  1. Exactly. Whaley did his best to give Rex and before him Marone the players they wanted. The same thing Beane is doing now for McDermott.
  2. Many of those Whaley guys who are not on the team are starting for other teams.
  3. Very interesting, and I think true. I agree the Bills don't have any stars right now except Shady. I wish they had not traded Watkins but there's no point in debating that now. Watching Taylor at QB is a roller coaster experience. He misses so many ordinary plays through inaccurate throws, holding the ball too long, not seeing the field. But then he makes plays that few if any QBs in the league can make. I can't say I feel confident that he will ever be a QB to regularly lead a team back from a deficit, but he's what we've got now and his talents are not inconsiderable. I was glad to see Dennison put in some of the sort of run plays that the Bills did so well the last few seasons. I hope he continues to be so flexible.
  4. I'm pretty tired of them right now, though I know I am not quit of them. They are wearing me out the way 45 is wearing me out (granted, over a much longer period of time, and for much less important reasons).
  5. No, they are not a playoff team. They cannot keep up the turnover differential they have enjoyed so far this season, and their offense is terrible. The defense will also not be giving up under 15 points per game. Seven wins tops, probably fewer.
  6. I just watched the game on delay, and I have to say that the whole thing was depressingly familiar. In this game, anyway, they looked exactly like the team we have been watching for seventeen years. I don't see a dime's worth of difference between this team and some of Jauron's teams, with different players, except for poor Kyle, who was playing back then, too. Maybe it was just one game. But I would warn you not to get your hopes up too much right now, at the very least.
  7. I agree completely.
  8. "professional" TT haters? You mean you can get paid for it? Do you have to declare the income?
  9. Seems to me there are a lot of them on this board (or maybe they are just more vocal than other people).
  10. He played pretty well when he came in for Carr the other day. In one series he had two passed dropped that should have been TDs. The first would have had to have been a fine catch, but the second was right in the receiver's hands.
  11. I agree with this. This game is a big test and the bills winning convincingly will tell me something.
  12. I hate all this BS mockery of EJ. It's not even accurate, and you should have half of his class.
  13. I'm pretty nervous about this Cincy game. By no means a gimmie. The Bills are depending an awful lot on turnovers to win these games. That 5-1 start in 2011 was powered by hordes of turnovers in those early season games. After that, complete collapse. This team looks to be better coached, but still--if Atlanta recovers that fumble by Tolbert, or if either Ryan's fumble or the second interception gets reversed--quite likely prospects--the Bills lose in Atlanta.
  14. That draw play on 2nd and 19 had me screaming at the TV.
  15. Don't get me wrong, I loved the Bills victory and I think this is the best coached the team has been in a very long time. I really like the way they are playing as a team. That said, I really cannot understand what they think they are doing running Tolbert. The guy is a fullback, not a halfback. His fumble in the second half was inexcusable, and the Bills were lucky they recovered it. If Shady goes down the running game, which is struggling at best right now, goes completely south. God, I wish they still had Jonathan Williams, or Gillislee.
  16. Mike Tolbert is becoming my least favorite Bill.
  17. I've been a fan of this team since the 1960s and I agree with Hughes.
  18. They've allowed 95 points in three games. I want to believe that they are bad but knowing the Pats and the way they have hornswoggled the league for fifteen years, I just can't trust them to be so awful. But it would be nice to think they could not hold anyone under 30 points per game, even on their home field.
  19. Even though I have my questions about McBeane, I'm very pleased to see them play this well. They definitely look like a much better coached team.
  20. This idea that people who live in urban areas aren't real people, or those who are liberal aren't real Americans, or that people on the left do not work hard, take care of their families, give back to the community, or that to be in the "real world" means you have to live in a small, mostly white, town is ignorant and insulting to millions who are just as loyal to the U.S. and who care about making the country better for all of us. And it's "toe the line," meathead.
