No, but left unchecked, it's only a matter of time before *everything* has DRM built into it and then your choices are limited. DRM is very anti-consumer, I don't understand why people are supporting it in this thread. CW

The Swarm do (not sure about other teams; our team seems to get down and then get chippy and then get into fights...). In a preseason game (yes, preseason!), towards the end of the game (down by about 5), an all-out brawl started. There was one fight... Then two... Then those were separated, but another started. And another... At one point there were three or four fights going on at the exact same time. I took a picture, should post it. But again, it could be just because our team is an expansion team and we suck (and our #1 player has been hurt since game 3....) CW

Heh, I mentioned that to my wife when I told her. I said, "Damn, I might've been able to get more." CW

And now, the rest of the story.... I never got the check when they said I would. It took me another week of complaining before I finally got it. I think I received it January 31st or so. I was still pissed, so I wrote a long complaint letter and mailed it to their customer service department. In the letter I outlined everything that went wrong, explained that I was not very happy, and requested a check for $100 because of the short-term loan I (in essence) ended up giving them. I expected to be ignored, or possibly to get a "We're sorry" form letter. Instead I received a phone call from their customer service department today. The guy appologized several times, asked if there was anything else they could do to provide better service, and said that he's sending a check for $100 out today. It doesn't quite make up for all the time I had to argue with them, but (assuming I actually get the check they promised), I'm happy that they did it. Moral of the story: It doesn't hurt to ask. CW

I was in highschool when the Bandits came to town, and I went to the first ever game with a bunch of friends. Tickets were something like $10/each and we were 3 rows up from the glass at the Aud. Great game to watch. Unfortunately, they lost... That was their only home loss all season And I think for their entire second season too... *sigh* Oh well I have season tickets for the Minnesota Swarm now and have been to every game. Guess what? They havn't won a home game yet either. I think I'm an NLL jinx. Don't knock it until you've seen it. It's a great sport to watch. And Buffalo's won a few championships too CW

How about the NLL? (http://www.nll.com) CW

And maybe Losman will be a little more careful instead of running into defensive backs during practice. CW

Does he prefer cheerios or lucky charms? Seriously though, if you have some games on tape I'd be more than happy to convert them to DVD and distrubute to TSW members. CW

Fine. I'll tell that to my lawyer next time I see him. CW

How do you know that? I can't recall seeing JPL throwing ANY screen passes ni preseason/regular season.... CW

Those players weren't really given much of a choice from what I"ve heard of the situation. CW

I have to watch every NFL game now? And he completed 53% of the passes; that's hardly a "handful." I simply wanted a reference to what OTHER quarterbacks generally complete, percentage-wise. Showing me the stats of two of the best QBs in the league doesn't let me compare how DB did in general. And to the "don't bash JP" crowd -- again, havn't seen any bashing but comments like, "he never takes the time away from Oregon/ Montana to improve on his deficiencies" are definately bashing. CW

Since about 1980; but they live in Niagara Falls, and it hasn't gone up in value much and is VERY difficult to sell. It took over a year for their neighbor to sell his house (and it's lalmost identical to theirs), and they had to lower the price several times. I think it sold for about $42,000 a couple of years ago if I recall correctly. If my dad lost his job, my parents would be fubar'd and simply selling the house wouldn't work (nor would it really be an option). CW

Averages are misleading. If you have one player making $10,000,000 and nine players making $1, the average player salary is over $1 mil. You've got a gruop of players that is very wealthy and that sitting out probably isn't hurting at all. You then have a group of players that makes less than $500,000/year and are probably suffering quite a bit from the lockout. If you check out nhlpa.com, you can get player salaries for the 04-05 (cancelled) season. CW
-
I think the stat could be misleading; when making a comparison, you shouldn't take the two best players in the league to compare to. What was the league average? What percentage did each team complete? Was he 15th out of 32 teams? Or 32 out of 32 teams? Stats in a vaccuum mean nothing. CW

So $350,000 is being overpaid? I'll tell that to my doctor next time I see him. CW
-
My parents make about $30k/year and they own. So again, your solution is to sell your home? That's real compassionate for the majority of NHL players who aren't living in mansions. You sound very bitter. CW
-
Wow, let's paint everyone with one broad stroke. Every player in the entire NHL is a spoiled baby. Yup, that's gotta be true. The guys making $350,000/year were out there saying, "God damn it, we can't have a salary cap!!! The team deserves more than $42 million on the payroll!!!!" I'm sure that's gotta be true Here's a newsflash for you -- if you earn $300,000/year, you're probably living in a nicer house/neighborhood than if you earn $25,000/year. My wife and I earn a decent living, and that's why we're not living in the slums of north Minneapolis. I've got a nest egg saved away, but it'd only last so long. Plus, I heard on the radio that the players don't actually get paid between April and September. Gretzky said that because of that, he doesn't expect any more negotations for quite awhile. That means they're probably not making $120,000/year, but rather $60,000/year. I'd say at least 30% of Americans make more than that a year. CW
-
Well they do, technically, have a point. By having to do the extra conversions, you're losing audio quality, therefore it's not the same as when you bought it. CW
-
I'll remember that next time someone posts on here that they were laid off. "Just SELL your house then!!!!" CW
-
Most players in the NHL aren't making the $5 million/year salaries... Chris Taylor of the Sabres was scheduled to make $350,000, while Adam Mair was seto to make $533,000. That's a very good wage, but they're not independently wealthy off of it. The ones who are really screwed throughout this ordeal is the refs; they made between $100,000 and $150,000/season and now they're getting NOTHING. There's no war chest for them, and they won't go down and take jobs away from the lower level refs (AHL, IHL, etc) because those refs backed them when they went on strike. As tough as the players have it, it's even worse to go from $100,000 down to $0. CW

It's one thing to argue letting Drew go but...

$120,000/year isn't really that much money... CW
