  1. I did not like the pick but i'm coming along to your point of view.
  2. Punctuation is a lost art. It makes me ill when I see so many people put an apostrophe in a simple plural noun. Instead of "dogs" it's "dog's"; instead of "Bills" it's "Bill's." "The Buffalo Bill's." Just shoot me now. ******* As far as the QB thing and Allen go, it's interesting to see the many vehemently held opinions. I was skeptical about Allen but he's shown some things that are remarkable. But I'm not ready to say he should be starting. As McDermott said, you want the rest of the team believing that the man playing QB is their best chance to win. When the team believes that—not you or me—then the change will be inevitable.
  3. Let them laugh. It's so patently wrong that they aren't worth listening to.
  4. Based only on this game, I agree with you--and I am someone who has been skeptical about this team's chances this season. They looked well coached and both Peterman and AJ looked like NFL QBs. Allen looked better than his stat line would indicate. If the team can continue to grow they will do better than expected. I was overall impressed with the offense, and troubled about the defense. But it's early yet.
  5. I expect them to throw for more yards per game but to turn the ball over much more than Tyrod did. I couldn't tell you whether the point differential between the Bills and their opponents will be worse or better.
  6. I appreciated what McD had to say about Benjamin and his comments on Cam Newton. The right attitude.
  7. I think about this sometimes. I think this is something that occurs to you when you get older. Sometimes when I'm seeing yet another post excoriating Doug Whaley as if he burned down the fan's house or stole his wife, I think about what is so frustrating in people's lives to make them invest so much in, as Jerry Seinfeld famously said, "laundry."
  8. These fans that are all "Don't say nothin' bad about my boy Josh!" are tiresome.
  9. This is not true. Norwood missed a LOT of kicks, crucial ones, during the season, but the team covered for him. Look at that Denver game the Bills came back to win in the fourth quarter. Norwood missed TWO extra points in situations that theoretically could have cost them the game except the defense bailed them out with turnovers and touchdowns.
  10. Norwood missed a lot of kicks that season even before he missed in the Super Bowl. I remember being furious that he missed those extra points.
  11. Unless McCarron of Peterman plays lights out, the Bills need to know by the end of this season whether Allen is able to play. But I suppose, having invested so much in drafting him, they are committed to him whether he plays this season or not. They are not likely to draft another QB high next spring regardless.
  12. If he's so prejudiced toward the Jags, why did he pick them to have a losing season last year? There's a lot of illogical BS posted on this board.
  13. Agree. I have been worried about running back even before McCoy's recent public problem with his ex-girlfriend. It seems to me Beane & McDermott have taken a lot for granted in assembling this list of runners. One thing Whaley always did was bring in YOUNG undrafted or low-drafted free agent runners who were talented and could surprise. I think if for whatever reason Shady can't play, this running game could fall off a cliff.
  14. Not in Prisco's predictions. He picks the Jets to win only two games, finishing behind the Bills with the worst record in the league.
  15. It's not a ridiculous prediction. Of course a lot of things are going to happen before then.
  16. Some day it has to happen.
  17. You said it. I have been living in NC since 1982 and I can count the times I have been to Charlotte on the fingers of one hand. There's much more to see and do in the Triangle, or in Wilmington, or the Outer Banks, or the Blue Ridge and Asheville. They should move Charlotte to South Carolina.
  18. I lived in KC for five years and it has it all over Buffalo, I am afraid.
  19. You opinion is not crazy, though I just don't see this as a good passing team, and I expect a decline in the running game too. I'm not much of a betting man so I'll pass on your suggested bet--take yourself out for dinner if you win, and I will do the same. I would love to see Daboll get some production out of these players, and I am glad that Taylor's deficiencies as a passer are no longer our problem.
  20. I have a friend who is a huge Bengals fan and he says Bodine, for the number of starts he has had, is the worst center he has ever seen.
  21. I said I did not care for Taylor, for exactly the reasons you say. I never saw the Bills look worse as a team than they did at home against New Orleans in the blowout (they lost by 37 points!) that made McDermott bench him and start Peterman against SD. I was 100% behind that move even though it blew up in their faces. So yes, let's hope that whoever plays QB will move the ball better. But they are going to turn it over a LOT more than Taylor did; that's a foregone conclusion, and to assume that they are going to make up for that by scoring more, given the huge deficits in offensive talent, is foolish, in my opinion. The predictions that they will go 9-7 or 10-6 are fantasy. I hope I'm wrong and they somehow play lights out but there's no way, at this point, seeing who they will likely be putting on the field, that anybody ought to reasonably expect that. This is going to be a learning season. If they make it to 8-8 it will be a huge achievement. I'm thinking 6 wins max.
  22. It's easy to imagine them being worse than that even if Shady plays the whole season. He's over thirty and his backup is over thirty and the o-line is full of question marks. They have one credible wide receiver. Yes, they passed for less than 200 yards per game but Taylor (who I did not care for) still only threw only 4 interceptions for the season. Peterman threw more than that in one half. Whoever plays QB for the Bills is going to turn the ball over a lot more than Taylor for sure. They may pass for more than 200 yards per game but that doesn't mean they are going to score points. Plus the defense got 25 turnovers. They are going to have to do better than that to come out even. Maybe Allen of somebody will play lights out at QB and Zay Jones will suddenly look great at receiver and the journeymen at center will play way above their heads and the defense will get even more turnovers, but on paper this looks like a worse offense than last year's, with the possibility of a defense equal or maybe slightly better if all the new parts work right.
