  1. No, but we do have an early leader for dumbest thread of 2011. As many have already pointed out - it's totally standard for rookie RB's to struggle with blitz pickup. Worse for Spiller that he missed time in camp. He'll be fine next year.
  2. +1 As for replacing Edwards, though - I was wondering about that before I heard the Wanny rumor here based olnly on Chris Brown's story this morning, which seemed to imply a lot of the offense's problem was the defense's inability to get off the field. When Chris Brown is pointing fingers - you can assume he's releasing internal dirt under orders from the management.
  3. I cannot imagine "our run problems will be over" if we still have junk like Kelsay playing OLB and unable to comtain the edge. The Bills didn't give up 200 a game on the ground up the middle. An awful lot of that was RB's getting around the edge on us. And your scenario means you've declared both our second (Troupe) and third (Carrington) round draft picks last year to be busts - you realize that, right?
  4. That draft would be wonderful - I promote you to Buddy's boss!
  5. Describing Seattle and Hasselback as a "playoff team and QB" doesn't add to the argument. Seattle is the biggest joke in NFL playoff history qualifying by sucking less than the other 3 teams in what has to be the worst division-season in NFL history. Buffalo could have won that division.
  6. FAIL. This team defense gave up 30+ points in NINE of SIXTEEN games. Thanks to Fitz and the offense, we actually managed to win one of those, and went to OT in another. People who assign win % to the QB obviously have no business arguing what position to draft. For you QB == WINS and by that logic, obviously we should trade our entire roster and all future draft picks for Manning or Brady. Your faulty premise makes any logical argument invalid. The truth is, football is as great as it is because it's the ultimate team game, and you need players at all positions to succeed. Yes, QB is the single most important position, but that's relative to each other position, not all other positions in total. Also - why can't people on this board pay attention to what's happening to the roster over the season and see its impact on the result? The OL sucks? is that before or after we had two waiver guys manning the right side?? Does noone else see how losing multiple starters directly leads to less offense? We need a better starting ORT so that we can be using our starters as depth. We need a real TE so we can hurt teams up the middle when they blitz or drop into cover-2. The Patriots are so smart? Well, who did they draft last year? Oh look - 2 TE's in the first three rounds. When Brady went down they were still 11-5, led by a guy who was never a college starter - remember? We need a TE and at least 2 LB's and an ORT. Having said that - if Luck or another QB Nix believes in as elite is there at #3, you may have to go for it just because it's (thankfully) rare to be up there. But you don't take a QB just because.
  7. Please understand as we discuss the Seahawks and Rams contend for a "division title" that it is almost certainly the worst division in the history of the NFL. So, for example, I will say with great confidence that even our Bills, with all their warts, would have stood a good chance of winning this division. The winner of of last night's game (Seattle) has just set themselves back by nearly a dozen spots of the draft, and will fall to last place in the division and stay there within a couple years. The Rams and 49ers are both in better shape going forward. Seattle is happy today. In one week they will be recovering from a 30-point "playoff" loss to New Orleans in front of their home fans. Oh boy! I wouldn't trade places with a Seahawk fan.
  8. They suck out loud and will be annihilated by the Saints next week. Then they will fall behind the Rams next year by picking some dozen or so spots behind them every round. Yeah - the loser tonight came out ahead over the next 5 years.
  9. The Rams have already addressed their defensive front 7. You've heard of James Hall and Chris Long, right? How does Laurenitis look back there slamming people? The Bills cannot succeed without better LB's. Kelsay is a nightmare. Ayodele wasn't supposed to start. Oh - and as for Bradford - sure, but he didn't produce better numbers than Fitzpatrick this year - so while he clearly has more upside that Fitz, QB is NOT the reason the Rams improved as compared to the Bills. The Rams also play in possibly the weakest division in NFL history - and at that they are "contending for the playoffs" with a losing record.
  10. Funny - I wasn't a Fitz fan, but right now I don't see how Orton is any better. If they replace Fitz it should be with a top prospect - drafted in 2011 and starting no earlier than 2012.
  11. I'd put TE higher - right behind OLB and ILB. I don't get all these Bowers picks - how exactly does a 270 pound DE help us get better in our 3-4 run defense?? Does Bowers project as an (enormous) LB or something???
  12. Yeah - they've been bad, but picking 3rd or 4th still gives them better odds than 8th or 9th. If nothing else they can trade down for more picks and more chances to make their (seemingly random) selections and have one pay off. Momentum is nice - but where is the momentum from beating your opponent's backups? To me playing them with your starters is just humiliating win or lose - obviously worse if you lose. Remember the Bledsoe season Steelers game?? Could anything be worse for the morale of this club going forward than playing our starters against their backups and STILL LOSING?? Use the backups.
  13. Well - assuming Kyle Williams is your "ONE" - how would you explain the LB's inablility to contain an outside run when Dwan Edwards was in there at DE? The Ravens LB's seemed pretty OK against the run when he was starting for them last year. No - the problem is that Kelsay can't play the position, nor can Maybin (obviously) and since Andra Davis went down, we've been using other team's scraps - Ayodele, Torbor along with one over-hyped (hey - I bought his jersey too) PSU kid who as the D&C so aptly put it - "can't cover a saucepan". Moats was a (damned good) small-college DE - but he's shown the athleticism to clearly belong in a starting 4 LB corps. He's the only one.
