Does New England win any Superbowls if with Drew?
Fezmid replied to Pete's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He came off the bench and won the freak'n AFC Championship game. Nobody's saying he played the best game a QB has ever played in the league. But he WON THE DAMN GAME. God, when Flutie was "winning" games, everyone here was on their knees saying "He's a deity, he just always finds a way to win!!!!" When Bledsoe finds a way to win, it's "not pretty," "he didn't have anything to do with it," "dropped interceptions won the game for him." The double standards are *amazing.* CW -

Oh look, Pete [thinks he's] right... again.... And belittles anyone who doesn't share his opinions, errr, facts. This is Brady's statline in the first Superbowl: Brady 27 16 145 1 0 That's "great?" Umm, ok... And say what you will, but Bledsoe got the win in the AFC Championship game (regardless of what reporters want to write about Brady's 8-0 playoff record). A QB can't get a win for playing less than a quarter and being up 7-3 with a final score of 24-17. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/football/...ts_steelers_ap/ It's also getting old hearing about all the "almost" inteceptions he threw. I never realized that was an NFL stat... CW -
Regardless, he's innocent until proven "guilty." This could just be someone trying to get some cash from WM. It wouldn't be the first time someone did that. CW

Exactly. I also really don't think Brady desrved MVP for the first Superbowl, but he won it only because it was a good story. He only threw for 145 yards and a TD; hell, Bledsoe has games better than that and he's critisized for not "carrying" the team by throwing for 300 yards. Brady does it, and he gets Superbowl MVP. A. Smith averaged 5.1 ypc on 18 carries (he should've been MVP in my opinion). Ty Law had an interception for a TD. Their kicker made the clutch kick at the end of the game (although the score was tied at that point). What'd Brady do? One TD, and a couple of field goals, a similar performance to what Bledsoe did in the AFC Championship game. The only difference was that Pittsburgh had an awesome defense, and the Rams didn't. Yet again, Bledsoe is bashed around here for his performance in the Steelers game, whereas Brady gets the MVP... Go figure. CW -
OT - boy oh boy do I ever have a pain in my ass

I think you mean sciatic nerve... http://www.spine-health.com/topics/cd/d_sciatica/sc01.html My mom had really bad sciatica, to the point where there were days/weeks she literally couldn't move. Not fun at all. CW -

Kinda like how we were 0-4 and then wound up winning 9 of the next 12 games? Remember, the team was completely revamped in '01. Almost everyone was new. The argument could be used that the team started gelling after the first few weeks, kinda like what happened here. There's no way to prove anything one way or another, so it's all just speculation at this point. CW -

He threw the helmet in the Superbowl against the Redskins. I think he accidentally (or not, who knows) bumped the ref on the goal line to draw the 15 yard penalty. And that didn't prevent a TD if I recall; it was marked short (because, had the player scored, bumping the official would've been a post-play foul and thus marked on the kickoff). Flutie was sacked by Trace Armstrong and fumbled on one of the next plays, thus ending the game. Someone correct me if I'm mistaken. CW

Ummm, Price? Evans? Who did Reed have until Lofton came onto the scene? Burkett? Yeah... Both players had great supporting casts and crappy supporting casts. As has been mentioned, Reed never seemed to drop anything and he most definately didn't beg for a flag from the refs. He was a bit of a hothead, but that was his competitiveness. It's not even close -- Reed was one of the best in the game. There's a reason he was #2 in all-time receptions in the NFL until the pass-happy offenses started giving receivers 100+ receptions a season. CW

As you said, the graphics are much better on the Xbox. The other, often forgotten thing, is that the load times are MUCH shorter. I'm playing GTA:SA on my PS2, and it's *so* slow between scenes. When I played GTA:VC on Xbox, it was much faster. Plus, I like the XBox controller a lot better... But I appear to be in the minority on that one (I really like the large controller, not hte new "S" controllers)... CW

Yes, we all make mistakes; that's why you're supposed to proofread stuff. CW

If the Vikes want Henry and want to deal
Fezmid replied to Like A Mofo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd disagree and say that Bennett is a feature back. Where'd you read that the Vikes are interested in Henry? I havn't heard that on any of the local sports shows or papers (although I don't pay that close attention either). CW -

Why would the Vikings want Henry? They have Moe, Bennett, Ontario Smith, and Mewelde Moore. The last thing they need is yet another runningback. CW -
You plug an ethernet cable into your broadband router, sign up for Live (don't know the process right now; I was a beta-tester so got a special disk to setup the first time), and select a username. It costs $50/year. Come to think about it, you probably need to buy the "Xbox Live Starter Kit." Here's a link: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detai...ogames&n=507846 It comes with a headset so you can talk to your opponents, and also a copy of Mech Assault, which is an AWESOME game (although I didn't like playing it online). Scratch that, it now comes with Crimson Skies: High Road To Revenge instead... Never played that one. Not sure how the 2 month trial works though. CW

She lost her father AND her dad?! http://www.cnn.com/2005/US/02/01/double.tr...y.ap/index.html It was supposed to say "father and husband." Way to go guys. CW

I've got it, but have only played a couple of minutes. Got it for Xmas, along with some other games (like Ratchet and Clank - Up Your Arsenal for the PS2 - awesome game!). I'll probably start playing it soon, now that I won R&C. Here's a list of people who are on XBL: http://www.stadiumwall.com/index.php?showtopic=12085 CW

I don't usually venture over here, but thought I'd share this blog with everyone. I've been reading it for a year or two and she's a very good writer and gives a good perspective on what's going on over there. Her most recent entry about the election is also very nice to read IMHO. http://healingiraq.blogspot.com/ EDIT: Also, check out the Photo Blogs (link on the right). Lots of photos from anti-terrorist rallies in Iraq. Funny, the media here never talks about those... CW

(OT)FWIW TW+Comcast bid for Adelphia
Fezmid replied to stuckincincy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
D'oh... Still, I just looked through my records and I'm actually paying $2/month less than I was paying two years ago ($54.31 on 1/3/03 vs $52.37 on 1/3/05). So this price increase will put me only $1 higher than I was paying two years ago. I can deal with that, especially since I'm guessing this price increase will help keep Sunday Ticket low again (remember, people were guessing that the Ticket would cost well over $300 after they signed the contract with the NFL, but it's still only $179/year). It also still beats Comcast raising my cable internet bill from $45/month to $65/month only a couple months after I got service, all because I didn't have cable TV. CW -

Comcast is terrible. I've heard Time Warner isn't quite as bad... But again, Comcast is TERRIBLE. :I starred in Brokeback Mountain: Comcast. If I were in WNY, I'd recommend DirecTV; great customer service, better prices (you don't even have to rent the remote control for $3/month!). Did I mention that in the past 6+ years, my monthly bill has gone DOWN in price 3 times (and only up twice that I recall, maybe three times). CW
