  1. Wow - given that his mechanics are a genuine concern, I believe he will be punished for this big time on draft day. With the other guys being there, this reeks of fear he won't match up.
  2. I seriously think there will be SEVERAL busts in this first round. Lamar Jackson - great talent, does awesome stuff on the field BUT I can't shake the thought that with his frame and style of play he will be broken every year. (see RG3) Sam Darnold - Has all sorts of intangibles, blah blah, BUT his mechanics are awful and how often have you seen that get corrected in the NFL? (see Brady Quinn) Sequon Barkley - great RB talent across the board BUT didn't PSU give us equally gifted Ki-Jana Carter and Blair Thomas... (he faded against the better competition later in the year btw) Allen - Great physical gifts BUT lousy completion % and how often does that get corrected in the NFL (see Kyle Boller) Mayfield - winner, big numbers, Heisman, BUT too short and played in a friendly non-NFL system. (a somewhat better Manziel) Rosen - "most NFL ready QB in the class" BUT wasn't what they said about Peterman?? Also his attitude stinks and he doesn't care about football (the next Ryan Leaf!)
  3. Nope - he was tenured - full-professor with a guaranteed life-time research position!!
  4. I'm just not grasping the Darnold love - he's a QB with brutal mechanics who had a bad season, came up small against good defenses, and threw a lot of picks. How much of a pass can he get just based on 2016? Darnold is my candidate for the "QB who will shock everyone by sliding way down the board."
  5. Did you really need to paste the entire OP to make that point? And yeah, among the rookies Rudolph seems the most like "their guy". I don't love taking the guy who lost to the other guy (Mayfield) in the big game situation where they played each other. OTOH, Peyton Manning also had concerns raised about his arm strength. That's why some scouts like Ryan Leaf better.
  6. OK - what about Darnold gets people excited? I get that he was the top prospect entering the season, but he was NOT GREAT this year, too many picks, bad against good defenses, and he was already known to have horrible mechanics. He has bust written all over him to my eyes - but I'm not even sure he won't end up being the guy who falls down the draft board.
  7. Yeah - surely no Dolph, who also plays well with American audiences with his accent. Gronk's unlikely to ever be able to play a non-idiot.
  8. Also a low bar. Nye is near the top of the BS league - a couple of notches past the original Mythbusters dimwits.
  9. C'mon man. You can't "dominate the draft" with one pick. The teams the article is highlighting, such as the Browns and Bills, are teams with lots of firepower in the draft that they need to not waste. High upside for them this year and lots of needs.
  10. Why do we think Darnold is good again? I am aware he was the top pick going in to the season but he did NOT have a 2017 to get excited about, and this only makes it look worse. Somebody please make me like him as a QB so I feel better about reports "the Bills really like him"!! I only watched one game of his - hosting Texas. He looked pretty rough in that one.
  11. If Frazier ends up in Indy that will shake things up. Other than that, yeah, we're a month away from anything much happening.
  12. I don't think you should underrate both of those facts. 1. If they get Cousins they don't have to use any of that capital on a QB (including possibly trading up). 2. The Bills WILL defer that cap number b/c Cousins will insist on a big bonus (aka guaranteed cash) up front, which WILL be spread out over the contract for cap purposes.
  13. I think of Manziel as liking the celebrity of being a QB a lot more than liking the working reality of what it takes to justify it.
  14. Agreed - it does tend to happen. You can't get yourself too twisted around that - Aaron Rodgers slid to #23. Turns out the big secret on the other teams was that they were idiots. Brees was "too short" so he slid to the top of the 2nd. Mayfield's behavior is zero worry for me - and I'm one who was certain Manziel would fail b/c of his antics - those two are apples and oranges. Mayfield is a competitor, he can tone down how he shows it the small amount needed to succeed.
  15. Because his play declined for a second year in a row?
  16. How is that Denver - they are picking 5th for a reason?
  17. Also known as Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees kind of pick. Not sure why a fifth round flier like Peterman even factors in to the discussion.
  18. I guess it's based on Smith to DC - which only means it's now certain Cousins is leaving DC - yeah the rest of it is strictly hypothetical on not getting Cousins I guess. Maybe the OP is one of the set of people (who I don't completely understand) who were hoping the Bills would get Smith b/c he is somehow good. I don't think like that, because I much prefer Cousins over Smith - and now we KNOW Cousins will be a FA.
  19. Bradford is an even bigger upgrade - and injury risk. Doesn't have to be much of a trade if any - they have 2 more QBs than they can afford to pay.
  20. OMG <face palm> EXACTLY I'm not sure a lot of people on this board are capable of thought, 8-8. What is it with some Bills fans? Snow getting them down? Ockham’s Razor depends on IN THE ABSENCE OF OTHER EVIDENCE. We may not have it, but you don't think McDermott and Frazier know what happens in practice beyond the results on Sunday?
  21. $30M would be worth it. I'd have the Bills do it in a heartbeat. Those prices you listed aren't going down in the future - bringing in a top 10-ish sort of guy for 5 years @$30M per would be a steal - and having ALL the draft picks available to build around him MUCH better than trading up for a rookie.
  22. They've already done it twice - they really can't afford to do it again (the price goes up every time you do it to the same playet), and are generally not expected to.
  23. No, but your choice to include Wood on YOUR list was for trying to pin some kind of blame on Beane for the move. Yes, yes you are confused.
  24. "Hurt all year"??? He was hurt a few times - OTOH he was tremendous when he played and a key part of the defense that won them enough games to make the playoffs.
  25. So apparently no one here can grasp the concept of a "company show" where you get some perspective from people aligned with OBD. This is right up there with the people who complain that Chris Brown's take is too pro-management - as if they are confused by who he works for. These guys are useful b/c while they have to keep things controlled and occasionally close-to-the-company-line, they are the easiest way for us to find out what the company line is!!
