  1. Yes, but teams take large cap hits if they cut a player. If you void a players deal, then I don't think that counts against the cap. It's probably Donte's decision to void the contract (because its a rookie deal), but team do put options for them to void years in player contracts.

  3. Yes, I'm sure Seattle and NE would love to trade for a player that would only retire once they got him.
  4. Not to mention that Schobel plans on skipping training camp for whatever team he goes to.
  5. What trade value is that? Schobel hasn't even made up his mind as to whether or not he's even playing this year, and he will only play for certain teams. Who is going to trade for a player that 1) might retire and 2) might retire because he doesn't want to play for you? Other teams know that we won't just sit on his $8 million salary. Every team in the NFL knew we were going to have to cut him.
  6. Accuracy and the ability to read defenses are the two most important things for a QB to have.
  7. I'm glad we didn't draft a QB until the 7th. Outside of Bradford, there was no one worth taking.
  8. Whitner doesn't have to beat out anyone. He has been taking all the 1st team reps the entire camp.
  9. It looks like our defense might be pretty good this year. We have the best secondary in the NFL. We signed two veteran 3-4 players, taking one of Baltimore's starting DEs. The secondary will give our pass rushers longer to get to the QB and collapse the pocket. Not to mention that if Kyle Williams and Troup keep playing up to their training camp levels, combined with Stroud and Edwards being stout against the run (Carrington also performing well in practice), our rush defense looks to be much better. The quality and depth of the players in our secondary will also give George Edwards the ability to blitz more often, and that should help with pressuring the QB. Maybin seems like he can be at least be an effective 3rd down rusher. Also, teams historically do better against the run in their first year of the transition to the 3-4 defense. It doesn't seem, barring injury, that our run defense won't be much better against the run. This does translate into a nasty defense. If our run defense was top 10 we would be elite.
  10. I think it's worth noting that Maybin had another sack.

  12. I'll checkout whatever is high on the tomato meter.
  13. A lot of rookies sign deals that have the last year voidable. Many times they are only there because they allow teams to keep players if they have been injured for a good portion of their time with the team. A good portion of these voidable years only become that when a player has met playing time requirements.
  14. Edwards is a known commodity. He is essentially stepping into a very similar role to the one he played in Baltimore. Here is his scouting report: We have at least one proven starter on our defensive line.
  15. None, I wish we could have 80 players on our roster.
  16. A lot of people have been saying Whitner has had one of the best camps out of anyone. I think he is going to have a big year.
  17. If we are going off history, there is a good chance our defense will be much better. Here is a good read on it: http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/index.php?...=115847&hl=
  18. With reports saying that he looks like a beast in training camp, I must say... I think we have a very good player on our hands. http://www.mpnnow.com/sports/x1869744754/Tough-on-the-run
  19. Troup and Williams are impressing everyone, so... yes
  20. If Troup is as good as we've been hearing, our defense could be very good this year.

  22. Our defense looks like it could be nasty this year, our offense... not so much.
  23. That doesn't change the fact that he has something to gain by ruling it unconstitutional. Frankly, I'm pro gay marriage, but lets not act like this judge was an impartial arbiter. It's not impartial to have a judge who owns BP stock deciding the inevitable lawsuits against them, and its not impartial to have a gay judge decide this case.
  24. The fact that he is gay. He has a vested interest in this law being declared unconstitutional.
  25. I haven't looked at the case, but the judge sounds extremely biased to me.
