  1. Because he has been in the league for what, 5 years now? And it is obvious why he has improved this year from last year: Coaching. But you are acting like this is the first time Fitz has actually played well. Did you not watch this guy at all before he became a bill? When he filled in for the rams due to injury his rookie season, all espn could talk about all week was "MAN! This harvard QB is pretty damn good!" and that was like 5 years ago. The guy is good, but if he had the talent to become an elite QB, he would have shown it by now. The guy has the same talent he has always had, and has grown as far as his instincts go. But his talent isn't going to be elite. QBs don't just become talented overnight after being ok for 5 years. Unless you are michael vick who wastes his life away, then decides to use his talent after sitting in prison. But yeah, aren't these the years that a QB should be in their prime to begin with? Unless what I am saying is against the norm, I don't know why you are shocked by what I said.
  2. It is obvious his point was that Luck actually has the potential to be an elite QB, where Fitz has probably reached his potential. This might be our best shot to get a QB with this much potential, yet too many people are saying "pass" because it is ok to settle for a QB that plays well.... taking a QB with Luck's potential is well worth it, and is something this team needs. As far as the trenches go, we have been building in the trenches. We used a 1st rounder AND a 2nd rounder on the offensive line all in the same draft.... we have developed bell into a decent LT (a MUCH better LT than the steelers are dealing with right now). And in the last draft, 2 of our top 3 picks we on the defensive line. People keep crying that we have to build the trenches, yet they don't see them actually doing that? All you guys see is spiller, maybin, and DBs and complain about the trenches. The past two drafts have been working toward the trenches more than anything. The starting offensive line is looking pretty good right now, aside from RT. Our Depth now... that sucks. But if you are saying we should build o-line depth over looking for a franchise QB, then that is just WAY to conservative and crazy to draft oline depth over a franchise QB. The defensive line obviously needs some work, but they are obviously going to address that since they are already working on it. In one offseason they brought in 4 new players/big prospects for the front 7: Davis, Edwards, Troup, carrington. Then you can throw moats in there as a player who actually developed faster. Truth is, they ARE working on the trenches. They need a lot more work though. But I see nothing to say they are going to stop working on them.
  3. They did bring in a couple decent free agents, but they are both on IR now. It isn't crazy to think that they won't fill at least 2-3 holes via free agency. I think now that Chan has seen this team more, he is going to be asking for a lot, so I expect more activity than last year as long as the free agency period isn't turned completly upside down. I just don't think that it is fair to say nix/whaley is the same as levy, guy, and danahoe. Of course, modrack is still there, which sucks. And that cornell green signing sure was a nightmare. But at least when he didn't work, they released him. Same with hardy. Nix has done a lot of things I don't like, but so far I like what chan has done on offense, they seem to scrap players that don't work, the kelsey extention (though I still don't like it) looks a lot better than before, free agents davis/edwards looked good, etc. I doubt that they have the ability to put together a superbowl team (or even a team that will make it far in the playoffs) during their stay in buffalo, but this doesn't seem like the front office of the bills the last 10 years. The one thing that still bothers me most is that cornell green signing and modrak still being there. But those are really the only two things that reek of the former bills.
  4. Winfield and williams are the only two players we rid of that I wish we still had. I don't miss the jonathon scotts, robert royals, nate clements, trent edwards, jp losmans, and even the sam aikens at all. And at this point, I would take freddie/spiller over mcgahee/lynch. And I'll admit, there are days I miss peters... but I love wood, and bell is getting better. So screw him for all the headachs and holdout. That is just stupid of him. As for lenard... I remember the fans liking him and him being a stud on special teams, but he just couldn't get it together on defense. And it is a wierd thing, because as bad as our coaching was, the one thing we seemed to coach well was the DBs.... so a bit of a mystery how we missed on that one. Yeah, it sucks so bad that fat pat isn't still a bill.
  5. If they give us to him for free, then I say go ahead and PS him. But don't give up any draft picks for a player that has almost no chance of being a great QB. I'd rather have clausen. Give me luck or wait until another year to grab the future QB.
  6. Hire mcdaniels as QB coach. And Gruden sounds like a good choice to replace him.
  7. Even though he hasn't gotten a lot of touches, and has looked downright BAD on some runs, I think he is averaging more than 4 yards a carry right now. That stat alone gives me enough hope that he won't be a bust. Personally, there are other players I wish we took instead. Most of them on the defensive side.
