Stallworth is done and can't play. Wallace, welker, colston, and Wayne will be signed before march by their current teams. Vincent Jackson would be an interesting option since it is almost certain he won't be a charger and his ties with nix. The rest I would be ok with, but I would take Stevie over them, long term wise. But even if we re-sign Stevie, we really should sign one of the above, even if it is just a garcon type guy -
When do we get a new D-Coordinator
DanInUticaTampa replied to RyanC883's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
agreed with the mike nolan idea. would be a wonderful steal. -
Even though we are better off with a 4th rounder than lee evans, it is a shame we didn't replace him with someone better. Easley might have been something special, but that will be a huge questionmark for while, maybe forever. Even if we do resign stevie, we really should be drafting a WR with one of our top 3 picks somewhere, unless a really special player falls to us.

You mean the WR who caught a winning TD pass in the superbowl who shot himself in the foot does not have a 10 cent head? -

Obviously Chan would have discouraged it. Even when stevie does his off field jokes, chan isn't even impressed. When stevie dressed up as chan for halloween, chan's response "I didn't see it. sounds like he has too much time on his hands." Chan doesn't seem like the type of coach that would say "Sure, do something stupid and get a fine." Not to mention Chan has said he had to talk to stevie after the whole "why so serious" issue. it would be reasonable to assume this wouldn't sit well with chan to begin with. If chan told stevie it was ok to do that, then he benched him, then the whole team would be in an uproar and we would have heard about it. We probably would have heard it from stevie first, and for good reason. -
Mobility isn't the problem with him. His accuracy is very inconsistent, mainly on deep throws. If we upgrade the wr, he will be fine. If we lose Stevie and don't upgrade, then I would be worried. Gotta wait and see what happens this offseason. March isn't that far away

The One and Only Stevie Johnson Thread

Exactly. IF they don't resign him, then they are just starting over again and again, it it is annoying. They can't replace some talent, then lose another. The team will go nowhere. I think if they somehow do resign him, I think the benching will be for the best. His nonesense arguably lost us a huge jests game. Thins benching will go a lot farther to get it through his head not to do this crap. If he were on the team next year, and his penalty prevented us going to a the playoffs, we would have really wished he were benched this season just to prevent him from being an idiot. Now, whether or not this benching has taught him a lesson is a different story. He doesn't seem as bad as Ocho, but it is puzzleing to me that he did this stunt in a contract year and after the last one was made into such a big deal. Hard to tell if it was selfishness or stupidy. hoping it was stupidity, because that might be easier to fix. -

Yes, johnson was benched because he "likes scoring tds." Just Like santonio holmes was traded out of the steelers because he liked "scoring superbowl winning tds." -

this pretty much sums up how I feel. I agree stevie's stunt was stupid, I agree with the benching, but I want him re-signed. -
for all the crap we give Overdorf, the agents do seem to like him (from the most recent report). So I guess it isn't all negative. When you see reports like that, it seems more evident that it is more ralph than overdorf when players don't get resigned. I do find it odd that they overpay for someone like kesley, who is a decent player, but hardly worth what we are paying him, but our best players, they seem to have trouble paying a high amount. I am still surprised we have Kyle locked in for a longterm deal. Right now, I think it is 50/50 until I hear the front office say Stevie is a priority. Also want to hear some extension talk about JAckson. I know he is getting older, but he obviously has some left in the tank coming off his best season. Also would like to extend bell. people rag on him for injuries, but didn't he start all 16 games last season? I don't think he is as injury prone as people make him out to be.
-
that is wierd. I thought they stopped that last year. at least for now. also, they do resign CBs and RBs. Mcgee and Jackson have both signed extenstions in the past few years. Not saying mcgee was a worthwhile signing, but we did resign him to a big payday. This frontoffice has shown that they are willing to resign players they like. However, they seem to overpay on almost all of them. but this front office seems better at resigning than the previous ones. and that is really one of the only nice things I have to say about them right now. that is even with freddy and stevie still waiting to be extended.

I do like the idea of taking 2 OLB early.

Current Roster better for a 4-3 or 3-4?
DanInUticaTampa replied to Booger's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ridding Edwards wouldn't be satisfying enough. gotta make big changes on that defense other than coaching. -
Will Fred Jackson get a contract extension?
DanInUticaTampa replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Oh yeah, the bills really did treat him badly by giving him a shot to live out his dream as an nfl football player, giving him a job, having him make a ton of money that most of us will never make.... the bills would have been nicer if they just left him making $65 a game in a league no one has heard of.... -

DanInUticaTampa replied to Buffalo Beeeews's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Only if they told us it would give the bills a super bowl win. Of course they would be lying, but we couldn't pass that up. -

DanInUticaTampa replied to Buffalo Beeeews's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't know. I am pretty sure there is something in my dna that makes rooting for the bills the only choice. I mean, I would love to jump ship and root for a winner like the packers. Buuut, i just can't. The bills are in my dna and there is no science that can cure me -
Wanny a 2nd rate hire? He is a superbowl winning dc! Those aren't exactly easy to find. Not saying wanny should be our dc or he can save this defense, but having a guy with his resume as a ilb coach is hardly a 2nd rate hire.

When the run game is working (TEN/MIA)
DanInUticaTampa replied to Kaenon's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It is really odd. Gailey wouldnt do that with Jackson. It might be he doesn't have much faith in cj and the defense and too much faith in Fitz. But whatever the reasoning is, Chan was wrong to stop feeding spiller. Especially when the passing game gives up all those turnovers. -

Future of the Bills roster
DanInUticaTampa replied to BADOLBILZ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Like you, I am not sure about winning. But that offense took a real nosedive once Wood got injured. They couldn't run the ball at all and fitz had a lot less time. the past couple weeks the oline got better, but once wood went down, that offense tanked. I am not sure how many games they could have won, if any, but that injury is what killed the offense. The jackson's injury was just the final nail in the coffin. IMO, they need to make the playoffs next year, otherwise gailey/nix are going to have no excuse. year 3 there should be more progress. Gotta add nelson in there. guy is usually pretty good. also mcintyre. -
Santonio Holmes bashes the Bills
DanInUticaTampa replied to mike oxhurtz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is what bothers me as well. I can care less about his celebrating. It is a mistake that probably won't happen again and it is a simple thing to fix..... but his dropping the ball in clutch situations.... that really bothers me. I am not sure how much that can be fixed, but he does seem to drop a lot of passes. his hands just aren't elite. his best ability is getting open. he has great footwork. but he needs to stop dropping the passes. especially in clutch situations. -
Why DEMOTE the "Stache" to DC?
DanInUticaTampa replied to BuffaloBillsForever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
i'd go for it. doubt mangini would be interested. -
he looks good for a rookie. Though today wasn't his best game. Same with williams. I think they will both become decent starters. But this defense: 1) needs kyle back 2) Help at OLB/DE who can rush the passer 3) A new DC oh buffalo.