  14. Tight End is my number 3 - right behind OLB and ILB. I really don't think I've ever seen linebacking this bad in the NFL. Anybody else remember some of the LB's commenting before the season about how they were telling the LB coach what was going on more than the coach coaching them??
  15. That makes no sense whatsoever. There are at least 10 teams I wouldn't trade them for. No they aren't great right now - but the team that just beat the 7-6 Fish in Miami in a game Miami needed is not anywhere close to the bottom of the league. Getting whipped by the league's top team after two players commit 7 turnovers does not take away beating the Fish, Lions, Browns, and Bengals - with only the Lions being in more promising condition. AND - If Steve Johnson catches that ONE pass against the Steelers? If Lindell hits that FG against the Chiefs? If the refs call a fair game against the Ravens on that ridiculous "fumble"? C'mon. No way would we want to trade places with the Browns, Bengals, Redskins, Seahawks, Cardinals, or Panthers (I assume your #1 choice). I'd add to my own (more debatable) list: Denver, San Francisco, Minnesota (yeah - they beat us up - and they are 100 years old on average - they have no future and only 5 wins), Miami, and maybe Dallas.
  16. Sorry - any other time I would agree, but in this one case - end of the season and the opponent having nothing to play for - I hope the Bills lose. Beting the Jets when they aren't playing their starters does nothing to advance the confidence of the young team - a worthy goal - it just robs them of some really valuable draft position in April. They already provfed they aren't the most dysfunctional team in the division last week against the Dolphins. That was a good win against a 7-6 team that actually had something to play for. The Bills at 4-12 or 5-11 are both teams that need a major infusion. Picking 3rd every round is a LOT better than picking 8th. SADLY - they will probably beat the Jets this week...
  17. That you are going with DE in the first and no LB's until the 3rd invalidates the whole list for me. Unless you are already declaring Carrington and Troupe busts (our #3 and #2 picks last year) I don't understand DL being the main priority. Our LB's - including Poz are a joke. We can go with Poz and Moats if we get them two studs to help. Most of the failings have been failure to contain the edge - especially wherever Kelsay is lined up. Pass rush in a 3-4 also comes from the OLB's, not the DE's. Moats shows promise, but we need a strong bookend.
  18. Sorry - I don't buy it. Yeah, Brady had too much time - but Gronkowski must have been gaining ground on Whitner every one of those few (not seven) seconds to be as open as Whitner was leaving him. And yeah, I admit it - I will never forgive him for not being Haloti (sp?) Ngata. Every time I watch Whitner come up small (while watching Ngata kick butt here in Maryland) I want to go back and time and stop Wilson from hiring Levy as GM. Seriously - did Levy make a single good move in his tenure?
  19. So you propose drafting a DE AND moving Williams to DE? And drafting NO LB's???? ARGGGGHHHHHH!!!!! WTF!! So Carrington - in your scenario is now already a bust 3rd round pick, and Stroud and Edwards are useless too. Awesome. THEY DO NOT NEED TO DRAFT A DL NEXT YEAR. They used their 2nd and 3rd picks last year on DL. If they have to do it again already, Nix sucks and we shouldn't care who they pick. If Troupe is ready to start at NT, then Williams can play 3-4 DE. Beyond that, Dwan Edwards is plenty good, and we have Carrington, and Stroud did fine. THE PROBLEM with the defense all year has been at LB - particularly at OLB. They've stunk all season at holding the edge - especially Kelsay, who just doesn't look like he can play LB. Moats is looking like he can be part of the answer, but they're still one OLB short. A better option at ILB would be good too.
  20. Thank you for spelling out the detail on why WE DO NOT NEED TO DRAFT MORE DL's!!!! We may be able to draft both LB's - I sure would like to see the Bills' grab the top TE - whoever that is. 1. LB 2. TE 3. LB Would make me very happy next April.
  21. Not bad but we need a TE almost as much as we need two LB's - who's out there?
  22. this video reminds me of Chris Kelsay. We need a guy who can cover and seal the edge - not just a pass rusher...
  23. 1. 3 O/T losses are essntially "ties" in terms of execution for 60 minutes of regulation. 2. Strength of schedule matters. 3. They are obviously a different team than they were at the beginning with Edwards and Lynch starting, and the new management trying to learn what they had.
  24. yes to most of the above... Bell is still young, raw, and recovering from injury. FAR TOO MANY PEOPLE are freaking out about him getting schooled by Jared Allen - please - it's Jared Freaking Allen at home on a reinvigorated Vikings team with a new coach. Of course our young learning OLT had trouble - you will note they didn't help Bell out with a RB or TE. He did fine for where he is. I also agree that moving him to ORT makes zero sense - his forte is his athleticism - not power. Draft some 360-pounder for ORT. We need a TE that's a real 2-way threat, and 2-3 more LB's - one of whom is a stud OLB pass-rusher - and this team will be fine.
