  1. This isn't at all common in the nfl. It took the saints drew brees' AFTER his contract expired to re-sign him. Look at all the players that got a franchise tag last year. Teams don't re-sign player this early as often as you are making it out to be. And as great as byrd and levitre are, calling them leaders is a bit of exageration. Especially on levitre. I wouldn't call either of them leaders. Kyle Williams, George Wilson, Fitz, and freddy, THOSE are leaders. Hence why freddy got extended (plus he outperformed his contract). I'm sorry. I just don't see the "risk" of losing one of them of we don't sign them right now. Would it be that bad to sign them in late season? Hell, if all else fails, we can franchise one of them. This risk is so minimal
  2. I think if byrd has a huge year, the worst thing that happens we franchise tag him. But I think this front office is able to resign players and only use the tag as leverage
  3. Well, not exactly. Although these games aren't competitive, there is competition going on. A lot of These players are fighting to be on the team, or fighting for a starting position. So you can draw conclusions on players with limited film tape whether or not Glenn should be starter is a lot more sensible than saying the team is off to a bad start of the season, before the season starts. Pre season is about the individual battles, not how the team performs as a whole in a preseason game. Sin short, it matters what Glenn looks like in preseason because he is fighting for a starting job. It matters what Mario looks like in preseason because he is coming off a season ending injury. It does not matter that the bills decided to throw the ball 14 times and not run it once, which resulted in no tds. That isn't what these games are meant for.
  4. They are not going to be paid top 5 money. Maybe top ten. Although they are good, they are just not top 5 at this point
  5. I didn't know the season started yet. But in all seriousness, if these preseason games are any indicator, the nfl really needs to get the refs back. These replacements will ruin the season for sure
  6. A little off topic, but when are the first round of cuts being made?
  7. I hear the pats* need another old receiver.
  8. Then gailey backed up Stevie that the whole team should feel that way. I am not seeing how this is a bad thing with the exception that all this talk needs to be proven on the field
  9. How can you not remember that? There must have been a few dozen threads on the subject last year. And a few dozen more when we didn't make a play for him Come to think of it, I was one of the people that wanted him.
  10. As much as we need better recievers, I don't think plax would be an upgrade for us. It is odd that they are looking at him. They seem pretty stacked at the position.
  11. That seems to be the case. And i feel ashamed that I would have hated the pick at the time
  12. I didn't see the game, so this saddens me to hear it. I was hoping Williams would step into an above average starter, and this isn't saying he won't, but it is a cause for concern. Meanwhile, there is what looks like a franchise qb out there that we missed out on.
  13. Due to the lack of Tebow coverage in the media, they probably never heard of him.
  14. There were a couple times I wish we took a shot at a QB the past few years. I would have liked Dalton in the 2nd round last year and I would have liked Wilson in the 3rd round this year. I am not saying both or any of those guys will be better than fitz, but I was hoping we would have taken a shot at them when we had a shot. And if we were picking at like 10-12 last year, I would have gone with Locker, but I wouldn't have taken him with the 3rd overall pick, at least not at the time.
  15. Injured players play all the time. And it isn't like we had nothing to play for. The team needed to play its best in order to grow. And if Fitz took the bench for an injury like that, he would lose respect of players like Stevie who played all season with a groin injury. Thete are so many reasons to start Fitz in those final games. Players play injured all the time. It isn't something that just Fitz does
  16. As bad as their line looks, solder looks like a great player. But their oline is going to hurt them this season, especially early on.
  17. They are probably going to ask him what he thinks of Tebow
  18. that is what we need. we need a more solid player opposite stevie. hagan, graham, easley, and jones battleing for that number 2 opposite stevie is pretty weak. All four of those have huge questionmarks, and none of them have proven that they can be in that role and play consistantly that play. Hagan was doing pretty good until the past few practices. Jones has made a lot of errors, that one with the ball hitting him in the helmet being the most alarming (and he has never had really good hands), easilly hasn't been able to hit the field, and graham is more than likely going to be a developmental player, and will take time. None of these players are what you really want in a number 2. But I also think that this is more glaring just because everything else seems ok. I would say, that unless something really freaky happens, going into the next offseason, the top needs of the bills will be: developmental QB, WR, LB depth, and maybe a saftey.
  19. I think this is the saving grace of the passing offense. As much as it bothers me that players like Jones are competing for the number 2 spot, there are other receiving options that seem to be doing well. Chandler has gotten nothing but praise from what I have read, and then we all know how dangerous freddy and spillar at on the passing game. So although our receivers are not as good as we like, there will be plenty of options for Fitz besides nelson and Stevie.
  20. I worry about it too. But if he looks into the rules more then I don't think he will draw another penalty.
