  1. Uh, actually the majority of WRs have a decrease in production from their rookie year to sophomore year. In fact, they don't return to their rookie year production until year 3.
  2. Trading Stevie would trigger an extra $3.5 million in dead money since they paid him a $2 million bonus two months ago. They aren't getting rid of him until next year when we can actually save cap money by getting rid of him. Not losing cap and then losing even more on his replacement's salary. Not to mention the mid-round pick we would get is very, very unlikely to match SJ's production.
  3. The Bills are going all-in with EJ Manuel and getting him one of the best WR corps in the NFL. Watkins and Williams on the outside with Stevie in the slot and Robert Woods coming in for 4 WR looks. If the Bills believe Watkins is a true elite number one wide receiver then the trade makes a ton of sense. I haven't read Sully's column, but I can't criticize a trade that fills one of the only glaring needs on this team. Right tackle is really the only position on offense that we don't at least have an adequate starter for now. Keeping our 2nd round pick and giving up next year's 1st allows us to fill the right tackle spot with a day one starter.
  4. Hah so lets move him because he has a high cap hit so he can have an even higher one? Makes perfect sense, especially since we are all so sure about Mike Williams.
  5. AND they lose $3.5 million in cap room if they trade him.
  6. Perhaps you should think your answers through. Are you aware that Marrone brought Stevie and Andre Reed with him to pick up Mike Williams at the airport? Are you aware Marrone called Stevie personally to tell him any rumors about Stevie's future on the team were false? Are you aware that they paid Stevie Johnson a $2 million dollar bonus? If it was about cash they never would have given him that money. Yeah those sound like things you do for players that you want off your team.
  7. We'll see, but nothing the Bills have done or said indicates that they don't want Stevie anymore. In fact, everything they've done suggests the opposite. Just so you know, we would lose $3.5 million in cap money if we trade Stevie this year. We paid him a $1.7 million bonus in March. He won't be traded.
  8. No the compensation was wrong. Stevie was not traded
  9. As of right now Stevie is our best WR simply because Watkins has never stepped on an NFL field before. Also, trading Stevie this year doesn't really save much money.
  10. Yes, let's trade away our best WR and the best route runner in the NFL. A 5th or 6th round pick is totally worth it. The Bills will run with Mike Williams and Watkins on the outside and Stevie in the slot.
  11. The general rule is that a 1st next year is worth a 2nd this year, so no I don't think they gave up too much. I would rather have my 2nd round pick this year.
  12. So the net compensation is a single first round pick and a 4th round pick given up. Also, the chart value for the trade is just about dead on.
  13. You mean one 1st and a 4th? Unless you would consider the Bills getting the fourth overall pick straight up for the ninth overall pick as giving up a 1st round pick.
  14. Would you guys have rather given our 2nd round pick this year, or our 1st round pick next year? Those two picks are roughly equivalent in value.
  15. Guess what? A 2014 2nd is equivalent in points to a 2015 1st. You shouldn't use the chart if you don't know what you are doing.
  16. Why do you keep posting this? That's not how the trade chart works nor is that the correct point values for the picks. A 2015 first is NOT equivalent in point value to a 2014 one. A 2015 1st is roughly equivalent to a 2014 2nd round pick. Go post your misinformation elsewhere.
  17. A 2nd this year and a 1st next year have the same trade value.
  18. CJ Spiller is 3rd ALL TIME in yards per carry among running backs. If Sammy Watkins can produce at that level we will be fine.
  19. I love it. Let's revisit this thread in a few months when we all can see Sammy Watkins is a beast.
  20. That and he doesn't realize that picks a year later are devalued by a round. The Bills are giving up the 2014 equivalent of a 2nd and 5th round pick.
  21. Why? a 2015 1st is equivalent to a 2014 2nd round pick and a 2nd round pick is just about right for this move.
  22. Chances are we will pick up our starting RT with our 2nd or 3rd round pick.
  23. The trade is equivalent to a 2nd and 5th this year. We can still get a tackle in the 2nd round with this trade.
  24. Because synthetic is not banned by the NFL. You can smoke it all you want and can't be suspended for it. Players get tested once for weed around training camp (unless they are in the substance abuse program) and then not again all year. The only random tests they do are for performance enhancing drugs. Dareus can simply switch after he is tested.
  25. So why would the Bills trade Stevie Johnson? Everything they've done so far says otherwise. Marrone called Stevie personally and told him any rumors about being traded or cut were false. Then Marrone brings Stevie and Andre Reed with him to pick up Mike Williams after they trade for him. Those don't sound like things you do if you are trying to get rid of a guy.
