  1. he is probably going to get a matt moore type of deal. A qb who hasn't seen much action, but looks promising.
  2. I wanted the bills to draft him, but he doesn't seem to be an nfl starter. We aren't going to have a ton of spending room I am guessing. I say pass on him. Better players out there
  3. If he had broken ribs then no way would they have him throw as much as they did. Unless gailey is crazy
  4. just like everyone else that talks about the daft pretty much.
  5. I don't think that is what he meant... but Bucs are going to interview childress now, too. Not the best lot to be picking from.
  6. It is a sad franchise. They are just as dysfunctional as the bills, they are just not cursed like us.
  7. doesn't wade run the 3-4? Either way, no idea where tampa is going with HC. I guess mike sherman isn't going to work out....
  8. I would find it very ironic for a winning franchise to hire someone from our front office to run their team. Really seems kind of odd. I like whaley and all, but I would find it hard to believe he will be the one they pick. He isn't exactly part of a front office lighting the world on fire right now
  9. I think this is correct, but only for the 2nd half of the season. The first half of the season, I think the only problem with the offense was a lack of a deep threat. The injuries certainly killed it, and after the injuries happened, the playcalling and stratagy suddenly changed (but I could be wrong, I am not looking at the stats). It seems after jackson and wood went down, the playcalling became more passhappy than ever, and the run game got shelved. This was even though the run game appeared to be successful. I know chan has said exuses like they were 3rd 20 because of penalties caused by the run game, they were playing catchup, or the opposing defense made halftime adjustments that shut down the run game, yadda yadda. I am not sure how much of that is true.... but I really felt, like most here, that not running the ball is what killed the offense. I also think it lead to his poor performance. He plays better when we run the ball more and the whole offense isn't put on his shoulders. Overall, I think that the only problem with the offense in the first half was a lack of a deep threat. And I think they can return to that type of offense with success with the key players returning, and using the run game more. That is if they keep stevie. Hard to tell how this offense would look like without him in it... if they do keep stevie, I really wouldn't be worried about the offense though. Defense is another story. Even if the bills add a legit pass rusher, I am not sure if that alone would fix the defense. I don't think anyone knows exactly what is wrong with it. We all know it needs a pass rush on there, but I find it hard to believe that alone would fix that mess.
  10. The point is any year anything van happen. Qb driven league? Of course. But look at Alex smith leading his team after being labled a bust for so long. Look at sanchez going to the afc championship twice, who is hardly a top ten qb. Having a top ten qb is nice, but we don't need one to be successful. We might need one to win a superbowl, but us having a sucky team isnt because our qb isn't an elite guy. It is because we have a defense with no identity, lack of talent at reciever, zebras that play for the other team, sloppy drafting, terrible injuries, questionable playcalling, no pass rush, contract extensions that have become the kiss of death, no deep threat on offense, having our guard play 3 different positions on the oline, and then of course, you can throw having an average at best qb un there as well. But having a top qb isn't going to fix this team. Too many other issues.
  11. Stallworth is done and can't play. Wallace, welker, colston, and Wayne will be signed before march by their current teams. Vincent Jackson would be an interesting option since it is almost certain he won't be a charger and his ties with nix. The rest I would be ok with, but I would take Stevie over them, long term wise. But even if we re-sign Stevie, we really should sign one of the above, even if it is just a garcon type guy
  12. agreed with the mike nolan idea. would be a wonderful steal.
  13. Even though we are better off with a 4th rounder than lee evans, it is a shame we didn't replace him with someone better. Easley might have been something special, but that will be a huge questionmark for while, maybe forever. Even if we do resign stevie, we really should be drafting a WR with one of our top 3 picks somewhere, unless a really special player falls to us.
  14. You mean the WR who caught a winning TD pass in the superbowl who shot himself in the foot does not have a 10 cent head?
  15. Obviously Chan would have discouraged it. Even when stevie does his off field jokes, chan isn't even impressed. When stevie dressed up as chan for halloween, chan's response "I didn't see it. sounds like he has too much time on his hands." Chan doesn't seem like the type of coach that would say "Sure, do something stupid and get a fine." Not to mention Chan has said he had to talk to stevie after the whole "why so serious" issue. it would be reasonable to assume this wouldn't sit well with chan to begin with. If chan told stevie it was ok to do that, then he benched him, then the whole team would be in an uproar and we would have heard about it. We probably would have heard it from stevie first, and for good reason.
  16. Mobility isn't the problem with him. His accuracy is very inconsistent, mainly on deep throws. If we upgrade the wr, he will be fine. If we lose Stevie and don't upgrade, then I would be worried. Gotta wait and see what happens this offseason. March isn't that far away
  17. Exactly. IF they don't resign him, then they are just starting over again and again, it it is annoying. They can't replace some talent, then lose another. The team will go nowhere. I think if they somehow do resign him, I think the benching will be for the best. His nonesense arguably lost us a huge jests game. Thins benching will go a lot farther to get it through his head not to do this crap. If he were on the team next year, and his penalty prevented us going to a the playoffs, we would have really wished he were benched this season just to prevent him from being an idiot. Now, whether or not this benching has taught him a lesson is a different story. He doesn't seem as bad as Ocho, but it is puzzleing to me that he did this stunt in a contract year and after the last one was made into such a big deal. Hard to tell if it was selfishness or stupidy. hoping it was stupidity, because that might be easier to fix.
  18. Yes, johnson was benched because he "likes scoring tds." Just Like santonio holmes was traded out of the steelers because he liked "scoring superbowl winning tds."
  19. this pretty much sums up how I feel. I agree stevie's stunt was stupid, I agree with the benching, but I want him re-signed.
  20. for all the crap we give Overdorf, the agents do seem to like him (from the most recent report). So I guess it isn't all negative. When you see reports like that, it seems more evident that it is more ralph than overdorf when players don't get resigned. I do find it odd that they overpay for someone like kesley, who is a decent player, but hardly worth what we are paying him, but our best players, they seem to have trouble paying a high amount. I am still surprised we have Kyle locked in for a longterm deal. Right now, I think it is 50/50 until I hear the front office say Stevie is a priority. Also want to hear some extension talk about JAckson. I know he is getting older, but he obviously has some left in the tank coming off his best season. Also would like to extend bell. people rag on him for injuries, but didn't he start all 16 games last season? I don't think he is as injury prone as people make him out to be.
  21. that is wierd. I thought they stopped that last year. at least for now. also, they do resign CBs and RBs. Mcgee and Jackson have both signed extenstions in the past few years. Not saying mcgee was a worthwhile signing, but we did resign him to a big payday. This frontoffice has shown that they are willing to resign players they like. However, they seem to overpay on almost all of them. but this front office seems better at resigning than the previous ones. and that is really one of the only nice things I have to say about them right now. that is even with freddy and stevie still waiting to be extended.
  22. I thought 8-8 was pretty realistic. 6 or 7 wins was probably more realistic considering the defense played. I never expected such a lopsided season though. And if some crazy way we sweep the pats, then I say the season was a success, despite how bad this team probably is.
