  1. That is not what happens in the war room.... read the book "the GM" by Tom Callahan. The scouts don't just "hand over notes and tape" and that is it. The team's big board isn't made by just two people. in the war room, when they are deciding who to pick, it isn't something decided by one or two people. There are several people in the room helping with who to pick. In the book, Accorsi says the 1st pick in one where he would have the most say, and after that, he would listen more to the rest of the staff. I am not saying that Nix should get any credit, good or bad specifically in SD, but to say all he did as assistant gm was "pass along notes and game tape" is a very naive comment. Except with his first draft with the bills when he drafted a bunch of small school prospects. those were headscratchers from the begining.
  2. trading jackson is worse than the guy that wanted to trade spiller last offseason for like a 4th rounder. I really don't know where people get these ideas. I don't think we really have any players left that are tradeable. I think evans was that last one that we had that had any value that we didn't need. All the other players we have that have value are players that we need to keep. we need to add talent, not get rid of it.
  3. Please, think before you post. Especially when its a new thread
  4. The offense was fine until Jackson and wood went down. As soon as that happened, the play calling became suspect. But before that, the play calling and game plans were good, for the offense. Defense is another story, and it has more than one problem
  5. Best way to see improvement at the cb position is to get a pass rush. The only cb that would look good with our pass rush is revis, and he ain't available
  6. This class doesn't seem as deep as last year. I never liked the trading down or up idea. Just stay where you are and take who falls to ya.
  7. Yeah, I always have liked thoner. He is definently one of the better posters here. Kind of wish this happened to some other poster that actually trolls to get a rise out of people.
  8. lots of people smoke weed, but very few get busted for it. You would actually have to be stupid enough to buy it from a cop or openly confess in order to get caught.
  9. I'm not gonna lie, even if I see it I still won't believe it.
  10. Teams overspend all the time on players. There very well could be a team that would.
  11. I liked whitner as a player. He was solid for us. But when he made a mistake, he really made a mistake. With that said, our defense would not be better with him. If there is any drop off with Wilson, it is very small. And.I think that searcy kid has potential. Donte was better than fans gave him credit for, but this is one of the few times we let a player walk while we had a just as good enough replacement on the roster already. So I think that the front office did a fine job with that part. Too bad they have let other players walk with no replacement plan over the years.
  12. he is probably going to get a matt moore type of deal. A qb who hasn't seen much action, but looks promising.
  13. I wanted the bills to draft him, but he doesn't seem to be an nfl starter. We aren't going to have a ton of spending room I am guessing. I say pass on him. Better players out there
  14. If he had broken ribs then no way would they have him throw as much as they did. Unless gailey is crazy
  15. just like everyone else that talks about the daft pretty much.
  16. I don't think that is what he meant... but Bucs are going to interview childress now, too. Not the best lot to be picking from.
  17. It is a sad franchise. They are just as dysfunctional as the bills, they are just not cursed like us.
  18. doesn't wade run the 3-4? Either way, no idea where tampa is going with HC. I guess mike sherman isn't going to work out....
  19. I would find it very ironic for a winning franchise to hire someone from our front office to run their team. Really seems kind of odd. I like whaley and all, but I would find it hard to believe he will be the one they pick. He isn't exactly part of a front office lighting the world on fire right now
  20. I think this is correct, but only for the 2nd half of the season. The first half of the season, I think the only problem with the offense was a lack of a deep threat. The injuries certainly killed it, and after the injuries happened, the playcalling and stratagy suddenly changed (but I could be wrong, I am not looking at the stats). It seems after jackson and wood went down, the playcalling became more passhappy than ever, and the run game got shelved. This was even though the run game appeared to be successful. I know chan has said exuses like they were 3rd 20 because of penalties caused by the run game, they were playing catchup, or the opposing defense made halftime adjustments that shut down the run game, yadda yadda. I am not sure how much of that is true.... but I really felt, like most here, that not running the ball is what killed the offense. I also think it lead to his poor performance. He plays better when we run the ball more and the whole offense isn't put on his shoulders. Overall, I think that the only problem with the offense in the first half was a lack of a deep threat. And I think they can return to that type of offense with success with the key players returning, and using the run game more. That is if they keep stevie. Hard to tell how this offense would look like without him in it... if they do keep stevie, I really wouldn't be worried about the offense though. Defense is another story. Even if the bills add a legit pass rusher, I am not sure if that alone would fix the defense. I don't think anyone knows exactly what is wrong with it. We all know it needs a pass rush on there, but I find it hard to believe that alone would fix that mess.
  21. The point is any year anything van happen. Qb driven league? Of course. But look at Alex smith leading his team after being labled a bust for so long. Look at sanchez going to the afc championship twice, who is hardly a top ten qb. Having a top ten qb is nice, but we don't need one to be successful. We might need one to win a superbowl, but us having a sucky team isnt because our qb isn't an elite guy. It is because we have a defense with no identity, lack of talent at reciever, zebras that play for the other team, sloppy drafting, terrible injuries, questionable playcalling, no pass rush, contract extensions that have become the kiss of death, no deep threat on offense, having our guard play 3 different positions on the oline, and then of course, you can throw having an average at best qb un there as well. But having a top qb isn't going to fix this team. Too many other issues.
  22. Doubt coples is there when we pick
  23. This is probably going to be the case.
