  1. A nice fit?? How so? You'll have to lay out your case in detail for us on that statement.
  2. Marv knows him from his time living in Chicago DJ likes him He'll definitely be back next year Role in backfield TBD
  3. Sullivan failed to recognize the Ravens' motivation (desperation?) for McGahee after Lewis had signed with the Browns. Isn't the WWW great? 10+ years ago, before blogging, these journalists couldn't be held to account. Now their BS is subject to scrutiny by countless blogs, message boards, sports chatrooms, etc. Sullivan can't get away with BS.
  4. Marv's also made Chicago look really stupid with the Thomas Jones deal with the Jets. Part of it may be leverage that Marv had with the Ravens .... they were desperate for McGahee once Jamal Lewis signed with Cleveland. McGahee was their presumed #2 choice after Lewis.
  5. And Casserly was also the one that said J.P. was not even in the same "league" as Rex Grossman. Casserly is as useless as Mort. Passing on Vince Young or Reggie Bush as the Texans GM will forever tar Casserly's credibility.
  6. With Lewis signed with the Browns, McGahee jumps to the top of the Ravens desired list.
  7. Won't happen. Would only happen if Las Vegas shut down its sports betting industry on pro football. And that definitely won't happen. The NBA all-star game only went to Vegas with the Vegas mayor and the industry's commitment that there would be no betting on the NBA all-star game emanating from Vegas. And that's just the all-star game. Vegas would never shut down its multi-million (billion?) dollar sports betting industry in order to snatch an NFL team. Won't happen.
  8. Where was this initially posted?
  9. That increases the Ravens desire in McGahee for certain. And in so doing, increases the Bills leverage in negotiations. The Ravens could part with a 2nd round draft pick, but based on their record, that would sort of be like a high 3rd round draft choice. The key here is increased leverage for the Bills.
  10. At 34 years old, how many good years does he have left in him. He did average almost 20 yards per catch last year over 10 games.
  11. Thanks for that. Listening to it now live thru the web: http://www.wham1180.com/main.html
  12. Your continually harping that Anthony Thomas should be Buffalo's feature back was soundly refuted in your earlier post. Why continue to sell a dead horse idea?
  13. Shoring up our porous run defence in '06 has to be a priority. Yeah, Indianapolis showed you can make the playoffs with a poor run defence, but the only way they won the Superbowl was to fix it during the playoffs.
  14. Some of the points cited in this article reminded me again of why we can't allow this guy to play on the 2007 Bills: http://www.niagarafallsreporter.com/billstuff3.6.07.html McGahee didn't do anything to endear himself to fans or the organization with his comments about Western New York and suggestion that the Bills move to Toronto during an interview with "Penthouse" magazine other than to remind everyone that the cheesy publication is still in business. Somehow, it was a fitting forum -- pardon the pun -- for McGahee to empty out whatever thoughts were rattling around his brain. His entire professional career has been rather gauche. During the draft, he and agent Drew Rosenhaus chatted intently on their cell phones any time ESPN's cameras were on, supposedly indicating that they were talking to various NFL front offices. This was apparently meant to put additional pressure on any team willing to use a first-round draft pick on a running back who would miss an entire season rehabbing the gruesome knee injury he suffered in his last college game. In reality, they were talking to each other. After the Bills bit, McGahee continued acting like a superstar, even as he limped around during his rehabilitation. Once he got on the field, McGahee's first season was easily his best, as he ran for 1,128 yards and 13 touchdowns, most of it as the Bills ran off a six-game late-season winning streak to the brink of, but not into, the playoffs. That 2004 season was the only one in which he managed to reach an average of 4 yards per carry, hitting that number on the nose. He's had his moments since, usually against the New York Jets, but has never been able to overcome shortcomings on the line and at quarterback to carry the offense. That's the least you would expect of a first-round back, particularly one making noise about renegotiating his contract. McGahee has chosen not to take part in the team's offseason workout program, instead staying in Florida, presumably so that he can hang out and play video games with the ever more creepy Rosenhaus. But forget for a moment where he chooses to work out, the "Penthouse" comments and the blase attitude he demonstrates in just about every interview. Forget the serial paternity suits. McGahee has offered plenty of on-field evidence that he's not worth the trouble, or money, required to keep him around. At best, he's a solid running back. While it's tough to guess, in retrospect, what Tom Donahoe was thinking at times during his tenure as Buffalo's football czar, it's safe to say he didn't spend a first-round pick and then wait a year for solid. You can get more for less cash and with fewer hassles in the draft, well after the first round, as well as in free agency or trades. Assuming a stronger offensive line and continued improvement by J.P. Losman, the ground game should improve, whoever does the carrying. http://www.niagarafallsreporter.com/billstuff3.6.07.html
  15. Excellent job of pulling those past statements together. Mort just spouts and spouts and spouts and no one ever holds him accountable for what he says. Maybe he'll fill in for fired retread michael irvin. Would be a perfect fit for ESPN.
  16. If a McGahee trade is truly in the cards, it will be a matter of days, not weeks. The Bills want to get on with their life and the Ravens want clarity on their RB situation. And then the Ravens can email Willis their desired off-season workout plan while he hangs out in his beloved Miami for the spring/summer.
  17. It's definitely a class-less act on the Ravens part. And now they have the gall to ask him to negotiate with him and convey that he is their presumed first choice.
  18. Mort is about as useless as CBS's NFL Today "General Manager" Charlie Casserly. Rocket Scientist Casserly gets credit for picking Mario Williams over Vince Young / or Reggie Bush. Armchair analysts like Mort and Casserly are useless windbags
  19. A 2nd round draft pick for Willis is unlikely but Marv should hold out for it.
  20. If being a "great" back means having two legs, then I'd agree with Shefter and call Willis a great back.
  21. Nicely stated. Project 1 is under-way: rebuilding of the O-line. Project 2 has got to be next: developing a strategy to end our porous run defence. Attacking linebackers would help with this.
  22. I'm amazed how much Okoye's stock has risen in the last 2-3 weeks. He's now top 10 on many draft predictions. The talk on SW in early February about him coming to the Bills was premature. No way we get him. And I'm not sure that Marv would want to use his 1st round pick on the DL.
  23. That's great info. Thanks for the inside scoop!
  24. Another Patriot has-been?
  25. Dillon = Proven, aging, veteran starting back in Dillon Rhodes = Younger, was rarely a starter, was key for Indy in the playoffs (especially the Baltimore game) What to do, What to do
