Conspiracy theory - fixed game ?
Fezmid replied to Fan in Chicago's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There were also two blatantly bad calls against the Eagles yesterday. Both were overturned upon review, but one was less than a minute into the game (fumble by McNabb). Hmm.... CW -
Yup; born in '75. No idea how I missed football for the first 12-13 years of my life. Just never knew anyone who watched. Actually, I knew my uncles watched sports, but I was never interested so never watched with them during holidays and such. Sad, I know... CW

If you were a real fan you'd spend the $179 to watch all 16 games My story: My parents were never really sports fans, so I never got into sports as a young kid. Then one Monday night I happened to turn the TV on and saw this football game. Hadn't really ever seen a football game before. It was '87 or '88, and the Jets and Bills were playing. "Buffalo has a football team???" I thought to myself (yeah, I was living under a rock, don't ask). I watched the game intently, trying to figure out the rules and such. I don't even remember who won the game, but all I knew was that it was awesome to watch. I've seen almost every game since -- the only ones I've missed were a couple of games in 2001 when I was in London for my honeymoon, and whatever games were blacked out while I was in highschool; and the second I woke up, I ran to the TV to use their interactive TV feature to see the score (we lost...). And now I make DVDs CW

Conspiracy theory - fixed game ?

You also have to remember that when players say "I need to feed my family," they're not necessarily talkinga bout buying grocieres at the nearest Wegman's. If you want to set your kids up for life, that costs a lot of money. Let's say I make $3 million. That's about $1.5 million after taxes. I buy a nice house, there's another $500,000 (and that's not a *great* house, that's only an average house depending on the area). So now I have a million bucks left. Buy a coiuple of cars, some jewelry, buy a house and car for my parents, and pretty soon the money's gone. Now someone like Milloy, who's been in the league for awhile, should be set for both him and his kids. But a younger guy like McGahee for example -- he's far from set for life. Something to think about. CW -
Conspiracy theory - fixed game ?

I thought McNabb looked far worse yesterday than Kelly ever did. McNabb was throwing the ball nowhere NEAR his receivers half the time. Kelly's passes at least seemed to be close to the target, even if they were picked off. I'd be willing to say McNabb had a case of bad nerves yesterday, but that really doesn't explain the last 5 minutes of the game where they had no urgency, screwed up the punt return and then caught the ball at the line of scrimmage for no gain with time winding down. Chances are, everything was legit, but we'll never really know. CW -

So when you need about 70 yards with about 30 seconds left, and the defense is in prevent, you throw the ball to the RB at the line of scrimmage in the middle of the field where you know there's no chance of him getting any yards OR getting out of bounds? Sorry, but people would be ROASTING Bledsoe if he made that "decision," not to mention if he was huddling up with 5 minutes left in the game down by 2 scores. Not to mention if he threw an INT in the 4th quarter and simply shrugged and patted his chest saying "my fault." Yet I see posts here saying McNabb played a great game?!?! Wow... CW -
But games against the Seahawks, Rams, and Jets (all playoff teams) aren't "big games" because we won, right? CW

Wasn't that 30 yard TD followed by a 0 yard pass with time running down? Notice that most/all of McNabb's throws were in the middle of the field, with no timeouts on that last drive (except for the one he threw on the sidelines, out of bounds). Again, not sure I think the game was fixed. But McNabb made some *REALLY* crappy plays -- far worse than anything we saw from DB this year. Maybe it was nerves, but gosh, that team did NOT look like an NFL team at the end of the 4th quarter. And Reid's quotes afterwards were even more mystifying (regarding them not hurrying up more). Along the same lines, didn't I read something here where Ronnie Harmon said that he dropped the ball on purpose against the Browns because of some sort of bet or mafia or something. Pretty sure someone posted a link about that here awhile ago. Not that I'm saying the game was fixed or anything. But it was *awfully* strange that the Eagles weren't hurrying to score points with 5 minutes left in the game, down by two scores... CW -
One of these days, someone will actually define what the hell this means. Last I checked, all games in the NFL were big games. If it's games against winning temas, we won 3 of 'em this year (the Eagles only won 2...). If it's "every game we lose," then yes, we can't win "big games." CW

Yeah, SUUUURE it was... Uh huh... CW

We just started watching the season 1 DVD (saw about 6 episodes), and it really is VERY good. Lots of plot twists and such. The fight scenes are pretty cool, and Garner is easy on the eyes. CW

Just started watching the TV show Alias; the first episode of season 1 was disturbing when they started pulling her teeth out as torture. Made my mouth hurt... CW

You don't "stay" with a transponder. Each transponder carries a different set of channels. Silly DTV "tech" CW

Why? He can't win the big games... He was 2-2 in the regular season. If you count the postseason, he was 4-3, or one game better than Buffalo. CW

The alien wasn't that funny. The fish was hilarious -- and the scene with the german skier (with the transplanted brain) was great. The dad stealing the purse was extremely funny as well (especially the shot of him in the car afterwards). "Look, it's a pencil with the eraser shoved up Osama's pooper!!!" And shooting up the toaster? Hilarious. Overall, I still thought the show was very good. CW

I actually thought it was great. There were several times in the first 15 minutes that I had to pause it because my wife and I were laughing so hard. The second half wasn't quite as good, but I thought the first half was great. I was also very disappointed with the Simpsons episode. Nowhere near as good as I thought it was going to be. CW

You must've gotten drunk before the end, because it was a 31-0 final CW -
I'm sure careerbuilder.com is excited that you only remembered it as "that website." CW

In good weather, you should get high 80s, low 90s (depending on transponder) You usually get the same picture all the way down to 50-60. However, if a storm comes through you can easily lose 10-20 points of signal strength. Call DirecTV, ask for a free TiVo and a dish realignment. They'll give it to you if you're not under a 1 year contract righ tnow. http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showt...threadid=213826 CW

Personally, I thought the game was kinda dull... It was sloppy, filled with mistakes, and not that exciting. CW
