If we win these next three games...
DanInUticaTampa replied to Wesdawg's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It would make a huge difference for me. Especially with the Jags and pats* game. I haven't seen EJ play good on the road yet. If he plays well in those two road games for us to get 2 wins, that would make me feel a lot better since their "franchise" qb is making strides. I expect him to play at least ok at the phins game. He plays fine at home usually. Not sure if we will win that game, but EJ should be ok. It is the away games that I am worried about. No way are the titans going to want him. They are sitting pretty good at QB. Adding cutler wouldn't do them any good. Texans/vikings/jax etc seems like more likely places. Places that are in QB trouble. Locker was looking pretty good this season until getting hurt, and fitz isn't playing bad for a backup. -
Stevie Johnson: stay or go
DanInUticaTampa replied to The Big Cat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No way in someone like Andre Johnson coming here. He would go to a contender. People need to get that. Andre is hating his current team, he won't trade one loser team for another. -
Stevie Johnson: stay or go
DanInUticaTampa replied to The Big Cat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well, talentwise, he is very replaceable. But getting someone as good as him would probably cost more. It all depends on the market. I think they have a better shot at getting someone less talented for less money, which I am not sure is a good thing. Besides talent though, I always felt he had a sense of loyalty to the team. And he is always angry after a loss which is nice. People rag on him for not trying hard enough, or goofing off too much, or his "antics." But I don't think any of that has anything to do with his performance. People use that as an excuse, truth is he has reached his limitations, and this is the best he can be, even if you take all the antics out. But I think in a couple years, his contract is only going to look better. And when it rounds out, and it works for both sides, they can probably sign him again on a much cheaper contract and still get some good things out of him. Or they can let him walk if his play isn't what it used to be. And if they trade him, I would like at least 3rd. anything less would be disappointing. Especially with our receivers. ridding stevie would make graham the Vet there. And I don't think he has much time left on the team either -
Stevie Johnson: stay or go
DanInUticaTampa replied to The Big Cat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well, this year, yes. But next year he is probably going to fall out of the top 30. There are a few receivers that are going to eclipse him in free agency. If he stays on this current contract, he is only going be getting paid like the number 2 receivers. By just cutting him, they aren't going to get a player that is better than him for the same amount of money. And trading him for something good seems like wishful thinking. Trades are difficult with it taking two to tango. I don't see how money should be the main factor. Like if he was taking 500,000 less a year, all of a sudden people would forgive him. Bills blow that much in QB camp fodder and then some. Stevie could be making just 5 mill a year, and it's not going to make much of a difference on this team. There are so many other things that need attention rather than "can we save a bit on stevie or get some 4th or 5th round draft pick for him?" -
Stevie Johnson: stay or go
DanInUticaTampa replied to The Big Cat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Because Fitz obviously wasn't the long term answer at QB, and would never see the field unless the new starting QB got injured. Stevie wouldn't be a "backup." He would be a number 2, and still be playing a lot of snaps and still producing a lot. Comparing a number 2 receiver to a backup QB makes no sense to me. Completely different roles imo. Stevie might not be a top receiver, but an argument can be made that stevie is the 2nd best receiver in the AFCE after maybe Santonio Holmes. That might be a stretch since this season has been stevie's worst season since his rookie year. But the other years, that argument could be made. Not sure how 2nd WR would equate to a backup QB though. Are 2nd WRs considered backups? I didn't think they were, but I could be wrong. He isn't getting paid a crazy amount. His contract is pretty modest. He is in like the top 25 as far as what he gets paid by the year, but every year he is going to get pushed down that list. Guy is a bargain for what we get out of him. Nothing like the mike Wallace contract. -
Stevie Johnson: stay or go
DanInUticaTampa replied to The Big Cat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They shouldn't cut him. At worst, trade him. He might not be a big time receiver, but he gets us good production to keep games alive. Hopefully woods can develop into a legit number one receiver, even if he isn't elite. It is better to have Stevie on the team, despite him being a good number 2. Having a good number 2 will only help our number 1 when and if we him. Stevie's contract is pretty reasonable. Isn't like he is preventing us from signing players or anything. People are way too hard on the guy that has helped this team way more than he hurt. -

