POINTS 3!! -
Pieces needed to win AFC East in 2018
BobChalmers replied to Tatonka68's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You do realize if they split with the Pats* in '17 they would have been 10-6, so you're only asking for two more wins better than that? You don't think an upgrade at QB, OC, and all that draft capital could do that? -

How are the Bills not a great fit? -
Mularkey now out in Tennessee as HC

If they are anything like him, I would have assumed it was Gregg Williams' family that was harassing and threatening other people! Sensei Greggo: "Sweep the leg!!!" -
It's hard to read about the NFL.

Zay Jones played injured all season...
BobChalmers replied to Domdab99's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Actually, I am sure it would, if by "hands" one means "ability to catch" and grip a ball. More arm, shoulder, and chest strength involved than actual hands. -
Sure - they are widely regarded as one of the best looking uniforms in the league, but lets mess with them. Let's go back to red helmets while we're at it! One more time for the youngsters - the red helmets were just an attempt to get Joe Ferguson to stop confusing our team with the other 4 teams in the AFC East, who all also had white helmets - and throw fewer interceptions as a result. It didn't work, AND they are ugly as sin. And they were widely regarded nationally as among the ugliest uniforms in the league.

QB Draft Stats: probability of finding That Guy
BobChalmers replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm not going to tell you to recalculate anything - I will point out the fact that your sample size in the first round sub-groups beyond the top 5 is definitely too small to use for any prediction. Your 19% value for the 27 guys picked 6-32 is all good, and I think your core points are valid. I had heard the 50% number before for the top guys. Pretty scary if you want to trade a bunch to get up there. I really think they have the money to go hard after Cousins or Garrapolo (if SF can't lock him down in time) - assuming they let TT go and maybe Glenn. Seems like a better play and leaves them all 5 picks in rounds 1-3 to build around him and repair holes in defense. -
Mccoy turns down offer
BobChalmers replied to Chadwick Bay Chad's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't know anything about others' sources here but trusting Carucci's connections has to be sarcasm, right? Carucci's been painfully out of the loop with OBD since the day the Pegulas bought the team. -
In fairness it's pretty widely reported (rumored?) that Rico was never McD's first choice. He had a limited pool to draw from in year 1.

Don't Draft a QB, Package The Picks For This Instead

How have you decided that every FA QB in the league doesn't want to be in Buffalo? -
Don't Draft a QB, Package The Picks For This Instead
BobChalmers replied to yungmack's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hmm - overpay a bit for Cousins (or Garrapolo) and keep all your picks or (broken) Luck and trade away all your picks.... hmmm... Both will cost you about as much $$$$$$$ -
Well - let's see how he holds up this off-season. He's one misstep away from a season long suspension, no?

Poll: Will Dennison Be Fired?
BobChalmers replied to Fadingpain's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have to say Chris Brown sure sounded yesterday like OBD was willing to blame Dennison's troubles on Tyrod and not the other way around - though that was before the guys with connections to Team McBeane became available.
