  1. We will probably sign a WR or two.... as camp fodder.
  2. I wouldn't be opposed to signing plax and trading lee. We would probably upgrade the WR position in the short term and get a draft pick at the same time. Though I am not sure how ready Plax is to make it back in the NFL, and I can imagine him coming back so quickly.... even Vick took year to really return, and that isn't something that should be expected out of anyone.
  3. depends on who's twitter it is. Schefter is right roughly 80% of the time. For the media, twitter is just a way to break a news story before writing a full article/segment to go in more depth. Like a teaser. It is just a promotion tool to bang out headlines. So far, others in the media are confirming that schefter is right about this, so..... yeah. if you think donte and schefter use twitter the same way, then that is just wrong.
  4. If it is true, the lawyers are involved now, so now they are going to fight over the language until it is perfect. And I am sure there is a lot of language to go through. That would be assuming that the basic framework of the deal is done.... which I have my doubts. But either way, it is going to take a week for the lawyers to go through the language. And for the past few weeks, the laywers haven't been involved. Also, that is the day of the owners meeting.... so the idea is that it would be a good time for them to vote on a CBA, if the framework is there.
  5. the team's new logo: http://www.umsl.edu/~keelr/leaf.gif
  6. And even though Chan isn't a top ten coach, I do like him as a coach more than I like Nix as a GM.
  7. That is just silly. Leonard didn't leave the bills because we were losing. The guy never did anything for us on field except special teams (can blame that on coaching). He didn't leave because he said "he, this team sucks, I am going to a winner." The guy was cut because he didn't contribute. Spikes was cut because of an injury he couldn't come back from, and went to another losing team. Clements went to a losing team, but only for a bigger paycheck. Peters went to a winning team, but only because of a bigger paycheck. Same with winfield. And Greer was let go because we were too deep at DB. Players didn't leave this team because the bills were losers. They left because the bills didn't want them or the left because they were seeking more money than they were worth. Honestly, if Peters, leonard, greer, spikes, clements, and winfield were all still on the team, we wouldn't be that much better, if at all. Peters and winfield would be the only improvements, and the rest would actually be a downgrade. So we very well could be worse without them. As far as recruiting free agents is concerned, I believe that is his biggest weakness since he was out of the nfl for awhile and he just didn't seem to attract anyone interesting, including coaches. But this team doesn't need an spikes, peters, greer, and clements. What this team needs is a tom brady, a jake long, a clay mathews, a ryan clark, and maybe a few others depending on how this draft class turns out.
  8. Of course the editors saw the story before it was printed. What the editors didn't know was that anyone close to the situation (the people that are actually negotiating) would say it isn't true and every other media outlet would laugh at them. There is no way the editor didn't call the writer into his office and pressed for more details about this "source" and how could he screw up so badly. You have to be nuts to think that you can print false information in a paper, and your superiors wouldn't be upset. Think about it. You sell the item at the wrong price, put the wrong tire on the car, put the wrong medicine to a patient, and just completly screw up any job out there and you think the boss isn't going to come down hard? I guess journalism is one of those laidback jobs where bosses just don't give a damn what you write and how bad you make the paper look
  9. Of course he is going to have a meeting with his editors over this. They are probably going to want to know his source and see if he could get another source before the rest of the media crucify them a 2nd time around. With all of the "sources" people in the media have, this guy has the only source that has leaked this info out? Sounds fishy. Not impossible, but the editors are defenently going to want to know more about this source. Usuaully, one source is pretty naughty in journalism. 2 is the bare minimum, and 3 is a whole lot more pretty. Imo, if the lockout were ending soon (next couple weeks) then there would be a lot more leaks out there.
  10. until a deal is done, this "talking" seems more like lip service.
  11. I don't think it is really going to be that important. I believe most of that argument was just to officially claim that the players weren't acting in good faith in negotiations. Then the players claimed the owners weren't acting in good faith because of the TV deal money.... right now, the whole "good faith" argument seems to matter very little. I think they were only looking to the Lockout suit to see who would get leverage from that. Hopefully the judges tipping their hands a little will get them to finalize a CBA before the ruling. It would suck to wait for a ruling, then really negotiate. But I think it is obvious they were waiting to see who would get the leverage, as far as the lockout is concerned. I don't even know if those charges are still being pursued by the nfl to the NFLPA, or if they can even do that now that the union is decertified.
  12. pretty much what he said 6 weeks ago. Kinda would like to see if he said the same thing about the pats*. He initially blasted them for their picks and said they did the worst in the AFC East.
  13. The meetings right now are not secret. But the previous meetings that were on tuesday, wednesday, and thursday, no one knew about until thursday evening. There were even some owners that had no idea until the media broke the story.
  14. Agreed. I don't see him cracking more than 600 rushing/recieving yards unless there is an injury to freddy.
  15. Not current state. But those three teams have had it just as bad the past 10 years (besides last year). If you want to talk about current state... there are probably even more teams worse off than us. Carolina, washington, denver, Arizona, to name a few.
  16. it is always a scary topic for me but OT for a minute.... in that pic, anyone find it a little creepy that dude is waiving a giant Gaily head?
  17. hopefully his name is merriman.... but that's a longshot.
  18. Lots of things. He has been wanting an NFL team for awhile. He has owned a professional football team back in that other nfl league that went out of business back in the day. Him just owning a professional sports team in the past should indicate that.
  19. ah kno talks ended about 90 minutes ago. Both sides aren't doing anything until june 3rd. Then they probably won't do anything again until they get a decision, in mid june.
  20. man, it will be a really nice surprise if things get turned around this week
