  1. He's not the worst. But he's completely mediocre.
  2. Pathetic play calling at the end. Just inexcusable.
  3. This is another idiot thread. The premise is that Jauron is terrible on challenges. Actually, despite some mistakes this season, he has a very good record on challenges. And the coach has to heavily depend on whoever is in the booth as to when to throw the flag.
  4. Another vote of thanks. After the game Sunday, one of my pals I watche dit with asked me, "Okay, who will the TBD board be screaming about this week." I said "Jauron." I could hardly stand to read here this week because of the unceasing drumbeat of "fire Jauron" fanatics. I'm not happy with the way the team has played in the last three games, but the hysteria we've been hearing here this week does not speak well of the average fan.
  5. This has been a paid public announcement from General Managers-R-Us, sponsored by the "let's blow up the team every three seasons and start over again because our pants are itchy" coalition, in collaboration with "fans who play too much fantasy football-dot-com."
  6. "Officially" sick? Does that mean, like, you have it notarized?
  7. McKelvin runs one back for a TD this week against the Jets...
  8. The turnovers by TE played a big part in the loss. That said, it's not all on him. I'd say the Bills win this game, in a close one, if they don't turn the ball over, and if they McGee is able to cover Ginn even a little better than he did. If the Bills get better pass protection or heat on Pennington, then they win it comfortably, The line between winning and losing in a game like this is pretty thin. A few less errors and penalties and it looks entirely different. So though I was downhearted at the end, I think that the Bills can come back from this and beat the Jets next week, and even the Pats on the road the week after.
  9. You may be right--I just don't remember it. I know he filled in well at tackle when Peters was out.
  10. Chambers is a tackle, not a guard. Has he even played at guard this season?
  11. It's not the drugs, it's the hypocrisy....
  12. Just a note--if you like Winwood, you might like this new Scottish singer--he's only twenty or so--who on some songs sounds remarkably like early Winwood. His name is Paolo Nutini. His "New Shoes" is an almost perfect pop song, IMHO. http://www.paolonutini.com/
  13. Just want to throw in my three cent as an old Traffic fan. Recently downloaded "John Barleycorn Must Die" to my iPod--it has two bonus tracks never released, one of them pretty good. I've indoctrinated my 14-year-old daughter, who knows the words to "Shanghai Noodle Factory"--we sing along.
  14. Tim Graham's blog has a note on speculation Rush Limbaugh may want to buy the fins. http://myespn.go.com/blogs/afceast Not that I ever needed a reason to dislike the fish any more than I do, but this would make seeing the Bills beat them even more of a pleasure.
  15. Which would probably be the way I'd feel about them if they lose.
  16. It's the O-line. This has been another edition of simple answers to simple questions.
  17. Watching the Broncos get beat by the Pats, I realized that though I'd be happy to see other teams beat them for us, I'd like it still better if the Bills took care of the Pats themselves, Brady or no Brady. I want to see Buffalo legitimately end the reign of the Pats in the AFC. Is that greedy?
  18. It's interesting to me that of the four first round QBs selected that year, Eli Manning, Rivers, Rothliesburger, and Losman (in that order, I think), three of them have proven to be first-class starters. This could be the strongest first-round QB class since the Marino, Kelly, Elway, Tony Eason year. I still think J.P. could make it, but he is looking more like Eason than Kelly right now. Eason also showed some promise, but never proved to be worth the pick.
  19. Just want to say it was good to see Rivers take apart the Pats last night. I've always been a Rivers fan (I teach at NC State, where he was the best quarterback in school history). I wanted the Bills to draft him in 2004; I knew he would make it in the pros despite questions some had about his arm strength and his somewhat sidearm throwing motion. He has brains and accuracy and a quick release. Too bad he rose up the draft charts so quickly after destroying J.P. Losman in the senior bowl (Rivers was MVP). I was annoyed when some on this board claimed Rivers was a "bust" when he didn't take over the job from Drew Brees his first season, and didn't set the league on fire in his second. This doesn't mean I don't want the Bills to beat the Chargers badly next week. But don't underestimate the Chargers' QB.
  20. The lower the Bills are ranked now, the better I like it. What matters is the winning. Let everyone talk about other teams.
  21. It's a pain in the butt, for us long time fans, to see the Bills go into the season with less than their best lineup. We've suffered with so many bad teams and mediocre players that it's galling to see a contract dispute put one of our best players on the sidelines. It's hard not to obsess about it. But at this point it's just a distraction from the main business, playing and winning games. I'm trying not to think about it. The team should pretend Peters is injured with no date certain for his recovery. Suck it up and play. And all of us fans with nothing better to invest our time in should have a beer or two and cheer the boys in blue on.
  22. You praised her "relevant experience." I'm telling you about that experience.
  23. You certainly have.
  24. Where did this "Royal has bad hands" meme get started? I watched every game last season, and I remember Gaines, not Royal, being the big butterfingers at TE. In particular, I remember Gaines dropping one in the Cleveland ice bowl that might have turned the game around. I'd like to see the hard evidence before I buy this particular bill of goods. The worst play I remember from Royal ever with the Bills was his failing to get his feet down in the Tennessee game the Bills lost by one point. But that's it.
  25. I had my doubts considering how he played at the end of last season. It's only pre-season, and one game but I sincerely hope what we saw from him and the rest of the team tonight is the shape of things to come this season. All I want is good play from the QB. I don't care what his name is.
