Since we're sysadmins, we have full access over pretty much all of the data in the company. Leaving your terminal unlocked is a MAJOR security threat as anyone could theoretically walk by and do whatever they wanted on the systems. Anything to try and remind people to lock their terminals is a good thing. About five months ago, one of my coworkers left his terminal unlocked (and had done it 4-5 times that week). So I sat down, opened up Outlook, and sent a resignation letter to our boss. My boss read the letter, freaked out (he was new to the position and had three resignations within the past two or three months already). He calls the guy in, and says, "Ummm, what's the meaning of this?" The guy says, "Oh, that was just Chris messing around when I left my terminal unlocked." My boss takes his glasses off, rubs his face, then looks at the guy and says, "Don't ever leave your terminal unlocked again!" The guy said, "But Chris is the one who sent the email!" and my boss said, "Yes, and you left your terminal unlocked!" Fun times. CW

Ok, here's what happened. I was talking with a coworker next to his cube and he opened up a browser. I glanced over and saw the Buffalo Bills website pop up. He turned around, glared at me, and said, "If only you knew how much I hate the Bills." I chuckled and said, "That's why I put it there, I saw the picture of your kid on the desk." He chuckled, said that was the second time he's left his terminal unlocked (it's actually the 6th or 7th, but we've been nice the other times and not done anything), and went back to work. The first volley has been fired and was successful. Next time I'm replacing his wallpaper. Anyone still have the large picture of Willis running over that poor Dolphin from this past year? That'd be a GREAT one to put as his wallpaper! CW

On the other hand, if they were just building "average" houses, viewership of the show would shrink. Advertisers wouldn't pay as much (or anything) because of that, and the show would fold, meaning nobody gets any help. CW

Really?!?! I hadn't heard that... Is that the episode where the house burned down? Or was that a different one? CW

That doesn't help when someone searches for this thread a month from now. Assuming people learn how to search.... http://www.rochester-citynews.com/gbase/Gy...?oid=oid%3A3340 CW

Wow! Tice targeted in scalping probe...
Fezmid replied to Greg de'Ville's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Think about it; let's say Tice convinces all 50 players to sell him their tickets. That's 100 Superbowl tickets. He's selling them to brokers for $1,700. That's $170,000. If he gives the players half, he's still making $85,000 *tax free*. Even if you're earning $1,000,000/year (roughly $650,000/year after taxes), $85,000 is a HUGE chunk of change! Keep in mind that the article says a lot of assistant coaches (who are probably making $100,000 or less) sell the tickets to make some extra money as well. We're not talking a few grand, this is big bucks. CW -
Ok, the first volley has been fired. He left his terminal unlocked and I changed his starting page to buffalobills.com (I was going to do twobillsdrive.com, but with the server issues this morning I wasn't sure if it was going to stay up the whole time). Now I just wait for him to open up a new browser... CW

I'm pretty sure that DVD is just the special they had on NFL Network. There's a lot of game footage and some interviews, but it's not as good as having the entire game IMHO. However, keep an eye on NFL Network and they'll probably play it again at some point. CW

How can people keep watching these law-type shows? It seems like law-based shows are getting more obnoxious than reality TV is... You have CSI, CSI:Miami, CSI: New York, CSI: Boise, Law and Order, Law and Order: Criminal Intent, law and Order: Guilty as Charged, NYPD Blue, The Shield, etc, etc, etc, and now Blind Justice? I'm getting sick of 'em... (of course it doesn't help that the CSI iseries is the one my wife and I watch teh most, and 95% of the computer stuff they do would never ever work in real life... I'm betting 95% of the "science" they do is probably bunk as well). It's sad that original programming (like Firefly - http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detai...s=dvd&n=507846) - note the 5 star rating with over 1200 reviews) gets cancelled while the same old cop/law shows go on and on. "It's a law show, only he's blind!! Yeah!!!". That said, I think my wife set up a Season Pass for it, so I'm sure I'll watch it in the near future myself... *sigh* CW

Hey, then why was my thread about a Dolphins-fan coworker marked OT? CW -
Wow! Tice targeted in scalping probe...
Fezmid replied to Greg de'Ville's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Riiight, because scalping tickets is right up there with running over traffic cops, verbally threatening passangers on airplanes, and assaulting officials on the field. As Tony says, 'Tice = Dauber (from the TV show "Coach"' CW -
Have them change their names to Jim Kelly and Thurman Thomas...? And wear Bills t-shirts 4 days a week? CW

Injury updates? Euhus, Campbell?
Fezmid replied to SuperBills12's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Someone posted that Cambell might not be ready until training camp at the earliest... No link provided though, so I don't know how accurate it was. CW -
No - it's football related, both Bills and Dolphins. At least, that was my thinking on why I didn't OT it. If another mod thinks otherwise, feel free to iconify the post. EDIT: Apparantly, I've been outvoted as the thread has officially been iconified CW

Are you saying he's the best actor of alltime? CW

Ooooh, that's a great one! I've mentioned before that we have an unwritten rule that, if you leave your terminal unlocked, you're fair game. He's already done it once (and has only been here a week!). Next time he leaves it unlocked, I change his homepage. That's subtle enough. I like the Cecil Collins thing, although he could always shoot back with an OJ comment (although at least that happened two decades after he was done playing...). I also like the Photoshop idea, but I don't have PS at work and am not very good with it anyway A well placed sticker on the picture frame might work though CW

So we hired a new sysadmin last week. Guy seems cool enough. Yesterday he brings in a picture of his child and what do I see the kid wearing? A Dolphins shirt!!! What the heck, don't we screen these applicants before hiring them?!?!? He hasn't said anything to me about my Bills jacket, so I'm not sure if he's really a fan or if someone in the family just thought the shirt looked nice. I'll have to figure that out... All I can say is that, if he really is a Dolphins fan, we better squish the fish twice next year! CW

I watched all of the Lord of the Rings movies
Fezmid replied to OnTheRocks's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If you take all three movies as one giant epic (which, in reality, it is), I'd say that LotR is a better movie than Godfather. It all depends on perspective though and on what you're rating. I'm not sure what I'd personally rank as "the best movie ever" (I don't know that it's even possible), but LotR is definately up there for more than just the special effects. CW -

I actually bought my tickets on eBay around May. I ended up buying 4th row seats on the 20 yard line for about $120 if I recall. A bit over face value, but definately worth it to me. If you're staying in Niagara Falls, there are no really nice hotels on the US side, you have to go to Canada. The US side is pretty much a dump overall (I even grew up there, in Love Canal to be specific ). While in Buffalo, you have to go to Duff's and try their wings. Personally, they're the best wings I've had. Others think Anhor Bar and Grill are. Others have different opinions. Heck, try 'em all! Car rental: Try using priceline or hotwire to get a price on those (as well as a hotel). There are actually sites you can use to "play the game" and get a good price with Priceline; my wife used it and ended up getting a car for about $30/day on our trip. I don't know the details, as she handled all of that. Hope that helps. CW -

Actually, the response from people leaving the theater was along the lines of, "That was a really good movie, but it was 3 hours long." I didn't hear anyone in the theater complain that they didn't like the movie. The movies are very enjoyable; and if you want to take breaks, that's what the pause button on your DVD player is for (although I absolutely despise pausing movies... But that's just me). CW
