Bills at Chiefs 2nd half thread

Remember the first half when Taylor would actually throw the ball to Watkins? Remember how good an idea was that? Could we please consider doing that again? -

Yeah, that was pretty quick on the score, and probably fair to give up down 8. -

Only if you are a Norwood PTSD loser. If you root for this team into November you sure as hell root for them down 5 with a half to go. But they better start playing better football pretty soon. -

Now would be a good time to start playing better football, because the last 20 game minutes of football hasn't been very fun and we need to win this game and still can. -

Rex 0-for-2 in what to challenge. Although that advice has to come from upstairs and somebody not giving him the info he needs quickly enough. -

We have known for a while Alex Smith excels at throwing deep balls. Wait...no he doesn't. WTF is going on? It doesn't help that my must win fantasy matchup is going against Maclin and Kelce. Need a scoring drive here to take control again. -

Dodged a bullet. 30 minutes from a win, hoping their LT doesn't come back and we can pressure Smith in the second half. -

Concussion protocol for the #1 pick LT would be nice, but I hope he is fine and able to return to practice later this week... -

There better not be 3 KC points off of that series....that was not a good sequence. -

32 minutes left. I don't think anything looms. We are winning and about to get the ball. Just keep playing football. -
However the blame falls, there was some pretty poor play calling and execution among the HC/OC/QB. Watkins is an awesome decoy and definitely created openings for others, but he has to get the ball. I love the deep balls, and I love the short possession passes, but intermediate routes especially over the middle are being underused. And I love letting Shady work and leaving most read options in his hands, and I know NE was working hard to keep TT contained with their pass rush, but I think there were some windows for TT keeping the ball on options or having a couple designed runs which would have opened up space more. But the biggest thing is to get the ball to Sammy more on intermediate routes and let him be a little more Andre Reed. There were plays where he was open and whether it is on the QB Execution or the Read Progression of the play the OC calls, TT never looked at him. #TenTargetsForWatkins

Lots went right, lots went wrong. No fun to have Dareus and Mario not be able to play 60 with Kyle already out. Need to get Watkins the ball. Bad officiating today, but the net wasn't a difference maker. Clock management was off and so was Tyrod. Zero runs by him before the injury seems to be something the Pats worked to make happen, but I would have liked some keep me honest plays. Unreal to shut down Gronk. I won't bore anybody by telling you I needed him in single digits to keep my fantasy season alive, but scheme and execution really worked there. This was probably a game we drop in a 15-1 fairy tale, so I was excited to be in it down to the last second. We need to hope that Tyrod has a strain and not a break, because this team is better than people think and ready for a good finish.

Horrible clock and play calling there. Huddle, 45 seconds for a pass nowhere near the sticks? -
Bills can give Brady his suspension
Koufax replied to bisonbrigade's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Playing dirty cheap football is as bad as cheating other ways. I think they should play football and try to win at football. Going after him hard should be a strategic priority, but Greg Williams hasn't been in Buffalo for quite a few years, and I would just as soon not see our QB injured, our stars and coaches suspended, and our reputation ruined. Making pain and injury your priority is neither nice nor wise, and with both the league and the refs clearly interested in protecting QBs, would probably not increase our chances of winning this game by much, and very likely reduce our chances of winning some of our upcoming ones amid suspensions and more. -
We don't get 4 or 5 more wins. We get our 6th win as soon as we can, and then worry about our 7th. We can start by trying to pull of the biggest upset in the toughest game of the season in New England. But after that I think we should be favored in all the games except Dallas, and have a good chance to win any of them we play well in and lose any we play poorly in.

Rex is 0-0 against the New York Jets in his career. So 60 football minutes away from a new narrative in one direction or another. -

No Mangold and a lot of Dareus? Am I the only one who thinks Fitz will throw the ball to some players wearing Red? Their punter was 4 for 4 on extra points but didn't attempt a field goal. Not sure if they sign someone or roll with that, but either way it gives us an advantage in the kicking game. -
I'm still really confused that anybody things tanking is a good strategy for improving your football team. I think they have bought in to the NFL hype that they use to market in the offseason. Maybe, just maybe, there is a situation every decade or so where losing a week 17 game improves your team, but year after year after year the draft has way too much uncertainty, and the top 10 is filled with QB busts and there are plenty of good QBs taken outside the top 10. Trying to win every football game you play, and trying to draft intelligently just seems to make so much more sense at every level. The reality is that it is much more important to get luck in the draft than to get Luck in the draft.

It has always been dry here, and our local rainfall is relatively unimportant. The core of the drought is the northern and mountain parts of the state where rainfall and snowpack accumulate and drive the agriculture in the middle of the state. In terms of building a new stadium with tax dollars and corporate suites, LA is a much better place to do that than San Diego, and Spanos has known this for a while. There are options here that would be worked out if LA wasn't so tempting, but I don't think San Diego is any more prepared to compete with LA right now than it was when the Clippers moved North years ago.

It is reasonable for him to be bothered, it is reasonable for him to respond, but the specifics here were a failure on his part and a bad idea. First, the big one, when responding publicly as an athlete, make sure you do some combination of taking the high road, or of narrowing your target to garner the support of the masses. Mention something about getting back up from an ankle injury to catch a crucial touchdown, playing through injuries, etc., but don't call out how pathetic the 9-5 job crowd is and how great you are. Second, I am not going to take a cheap shot at Clemson University, especially considering they have not given Sammy a diploma, but to make fun of how pathetic others are with such a poor command of the English language is pretty sad. And lastly, given the overall circumstances here (disappointing 3-4 team, playoff drought, lack of personal production, having called out his team to the press, his injury, and still having the best fans in the NFL), he probably should have deleted that post BEFORE hitting send, and said something cliche like "Thanks for the support from all the real Bills Mafia fans. They make it easy to laugh off those few idiots who don't know what it is like to play through pain. I can't wait to get back on the field and help the Bills get on a roll".

EJ refusing to look at Watkins. Double move had his double team crushed. On the plus side we are clearly winning the field position batt...never mind. -

I'm with Brooks on this one. Clearly letting PacMan know that he was stopped and tackled is more important than the Bills field position. I'm only sad he didn't taunt him more. He should be an honorary "knights who say ni"
