It was actually the other way around last year. Tuel was on the reg roster all year and Dixon was on the practice squad

Agreed. Before the injury Trent had a Alex smith feel to him. Not a big arm, but managed game and checked down, didn't over turn. After that injury, he was checking down still, but doing it all wrong. So horrible throwing the ball to someone behind the LOS all day. For a rookie, I was happy with EJ not counting the injuries. His knees have me more worried than his talent. Though I do worry about talent a little bit too. He had some awful games last year, but he had some good ones. Especially earlier in the season. He will have a chance to show if he learned anything last year and is at a higher level. Im still expecting a terrible season by the bills, because after all these years, that's all I know

Olbermann Bills/Soccer insult
DanInUticaTampa replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Probably one of the lesser stupid things he has said. I would have actually chuckled at that had it been someone else telling it. So painful to watch him. He always looks like he is forcing himself not to laugh or trying to prevent himself making a huge random outburst. and a little off topic, I cannot understand how soccer is so popular. A sport where you barely use your hands doesnt seem like much of sport. but the best thing about soccer:They are really good at not having so many freakin commercials. Huge problem I have with football is they somehow squeeze more and more commericals in a game each year. Really ridiculous, If there is any reason to pay to go to a game live, it is to avoid the commercials. -
Mario Williams to be on Top 100 tonight
DanInUticaTampa replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Worst part is that it was my fault. Me going to the game in tampa cursed it as soon as I bought my ticket -
I really liked him as a swing tackle. good value for the 4th round. He could start on some teams at tackle. If he can play guard, our oline will be much better than last year.

Arizona should be higher, even if the AFC is weaker. Cards beat the Seahawks in seattle last year when it seemed impossible. Arizona might be the third best team in that conference. I put them ahead of the saints and packers honestly.

I politely ask you guys to stop quoting taksersghost. I have him blocked so I don't have to read his nonesense, and quoting him just subjects me to the mental pain I am trying to avoid

Fitzpatrick named Texans Starting QB

10 minutes after the announcement, Andre Johnson Announced his retirement -
Initials are serious business. Front office just doesn't get that though. Knowing them, they are going to replace EJ with somone with initials like JP. Remember those days? oh boy.... Btw, I was hoping with minicamp starting these nonsense threads would stop finally. Where are all the dozons of "this is my 53 man roster" and "surprise cuts" threads? those are usually the redundant stuff on here by now. +1

TJ isn't a bad receiver. I think he is better than most people say. A lot of people hate him because he is mostly a number 3 receiver and we "could" have had russel Wilson with his pick. He isn't bad, but we have talent at receiver that is ahead of him. On other teams, he would be a solid number 3 guy.
-
I like him as a 5 receiver. He would basically be Goodwins backup. Goodwin is the better all player, but he seems to get injured pretty easy. Graham is the only receiver that can match his speed, so Graham is good for depth. He isn't a bad receiver, but we do have better talent on this team. And I don't buy the think where Rodak is speculating WIlliams being cut and the team keeping hogan and Graham ahead of him. Williams getting cut isn't something that will be noticeable until preseason games start. If he sucks up that bad in preseason, then I would worry. Still wish we kept stevie though. Have stevie in the slot, Woods and Watson on the out side with williams in the 4 receiver sets, and then goodwin be deep threat. that would have been nice. A littler nervous if woods/watson gets injured and then williams gets into trouble.

ESPN.com interview with Whaley
DanInUticaTampa replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
For the most part, yes, he was conservative. With an exception or two. I still don't think this trade gets done with Wilson alive. -

Well, him too. Though is role always seemed questionable as for how much he is actually involved in. -
ESPN.com interview with Whaley
DanInUticaTampa replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As much as they say Whaley is in full control of football operations, I am pretty sure that is only 95% true. Russ obviously has input into football side, and Russ even said in Ralph's final days Ralph was talking about safties in the draft he liked, which suggests Ralph still gave input, even if it wasn't a deciding factor. If ralph were still alive, it wouldn't have surprised me if we wanted to be more conservative in not giving away a future first rounder, and Whaley and Russ taking his advice. I don't think that this move was very much a desperate attempt to "win now" because of an ownership change is looming. The fact they traded away stevie, the most accomplished receiver on the roster for future draft pick, suggest they are not mortaging the future like some claim. They are doing what is best for the football team. I don't think Ralph had much say in football operations leading up to his death, but he obvoiusly still gave his input. it wouldn't surprise me for him to knock down the watkins trade, especially if he went by Polian's model which was mostly conservative. -
WVAU TV Marcel Dareus arrested-edit-again
DanInUticaTampa replied to Punch's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This team is a mixed bag as far as character goes, though I think there is more good character guys than bad. Fred, Kyle, wood, spiller, EJ, and others have strong good character. They don't have that winning nfl experience obviously. But good character leaders. There is def a character concern in a lot of the younger players though. I was worried about Alonso, but he seemed to have handled him self quite well his first year. A lot of the young players with character concerns haven't done anything bad since being drafted, darius being the exception The Mike Williams thing is the one that concerns me. I can't seem him as a bill more than a year. This is someone that is 10 times more stupid than darius -

Hard for him to play well if he gets himself suspended. Or worse, hurts himself racing. -
And we think Bills fans are nuts!
DanInUticaTampa replied to Ed_Formerly_of_Roch's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I can see the NFL trying to do that. Make extra money selling tickets to the away team. As die hard as nfl fans are, I can't see any of us but a ticket to watch a game on a jumbo tron, even if the tickets are super cheap -
Sammy Watkins - #30 Fantasy WR

Stop saying that. you will scare the children! In all seriousness, if hackett can't scheme with watkins then he needs to go -
Sure NFL Owners want to keep Bills in Buffalo.

Sammy gets double-teamed. Now, what?
DanInUticaTampa replied to #34fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You learn a lot from coming to these boards. Without this place, I would never know the value of trading mario for skelton, that bills lost every season because they don't care about winning, and defense is going to fall apart because we lost byrd. I need your help first. From your post, you are concerned that our number 1 receiver will get double coverage, and woods and williams will get single coverage? I don't see what concern you have there. From your first post, it sounds like your concern lies more into EJ, and not the receivers. Or maybe this whole thing just is nonsense. Either way, I am not worried about the receivers unless there is an injury. That unit is fine. more than fine. -
Gregg Easterbrook on the Watkins Pick
DanInUticaTampa replied to quinnearlysghost88's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I did at first honestly. But the next day when they traded Stevie for a future pick, that made me thinking they weren't selling out the future just to win now. They were doing what they honestly thought was best for the team. Whether they are right or not is a different story. But even with the loss of byrd, this offense and defense are much better than last year. Even with a tough schedule, 8-8 should be realistic. EJ would really have to suck for us not to move forward -
Bills' biggest need - All-around DE
DanInUticaTampa replied to ChanOverChin's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I know people are saying here that lawson isn't good against the run, but I think he is pretty good against the run. as bad as the run defense was last year, it looked a lot worse whenever he was absent.
