  1. McCoy is smarter than the president*.
  2. Thank god somebody can think logically about this and say the truth.
  3. The next time I hear somebody say about Watkins that, "He would have been gone next year" I am going to launch a nuclear missile at that person's IP address. Watkins could have been locked up for at least two more seasons and probably more. But he did not fit with the plans of Opie and the Beane and so he's gone in favor of a draft pick that may turn out to be nothing. Likewise Woods. And we've got a second rate receiving corps and an offense that can't score and no depth at running back and . . . never mind.
  4. This feels like the bitter truth to me. And I've been a fan of this team since 1964.
  5. Their hiring of Rex Ryan moves my rating of them from a B+ to a C. That one move set the team back at least three years.
  6. I was against him from the day he was announced. Just an exhibit of very bad judgment by the Pegulas.
  7. I liked it that they seemed organized and did not commit too many penalties. Ask me again at mid-season.
  8. Worried about them putting too much of the offense on McCoy's shoulders. He won't last. If they think Banyard is good, why won't they run him?
  9. I don't see this one-dimensional offense scoring much against a good team. Too much weight on McCoy's shoulders. Even if he stays healthy, a good team will blown them out. If he gets hurt, it's all over.
  10. Good game. Defense looked much improved--the point made above that they seemed to know what they were doing, not confused or late, is such a relief after Rex's terrible coaching. Taylor made some of the good plays that we saw last season. I am worried about putting the entire offense on Shady's shoulders. I hated seeing him sent into the middle of the line on virtually every play in the fourth quarter when they were trying to run out the clock. Tolbert looked okay in the first half, but when you need a breakout running play, McCoy is apparently all they have. Do they not trust Banyard to take any carries? I still wish they had Watkins, but life goes on. Carolina will be a major test.
  11. Good analysis. I think the "Reasons they will be worse" are more convincing, but I'm wrong a lot.
  12. Vague expectations: I think the defense may be better because idiot Rex Ryan is gone. I think the offense will be worse even if Shady stays healthy. Running game will not be as good. Granted, Watkins was hurt last season, but he would have been healthy going into this one, and that would have been an improvement that is now not going to happen. Can't see TT becoming a more effective passer--he is what he is. But how steep a fall off is a matter of speculation. Special teams seem to be good for at least three major penalties a game on returns. Field goals consistency should be better. Punting may be better if Schmidt is back to form. Bills KO and punt returners do not strike me as being improved at all. What this amounts to who knows. I disagreed strongly with a number of moves Opie and the Beane made, but it would be hard to imagine that they would coach the team as poorly as Rex did--except maybe in the offensive line. We'll see if that makes a difference; I doubt it will make enough of one to make up for the personnel losses. Please surprise me, Bills.
  13. How does this "up to the standard" BS apply to getting rid of Watkins? Or J Williams for that matter. IMHO the Sammy trade is going to make the Bills look stupid for the nest 5-10 years.
  14. McCoy doesn't finish the season, and the Bills' run game goes way south.
  15. All right, I'll say it calmly: They have put themselves in a hole that they are going to have to get out of by drafting with a degree of success that few if any teams have mustered consistently. They are going to have more holes to fill than they have draft choices to fill them. This season, if not a tank, is an extended tryout. If I were Kyle Williams, I would figure that my chances of ever seeing a playoff game in my career were materially reduced by the moves made by McDermott and Beane. Of course we will see how brilliant these guys are. I don't see any objective sign that their staff is "impressive."
  16. Because I am stupid and masochistic.
  17. Lorenzo is 34 Incognito is 34 Williams is 34 Wood is 31 Tolbert is 31 McCoy is 29 DiMarco is 28 How does keeping these guys help rebuild the team when you are going to replace all of them in the next couple of years? Opie and the Beane have devastated the young talent on this team. I don't care how many draft choices they have next season.
  18. I would rather have had Whaley and let him pick his own head coach.
  19. I've followed this team since 1964. I've seen a lot of good and bad decisions made, and against that background I say these guys are among the most arrogant I have ever seen, legends in their own mind. They remind me of Gregg Williams, whose idea to improve the defense was to get rid of Ted Washington. So we'll see how it works out, but I will bet it will not be pretty, just as I said when they hired Rex that it was the wrong move at the wrong time. I do not automatically disagree with coaching and managing decisions, as my history on this board would show. I am wiling to give the benefit of the doubt most of the time. I felt this way about these guys to start. But as the questionable decisions pile up, I see nothing to indicate that Opie and the Bean deserve confidence. So far it's all talk and throwing good players overboard. We'll see how it works out. I'm thinking five wins tops, three more likely. They don't have enough draft choices to fill all the holes they are blowing in this roster.
  20. I'm revising my estimate of games the Bills will win this season downward from five to three. Do they really expect Shady to be able to play the entire season? Do they really expect to get a passing game out of the wide receiver corps they have put together? Do they really think cutting or trading good young players for smurfs and lousy aging offensive linemen is planning for the future? Gregg Williams II.
  21. No way do I trust these guys at this point. I was willing to take a "let's see what happens" attitude at first, but the continual moves they have made to dismantle this team, throwing away young guys who could play for the sake of their own boys, is a sign of such arrogance that I am going to enjoy watching them go down in flames. It's just sad to see them take the team down with them. So far the Pegulas have shown they have zero ability to judge management ability. Where do you see "humble" in the moves they have made? We can argue about smart--I don't see it--but HUMBLE???? Exactly
  22. That's it. I'm done with this GM and coach. The arrogance level here makes Gregg Williams look like Gandhi. The number of good young players they have ditched, while keeping guys in the last stages of their careers, or bringing in their mediocre boys from Carolina and elsewhere, is appalling. I'm expecting three to five years in the wilderness now. Opie and the Bean are nothing if not supremely sure of themselves, and they are going to take the team down with them. Disgusted.
