Wow...I must be such a homer...USA Projections
Fingon replied to Kipers Hair's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Newsflash: You won't find a single team in the NFL without weak-links or holes. Only Bills fans would expect a team to need 0 holes to make the playoffs. Robert Woods should have the worst year of any of our receivers. The majority of receivers have a sophomore slump and don't get back to their rookie production until year 3. -
You don't understand business. The vast majority of NFL revenue is guaranteed regardless of location. I could move a team to Albuquerque and I would still 90% of the revenue all the other owners get. So why would I spend tons of money to move the team from Albuquerque, when I could make a far higher rate of return by staying put? Only in TaskersGhost's world does it make sense to spend 3-4x as much for maybe 20% more revenue.
-
Actually, it seems that you are the one that doesn't get it. Have you ever worked for a business before? Spending $1 billion to keep the team in Buffalo is much more profitable than $4 billion to move to LA. Especially since the vast majority of NFL revenue is the same regardless of franchise location. Do you think you get more TV money because you are in a larger market?
-
I'm pretty sure the Chargers claim LA as part of their market. That's one of the reasons that the NFL will impose a very large relocation fee on an LA franchise. There isn't as huge of a difference in value between the LA market and Buffalo market because the TV money is locked in regardless of location. Luxury boxes can only do so much, as all non-box ticket money is pooled and split between the 32 teams.
-
Can NFL teams sell local TV packages now? No, so stop worrying about the team going for $2 billion + and moving to LA. The new owner can't just start an "LA Bills Network" to recover the cost of buying the franchise. Luxury boxes won't be enough to cover $2 billion for the team, $1 billion for a stadium, probably another $1 billion in relocation fees. Not to mention playing in an empty stadium for 6 more years.

Holy Chites...I should be in jail for my parenting skills
Fingon replied to plenzmd1's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Man, the "times are different" rabble are so out of touch with reality. The fact is that almost all violent crime rates are at lower levels than they were during the "glorious" 1950's. It's really sad that a person in a position of authority would use that excuse when issuing a verdict. Letting an 8 year old walk around in 2014 is no less safe than in 1950. -
Police toss flash-bang into 2 year old's crib
Fingon replied to Fingon's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
The 2nd article says they had reason to believe that he was armed and dangerous. The intel that he was there couldn't have been very good, since he wasn't there. -
http://www.wsbtv.com...d/nf9SJ/?GxbuEu Terrible situation all around. I really, really hope that child can make a full recovery. The kid's parents weren't even the ones that were being looked for, and were staying at the house because their's recently burned down. edit: I guess the guy they arrested wasn't even at the house during the raid. They got a him a few hours later at another house. http://www.ajc.com/news/news/breaking-news/toddler-critically-injured-by-flash-bang-during-po/nf9XM/

What Are They Doing with Nickell Robey?!!
Fingon replied to Last Guy on the Bench's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Who was the slot receiver? If it was Mike Williams or another big WR I can see why Robey wasn't on the field. It's probably just the Bills giving Brooks some looks since he is on the bubble (like the article said.) -
The Clippers didn't go for $2 billion because it's a sound investment. They went for $2 billion because Steve Ballmer doesn't care about losing money. Let me put it this way, if someone wanted to make money owning the Clippers they would have paid far closer to the Forbes value. If someone were to pay $2 billion for the Bills it wouldn't be because they are looking to make a dime on the team. It's impossible to make money at that price, even in LA.
-
Yep more people play basketball in China than there are people in the US.
-
If you're paying $2 billion for a sports franchise it's absolutely NOT about the money. If the Bills were sold for $2 Billion that would virtually guarantee the team stays in Buffalo simply because the owner will have to be so rich that he doesn't care about losing money.

This is why Byrd's deal is heavily front-loaded. The Saints can cut him after 2 years without owing him anything. It's probably also the reason the Bills only leaked like the first 2-3 years of their offer.

WVAU TV Marcel Dareus arrested-edit-again
Fingon replied to Punch's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Everyone would get that charge reduced, as the only reason it's a felony is to get people to snitch or plead guilty. The standard practice is to overcharge every crime so that the defendant will plead guilty to a lower charge, and the prosecutor gets a notch on his belt he can use for re-election. -

Fingon replied to Punch's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Dareus needs to show up to meetings on time and not get arrested. After that, all that matters is production on the field. -

Fingon replied to Punch's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Oh, it will be reduced. Dareus was a superstar for Saban and he was arrested in Bama. The cop that arrested him will be the one suspended. -

Fingon replied to Punch's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Synthetic is not banned by the NFL and is not tested for. Dareus can smoke it all he wants and won't piss hot. Not to mention there is no precedent for suspending players for synthetic marijuana (despite several arrests) and the NFLPA says you can't even suspend for it. -
Joe B.: 5 Bills that could be in danger of being cut
Fingon replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's a pretty safe list, and I think most of them will indeed be gone by the end of TC. I could also see Corbin Bryant being beaten out by Stefan Charles. -
What are you looking for in OTAs?
Fingon replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You can say that for any player, as there isn't even contact yet. -
What are you looking for in OTAs?
Fingon replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I want to see if EJ Manuel's footwork and accuracy have improved. That's really the only thing that would hold this team back from a playoff berth. -
Anyone want to host the 2022 Winter Olympics?
Fingon replied to Just Jack's topic in Off the Wall Archives
They should just have 3-4 cities hosting the winter games on rotation. That way these facilities would actually be used in between Winter Olympics. -
Spotrac Contract Forecast: CJ Spiller
Fingon replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If he has a 2012 type season again, he'll be one of the highest paid backs in the NFL. If he has a year like last year I can see a deal in the $4 million a year range. Actually, if he puts up 1200+ yards on 6.0 YPC again the Bills might have to franchise him to keep him. -
Did Led Zeppelin Steal ‘Stairway to Heaven’?
Fingon replied to truth on hold's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Led Zeppelin not only has a huge history of being accused of plagiarism, but they also have a long history of settling or losing those cases. Many Zeppelin songs now have credits for the original writers. Example: Willie Dixon is credited as a writer on "Whole 'Lotta love" because the song is pretty much directly ripped from "You Need Love". I really, really don't doubt that Led Zeppelin stole at least part of "Stairway to Heaven" that's kind of what they do. That doesn't mean they're not a great band however.