  8. Probably learned he still needs to replace half the roster.
  9. I am thinking the same. It won't have to be a high pick, but we will have to have someone replace jackon whether it be a draft pick or a FA. But I don't see the need of drafting a RB in the first 2 rounds unless spiller turns out to be worthless. But I expect him to be productive.
  10. I think poz, McIntyre, Florence, and whitner are the only 4 who have contracts run out after this year that are worth re-signing, but not to big contracts. They should really be just re-signed to avoid creating holes. Though Mcintyre is a pretty cool player to have around. Florence I think we will need if the crazy injury to Mcgee is going to keep him off the field for like ever. McCargo and stroud also have contracts up, but I say let them walk. Also reguarding Poz, it depends on which defensive scheme we settle on. If we have a 3-4, then we really need poz because we have so few LBs. But if we go with a 4-3, then Davis is our MLB and I don't think poz would make a good OLB.... so I think that will play a part in whether or not I would want him re-signed.
  11. Well, they are having similar rookie seasons. Well, if this season has proved anything, the offensive line is pretty close to good. It is the depth that is just terrible, and maybe right tackle. But the starting line as a whole has gradually improved each week. Spiller obviously has to get used to the nfl speed. He hasn't gotten a lot of chances because we started out the year with two pretty good vets, and now just one vet. Then he got injured.... so I don't his rookie season is looking pretty average as far as first round RBs are concerned considering he had to play behind two starters and nurse an injury. Ryan Mathews and Javid Best aren't looking any better. They seem more injury prone and not as effective. Spiller would have a lot better numbers than Best had spiller not had to compete with Lynch and Jackson. So if you are saying it is a wasted pick, that is too early to tell. But he isn't having the best or worst rookie season as far as rookie RBs go. Ironically, the best rookie RB is Foster who was on no one's radar until preseason. So can't really fault the bills for that unless you wanted to fault every other team except the texans. Spiller can obviously bring production (he has in games already) which is not at all like former picks like maybin, mcgargo, etc. This guy can actually contribute. I say if he turns into a Reggie bush type player, he is more than worth keeping around. But that is still yet to be seen. But since he is not going to be an every down back, I think that will make his career last longer and he will last longer than the average back. So if he turns out to be good, we will have a good weapon for awhile.
  12. You can't have that many bad drafts and not have him be repsonsable for at least some of it. I don't think I would blame him for the whitner/maybin pick.... but a lot of other things I would. Especially those 2nd round picks we missed on. He finds gems in the later rounds like kyle william, steve johnson, etc. But man, those top picks are just blah. I think Nix and Co actually like him, and I don't see him getting fired until Nix or Ralph is gone. Agreed on all counts. We always wonder what the hell is going on in the war room.... if we knew the truth, it would probably answer a lot of questions as to why this team is where we are.
  13. Man, looking over the last several games, I really hope we have a good season next year.
  14. he will finally be able to do the extra special celebration he has been planning for nearly two years!
  15. What will happen to the bills when ralph dies is one of life's biggest mysteries right now.
  16. yeah, but that is to be expected from a internet radio broadcast. You had to listen to a lot of clutter, but there were a few bright spots where you really got to know him better. Especially from friends and family, and fans he has met in person. But all the "you are the best and I love you" calls got old when that was all people had to say. A professional broadcast would screen calls better and only put the calls through of people who had something to say. But overall, i liked certain parts enough that it was well worth the listen.
  17. The only problem I have with that is, what if they have a mix bag of players. They will have like half the players for the 4-3 then half the players for the 3-4. I think they need to pick a scheme and get the players that fit it. Right now, we have have like 75% for 4-3 (Kyle williams, stroud, kelsey, Johnson, Poz etc) and 25% for the 3-4 (Andre Davis, Dwan Edwards, Troup etc). Then on top of it, a lot of those players suck and need to be replaced anyway. Picking the best defense for this team is going to put players in the spots they don't really belong either way.
  18. I keep callin but can't get through. Bastards. Also that was interesting when his wife talked about how in high school he lost in a student vs faculty basketball game, and took it really hard. I guess he was always hard on himself. And when she called in, you could hear his kid in the background haha. I know he had a bad game last sunday, but I will be heartbroken if he ever leaves the bills for another team. This interview is fun at times, but too many callers with repetitive shoutouts. That honeymoon thing was pretty cool though.
  19. Too bad we aint winnin much. I love that he is answereing questions from the chat box and phone, but the "coach" and the callers sure like to hear their own voice.
  20. I think the bigger question is what kind of system will we have. I am not sure what we will have next year.... will they try 3-4 again or stick to the 4-3? That right there kinda hinders any defense prospect predictions.