Luck is great. Their team is getting killed with injuries across the board. We have had several seasons like that. Luck will be fine. And I still have hope for EJ, but I would make an even trade for EJ and Luck any day. -
Pettine versus Hackett
DanInUticaTampa replied to hondo in seattle's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's the only reason why I am not calling for his head. Offense is def a coaching problem. Gameplan is just not strong at all. Either the run game, the pass game or both are absent from every game. Yesterday, there was no run game and we forced our rookie QB, who isn't that good to begin with, try to win a game. It is ridiculous how lopsided everything is with this offense week to week. The only consistant thing is that it is well below average, if not completely sucking. But it can't help EJ's development juggleing coordinators, which is the only reason they would keep Hackett at this point. Run defense is still horrible, they are about average in giving up points, and they give up a lot of big plays by being overaggressive. I like the defense a lot, and I consider it "good." But add a run stuffing linebacker and get Gilmore playing good, and this defense would be one of the best in league. Right now, they are not one of the best, imo. -
Too soon to just drop him. Hasn't even had a full season yet. So far, he has looked ok at home, and bad on the road, and that could change pretty quick. After the next 3 games we will know more. Of he all of a sudden lights it up with the final games, then ill feel better. He very well could play well in the final games. Jets game he took me by surprise, and he can do it again. But EJ isnt the only thing I am worried about... This team needs more than better qb play to win more games
-
They really need the oline to protect him better so he can throw it deep more often. That would really him. On one of the sacks, woods would have been wide open deep if they gave him just a half a second longer. There was litterally no one covering him at all. And a better tight end would really help him out. Sucks he looks like a rookie qb, but hopefully he turns into something more. Doesn't help that his 2nd part of the season looks worse than his first half
-
This shouldn't be a big deal. Stevie gets injured, but he still plays well when injured. In his entire bills career, this is the first season that he missed a game for an injury. Woods has missed more games to injury than stevie. Only reason WR is even on the list is because Stevie is our number (for now) and he is horrible in clutch situations. He is like the tony romo of wide receivers. Talented, good production, but in clutch time, bad things happen. WR might even be taken in the 1st round for us if there is one available. I think Graham doesn't have much time left with us.

The Buffalo Bills have a better QB Situation Than...
DanInUticaTampa replied to Boludo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Palmer is playing pretty good for the Cards right now. I think the only clear cut teams we are ahead of QB wise is: Jets Browns Raiders Texans Viking And that is really befause those are the teams that obviously don't have their next year's QB on the roster or because they are the jets. All the others have too many unknown variables to really judge. Even Henne has been playing good. Hard to judge EJ. Even after this season since he missed four games. I like EJ, but he has a lot to prove still. -
Backup QB options for next season

I think Thad would be the better choice. More upside and looks fine. But I wouldn't be surprised if they go grab someone with more experience when they become available -

Week 14: Bills at Buccaneers

Ill be there! Bills got a lot to prove, so hopefully they step up. -
pretty much what I am thinking. Finally got to see the game. Even though he has had a rough season and it is disheartening to see him regress, I can't write him off. He showed a lot of promise last year, he has played well at times this year, and last year when people were ready to kick Aaron williams off the team, he shows up this year. I think there is enough talent on this team to seriously compete, but they need a lot more experience to go a long with that talent. I honestly think that the only changes talent wise that are really needed is help at MLB when we are in the 3-4, an upgrade at Tight end, and oline help. And I would like to have a more dominant wide receiver, but that might not be an easy find, and might not be necessary if all the rookies improve. The talent is there at other positions, but they need experience. I am not a fan of Hackett, but it is hard to tell if he is part of the problem or if he is a victim of inexperienced players screwing up. I really think a legit tight end would do wonders for this offense. I used to like chandler. He was a big target that caught everything thrown to him. But this season he has dropped quite a few easy catches, and he is making himself expendable.

Panthers and ravens?

Depends on the team and depth. From this season, the biggest dropoff we had was when we lost Lawson for a game and we had Hughs take his snaps. Hughs is good for pass rushing, but man did he look like a joke in coverage

Well as of right now we draft 6th
DanInUticaTampa replied to Kellyto83TD's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Crazy how many people were ready to dump EJ a few weeks ago.... Can't believe people are calling for another 1st round qb already. We don't know where we pick, we don't know who will be available, and we don't know how EJ will finish. If EJ wins 4 or more games, it is a waste to draft a qb in first round. We would prob be picking out of top ten, and best qbs will be gone, and 8-8 is a good start for EJ, so better to address other things. If we lose all of our games, and somehow a really great qb falls to us,, then yeah, go for it. But with so many unknowns, it makes no sense to be all in for drafting a Qb in the first round based on how little we know -
Climbing the NFL Power Rankings

Next 3 games are very winnable, despite not being played in buffalo. Miami game is winnable as well. Color me optimistic for next year of they finish 8-8. Next four games are winnable, not a lock though -

DanInUticaTampa replied to Doc's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't know. There would be more obstacles the article doesn't say. NFL teams can't be owned by a cooperation. So the rogers family are the real buyers. They still have a lot of money, but the article suggesting the cooperation is the competition is misleading. Toronto would prob need to build a new stadium to get the bills as well, and I am not sure NFL would allow them to buy it. I think it is 50/50 rogers family buys it
