  1. I like Preston Brown, but his personal foul penalty when he put his helmet into Luck after Luck had already gone down was inexcusably stupid, the kind of play that can lose a tight game for you.
  2. I don't think Ryan and Roman have any expectation of playing Manuel this year, or intention to start him if Tyrod gets hurt. But I have a hunch that EJ will end up playing and starting before the year is out.
  3. I agree. These guys are just never going to give him a clear shot. He way outplayed Cassel in the pre-season, and now he's 3rd string? Just shows that Rex & Roman are not interested in an inherited QB. I think EJ will prove to be a good QB, but unless both TT and Cassel stink up the joint or get injured, he ain't going to get the chance in Buffalo.
  4. Worse than last year in terms of points per game and big plays given up.
  5. The first rounder in 2013 got traded down,, which led to EJ PLUS Kiko in the second round with the extra pick. Kiko got traded for McCoy. So out of the 2013, 2014, and 2015 first round picks the Bills got EJ, McCoy, and Watkins. In my opinion the jury is still out on EJ. I suppose you could say it's also out on how the other two will work out, but I don't think on the face of it this was a bad outcome.
  6. I have no clue. His body of work is too slender, and how much can you take from his performance in pre-season games? Is he really going to protect the ball as perfectly as he did in those games? I doubt it, but we'll see. Should be exciting.
  7. Very good point. Lots of "experts" were saying the Bills D would take a big hit if they let him go.
  8. Goodwin is injured. Nobody is going to trade for an injured player.
  9. If Rex replaces Carpenter at this point it would show very bad judgment.
  10. I love Fred Jackson and what he has meant to the Bills but this is a silly theory. It has nothing to do with Whaley's ego. You don't think Rex was on board, or even behind this?
  11. This is my take as well. If Tyrod plays well and is the choice, then so be it. But EJ is making a lot of good plays under trying circumstances and is not the failure he'd made out to be by so many commenters on the board. It's become a rote refrain in the face of evidence to the contrary.
  12. EJ's going to rip it up tonight. You heard it here first.
  13. I like this new name for him. I'm going to call him that from now on. so much depends upon a red football helmet glazed with rain water beside the white yard marker.
  14. Let's just change the name of the team to the Oakland Raiders.
  15. Stupid question.
  16. Disappointment with the Bills and their management, and expectation that he will end up starting and playing well for another team. Hope that Tyrod Taylor is not just a new shiny toy and that he can actually play for the long haul. I still think the Bills would be better to keep the two younger QBs and let Cassel go.
  17. I agree with you but apparently we are a small minority.
  18. Terrible, terrible decision. Stuff like this make me really dislike Ryan (who I didn't care for much in the first place), and sorely tests my love for the Bills, a Team I have followed since the mind-1960s. Plus, it seems plain stupid. What's the upside? It just brings bad attention to the team, and has zero chance of making the team better. It hurts much more than it potentially helps, and shows a lack of class and respect for civilized behavior.
  19. Stop it. Just stop.
  20. I have a feeling Spiller will outgain McCoy this season.
  21. Michael Jordan got huge numbers of calls or non-calls throughout his career. He won one playoff game against the Utah Jazz by pushing off his defender in order to get off his jump shot. It's not some conspiracy by the refs and the NFL. It's that Tom Brady, with his huge good-guy reputation, was the QB. "WAS." Now that his rep is tarnished, I do wonder if he will get those automatic calls and non-calls.
  22. Spiller will outgain McCoy this year.
  23. We got it. Thanks. No need to REPEAT IT UNTIL OUR EARS BLEED.
  24. To me the most interesting thing at this point is what must be going on in EJ's mind. I cannot imagine a player this early in his career having more reason to want to succeed, if only to stick it in the face of the press and fans who have been writing his obituary since they day he was drafted. It's only gotten worse this off-season. Granted, there are reasons so many people discount the bare possibility he could succeed, but an awful lot of these press reports are pure speculation and piling on based on slim or no evidence. If I were him I would delight in the prospect of coming out of the gate on fire and proving them wrong. He has to keep his mouth shut and show it with his play, of course, but his motivation must be sky high. I'll be very interested to see how he is in camp, and even more in the pre-season games. I do not think he is going to be anywhere near the hesitant player we saw last season. He's got no reason to play it close to the vest and every incentive to put it all out there.
