Certainly could have used that 6mil somewhere else, like on a linebacker or a tackle. Fact is, this guy did nothing to distinguish himself. He will either be out of the league or working for a lot less next year.

Brian Brohm for JP Losman

Hardly the same skill set. Vick certainly has a superior winning record. -
The Bills won because nobody from KC (including Mike Vrabel) can catch a well thrown ball. They also won because KC's rookie coach decided to pull a Mike Mularkey and suprise us by not trying to run against the worst run defense of the last decade. The Bills didn't win because Fitz is an NFL quality quarterback. He seems like a very nice guy, but he's just not any good.

Because the Bills have no linebackers, and it wouldn't hurt Maybin to get on the field as a linebacker instead of riding the pine as a defensive end. Linebackers have been known to rush the passer. (the Giants had a guy who could do it) It's not like the skills would hurt his future as a defensive end. The real question is why not?

Bingo! That is the only correct answer. At the beginning of this year a few more teams switched to the 3-4. But there are two undefeated teams playing with a 4-3 base defense. Look for the trend to fluctuate back as it always has. IMHO just run the defense that matches your: a. divisional opponents offensive strengths; and b. own team's personnel.

I have to disagree on the disruptive point. Just because he is smart enough to know that he won't get another contract is he does it in the press, does not mean he wasn't back stabbing Trent in the locker room. TO is a disruptive cancer. He puts out little effort, and isn't worth 6 million. For 6 million, you should get a solid effort every game. Not TO

Pay Perry and tell all the others to beat it!

Hey did you know the Bills game was on tonight? What were you watching? -
I had a guy in my row claim he saw him in the McGuire club. He admitted that he was just busting chops, but we discussed how sending one text could start a huge rumor. I think Shanahan can afford NFL Sunday ticket, and it would be next to impossible to sneak him into WNY on a weekday, let alone a game day. Sooo, I think we'll probably file this under "rumors-limo driver".

Can We All Agree That If Shanahan
fansince61 replied to BuffaloBaumer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That was in 2003 or 04 and it was $200,000. The price now might be a first round pick. The only option is to interview a minority candidate, or hire a current assistant. I'm thinking we're holding an interview. Perry's audition is not an interview, but he could be interviewed at any time. -
They wouldn't. Hate to lose their winning tradition... oh wait, they have never won anything.

Nicely done. Think of all the money you saved on billboards. -
And he's not any part of the solution either.

Not going to ask how you just happened to know where that picture was.

The Bills Plan for Remaining In Buffalo
fansince61 replied to Mr. WEO's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thanks Counselor, but that's just not how it works. Ralph decides to leave the team to whomever he wants. Fact is, he has stated publically that he is not leaving the team to his wife. This makes sense because if he left it all to her, he'd be leaving his kids/grandkids out of (what I assume is) the biggest asset in the will. You see Ralph is a father and grandfather and your theory would only work if Mrs. WIlson were the only one named in the will, which is a highly unlikely scenario. -
Fitz's record was 4-7-1 last year.
fansince61 replied to fansince61's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The point of this thread is that people have been talking about a 4-3-1 record all over this board. That's not his record. Feel free to get excited about him, I'm just pointing out a simple truth, the guy has not accomplished anything yet. Hopefully he will starting Sunday -
I don't want to bash the guy, but I keep seeing reference to a 4-3-1 record. He started 12 games and was 1-7-1 before a 3 game winning streak against Cleveland,Washington and KC.

Is Florio the new Mort?
fansince61 replied to HereComesTheReignAgain's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Edwards thing was really weak. Florio is quoting his colleague Tom Curran. The piece is weak because nothing prevented Curran from asking Edwards "what do you mean 'WHEN I face the problem?" Of course, had he asked, Trent could have explained what he meant. But in the world of GOTCHA journalism, Curran and Florio were only too happy to take the quote and decide it's context. Criticize these idi_ots and they'll hide behind the fact that they are a blog and not real journalists. Still, they bear reponsibility for what they post. THis was probably one of the weakeast moments I've ever seen on PTF. What a shame. It's normally a pretty good site. -

Bills Home Game(s) Already Sold Out
fansince61 replied to buffalonian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
1. Yes, but the luxury box revenue is the area where the Bills struggle to compete for revenue. Forgive the use of an analogy, but it's like everyone is running a steak house and we brag that we sell the most baked potatoes. 2. Extremely. 3. Why bother. In business you always give priority to your loyal customers. At OBD, thats the season ticket base. That might hurt the feelings of those who can't afford season tickets, but that's life. 4. It says we love the Bills and believe we have a chance. I know a lot of people criticize us for this point. However, it's our money, our Sunday afternoons and who has a right to tell us we should be spending either on something else. Where else would you rather be on a Sunday in the Fall? -
How good were the 1990's Bills?
fansince61 replied to FightinIrishBills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They were an amazing offensive juggernaut team. Jim Kelly routinely played lousy first quarters and we routinely knew they would win any way. They could score at will. Sadly, the defense was ok but not dominant. In one season we went to the big game with the leagues worst rated defense. They gave up a lot of yards, but were often at the top of the league in takeaways. Bruce Smith was our best player on defense which helped a weak secondary. Bruce could take over a game. Eventually teams learned the way to neutralize Bruce was to run right at him. He was so bent on getting the QB, that he wasn't that great at stopping the run. Marv, was heavily criticized by the fans back then. People used to say he was a poker player who was dealt four aces, but still managed to lose the big game. To your question the AFC was weak in general, but the Bills of the 90's did what you are supposed to do against weak teams, they demolished them. It was a great time to be a Bills fan. Any of your friends who cut down that team don't know what they are talking about. Dallas and Washington had huge offensive lines, and deserving champions, but the Bills teams of the 90's were great. At the end of the day, the Hall of Fame will probably host, Kelly, Thomas, Levy, Smith and eventually Reed, Tasker and Hull.
