  1. Yeah, the overspending has been crazy. But it has only been a handfull of players. I really thought a lot more players would be signed by now, but it looks like a lot of teams are waiting for the dust to settle on the overspending before getting their hands dirty. When there are like no free agents left and we sign no one of value, then I would be worried. I think they are going to get at least 1 decent signing.
  2. out of all the things you can bash nix for, you are bashing him for drafting and releasing Asper and keeping Colin Brown, our only backup center? That is hardly a joke. They are both backup players that would have had no impact on this team at all last season. Keep Asper over Brown wouldn't win more games, get them more points, save chan's job, fix Fitz's QBR, or make Nix look any better. It is a meaningless move that teams make all the time. A lot of 6th rounders don't make the team. Nix may be joke of a GM in a lot of ways, but it has nothing to do with this move. What is a joke is that you are making this the defining moment when it is a move that doesn't matter either way.
  3. I think ever since the tebow trade, the media likes to bash on the jests for almost anything, and I think that will only continue until Rex/sanchez is gone. We have done the right things so far... we cut ties with players that just were not going to get it done for us. The next part of getting the players we need is the tricky part. I think that if we get: a QB that is better than fitz, one of the 2nd tier WRs, a decent MLB, A decent OG, and a stop gap TE, I think we can go 8-8 this season. Now, if by some stroke of luck we get a QB that can light it up, anything can happen. And of course, the more likely scenario, we plug in holes, some work, some don't, and we are 6-10 or worse.
  4. no it's not. It actually is fairly common. In fact, in 2012, 3 guards were drafted in the 6th round, and all of them were cut before the regular season. 6th round picks are not a lock to make the team.
  5. pretty much. They really should draft two QBs like the redskins did last year, even if their second QB they draft is someone they stash on PS. Gotta get the QB position settled. We haven't made any attempts really at getting it fixed up.
  6. I dunno, I think the sky might have fallen sometime in 2005. We are just waiting for it to rise again.
  7. That would be an interesting move. It isn't something I would push for, but if they did do that, it would have to be something like in the mid 20s they would trade down to I would think.... so They would probably get a lot in return for it.
  8. One thing they actually do well is dig in the dumpster and find hidden gems (chandler, pears, ubrik). So this is actually their strong suit... the part they screw up bad is the part that comes up in april. The jury is still out on a lot of the players they drafted, but so far the ones they draft aren't pay off for the most part.
  9. Hey, but at least that trade filled what we needed at receiver! oh, wait... we need receiver too, right? Well, at least we are set at Runningback until they trade fred for a 7th rounder and need to use our 2nd rounder to replace him!
  10. that year they won their first superbowl, they had like 25 free agents that joined the roster. They pretty much built that team from free agency. If by some magic they get a QB this year that turns out to be a franchise QB, we can be one of those teams that contends every year and all of this is moot. If we don't get the franchise QB, us being good is slim to almost possible depending on how well we grab other players. We need a QB, and only then can we afford to make the mistakes that not only we make, but most teams make. QB is what we need. And I am sure there is at least one in this draft that turns out to be a franchise player.
  11. Damn it.... why did you have to remind me. I was much happier thinking that even though we didn't fill any holes yet, we at the very least didn't create more holes.
  12. I don't know. A lot of these deals so far don't really look worth it, with the exception being ellerbe. And that one is still a bit of a risk because it is based on such a small sample size. The bills really needed QB, WR, and LB, and there really aren't that many of those positions out there this free agency. The best we can do is get some depth at defensive back, grave a WR or 2 that would be an upgrade over Jones/nelson, and bring in some QB competition. Even wallace wouldn't be a game changer if we brought him here. He is basically a slightly better lee evans and the only thing he is really good at is the deep ball. I would rather draft a couple decent WR prospects that can run better routes and can do more than just run fast. Wallace doesn't even really have good hands.
  13. Agreed. especially on DBs. Lots of cheap depth/camp fodder for that. In order to build through the draft, we need to draft well. Our draftees don't contribute enough.
  14. Ravens must be asleep. They are losing players and not signing any! Dooooomed!
  15. I think it is worse. I think no one is really in charge and there is a power struggle with a lot of disagreement. it has turned into the US congress. though this is just me playing chicken little with nothing but my crazy imagination with no evidence.
  16. I wouldnt call it a surprise. The hardest thing about it is that all the picks in front of us are wildcards. Even the 1st few picks people have no idea. I think a really high rated player falls to us at 8 and that is who we pick. Someone that people are expecting to go in the top 3
  17. Last time I checked his stats, he looked worse than aaron Williams
  18. Well, he played a hell of a lot better as the nt than he he as a 4-3 dt. Though there are other factors surrounding his play than scheme. Is Spencer johnson still on the roster? He seems like serviceable depth
  19. I don't know bout tko being best fa pickup in recent years. I think Chandler and freddy could be argued
  20. pretty thin line between the two. it is pretty obvious we won't be making a big hit on day 1. We don't have the caproom to over pay for any of these top guys. They are going to be grabbing affordable stop gap players for the most part, and if they are lucky, they will get a couple decent starters that we can afford. With that said, no way do Jennings or Wallace wear a bills uniform this season.
