Global warming err Climate change HOAX
Azalin replied to Very wide right's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
"Very broad and vague" seems rather charitable. -
It works fine for me.

And apparently without arrows.

Agreed 100%. I loved the post-Cardassian war/pre-Dominion war political intrigue, and a great cast got even better by adding both O'Brien and Worf. Garak was great from the start, and got even better as the show continued. The Cardassian who was the main antagonist throughout the series was Gul Dukat. Garak was the one who had at one time been a high-ranking assassin in the Obsidian Order, who claimed to be nothing more than a simple tailor operating a modest clothier shop on DS9. Andrew Robinson played Garak perfectly.

I think that would be a great idea, provided they could write something plausible in light of the war having basically ended with DS9's series finale. That would be an opportunity to have Sisko as a character again - maybe have him return from the wormhole/celestial temple. He could either be an ally to Picard or a foil to his plans (remember the friction between Sisko and Picard from the attack on Wolf 359). I'd like to see Garak back in action as well.

So, did you hit your head on something today, or did someone slip a pineapple in your suppository box?

Should Sarah Huckabee-Sanders be allowed to eat in peace?
Azalin replied to #34fan's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Just imagine how much more material they're sure to be providing the RNC before the midterms. -
Holy crap, they hit like girls.

If that happens, we're going to need a whole new message board to accommodate all the leftist freakouts that will ensue. How about HHH for Histrionics, Hubris, and Hyperbole ?

Time to Outlaw the Democrat Party
Azalin replied to Warren Zevon's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
When I first moved to Texas I stayed with my brother at his place. We were sitting down to a steak dinner one evening when he turned his head for just a moment, and as he did I saw a gray, furry paw reach up, bury its claws into his steak, and pull it off the plate and onto the floor. He turned back to begin eating, and just stared incredulously for a moment at his empty plate. I gave him my steak, washed his off and ate that one instead. It was one of the funniest things I've ever seen. -

Baskin's only purpose with that post was simply another lame attempt to associate the term "snowflake" with the right. I find it particularly funny that he gets so butthurt over a term that describes people who get butthurt so easily. -
They grew up there - I believe their neighborhood is nicknamed Dalworthington (Dallas/Ft Worth/Arlington). I lived in Irving for 7 months in '98/'99 and saw one concert while I was there - Black Sabbath at Reunion Arena with Pantera opening. I didn't like Pantera at the time - Phil's vocals were a bit much for me. That show was incredible. Dime was a beast. Pantera was so good that I was shocked. I literally went from not liking them to being a fan in one day. I had all their albums by the end of the month. The crowd loved them, too. They were essentially playing for their home town fans. The Abbotts lost their mom years ago, now they're both gone too. Their dad, Jerry, is all that's left of the family.

Roseanne Show cancelled by ABC after racist tweet
Azalin replied to ChevyVanMiller's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Same here. I only scored a 30. -
Whether or not you liked Pantera, Vinnie was one hell of a drummer. Both Abbott brothers are gone now, and the world is a decidedly more quiet place for their passing. Rest in peace, Vinnie. http://www.blabbermouth.net/news/vinnie-paul-died-in-his-sleep/

You're right - we probably have watched a game or two together in the past. I have no doubt that you're a decent guy, and I'm sure we'd get along just fine. I only mean to say that the anti-Trump crowd here is beyond vociferous, and that any such gathering I've seen (I work downtown at 9th and Colorado, with the Governor's Mansion right next door in one direction, and the Capitol building directly adjacent) is rife with a bitterness and hyperbole that I am unaccustomed to. The right has their fair share of idiots to be sure, and I encounter them as well, but they do not compare in numbers or vitriol to what I have encountered here in Austin from the left in general. -

This city is full of like-minded people. In Austin, you will be accosted for showing any support for this administration. The local concept of diversity is "we'll associate with people of any color, ethnicity, gender, sexuality or creed so long as you think exactly as we do." -
The Media's Portrayal of Trump and His Presidency
Azalin replied to Nanker's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
FTA: Nazi and concentration camp comparisons have been made by others during the debate over the border policy, including by former CIA Director Michael Hayden, who tweeted a photo of a Nazi death camp with the caption "other governments have separated mothers from children." Let's forget for a moment the nearly comedic level of hyperbole routinely doled out from certain outlets on a daily basis, and take a moment to consider how insulting statements like that are to concentration camp victims, not to mention how it takes away from just how bad nazi Germany was. -
http://www.latimes.com/nation/nationnow/la-na-nn-texas-immigrant-children-20140618-story.html " Since October, 47,000 children have been caught crossing the southern border without parents or other family members, a more than 90% increase from last year, federal officials said. The number of unaccompanied children caught could reach 90,000 this year." That's a quote from the article you linked. They even use the word "unaccompanied".

I'm deeply saddened. He was a brilliant mind. Rest in peace, Dr. Krauthammer.
