The difference being that all DB said was that he wanted a CHANCE to be starter, but MM said he'd be 2nd string and that's that. If what you're saying is true, DB is getting a chance to be the starter if he performs in training camp/preseason. That's all any of the people complaining about the DB release wanted for him here -- to have a proven veteran who can play should JPL turn out to suck (or break another bone). So there's quite a difference there. CW

The main thing the Vikes do is give roster bonuses instead of signing bonuses. A signing bonus runs is divided over the length of a contract (ie: 5 year contract with a $5 million signing bonus means that $1 million of the bonus goes against the cap per year). The Vikes give roster bonuses instead, so all $5 million counts at once, but then they're clear. The downside, as stated, is that you need a LOT of cap room initially. CW

Apparantly you don't follow Bills football very much, because that's what MM said after DB was released (the "revamping the entire offense"). He said that they're going to tailor things towards JPLs mobility, etc, and that's one of the reasons they weren't going to have an open competition in camp (can't remember if MM or DB said that part). Assuming Buffalo was even looking at any free agents (which I'm not so sure about myself...), if you had a chance to play in Buffalo with a completely new offense and an unproven QB or play on a different team that has been more established and the money was similar, where would you go? (well, I guess I'd go to the Bills, but I'm a homer. ). CW

Anyone else ever received a "Church Prayer Rug" in the mail before? By "rug" I mean "large peice of paper with printing on it that makes it look like a rug." It also has Jesus' face in the middle with eyes closed, and the instructions for the rug say: "Look into Jesus' Eyes you will see they are closed. But as you continue to look you will see His eyes opening and looking back into your eyes. Then go and be alone and kneel on this Rug of Faith or touch it to both knees. Then please check your needs on our letter to you. Please return this Prayer Rug. Do not keep it." The back of the "rug" is even better! "This Prayer Rug is soaked with the Power of Prayer for you. Use it immediately, then please return it with your Prayer Needs Checked on our letter to you. It must be mailed to a second home that needs a blessing after you use it. Prayer works. Expect God's blessing." Umm, how do you soak a peice of paper in prayer? It gets even better. After some mumbo-jumbo about god giving you a blessing because of the rug, it gives better instructions: These next 24 important hours are crucial to you. Timing is important to God. After you kneel on this Church Prayer Rug, or place it over your knees, place it in a Bible, on Philippians 4:19. Worst case scenario? Someone uses a P2P software (like Kazaa) to download music illegally. The RIAA then comes knocking on your door because your ISP account was the one used to steal the music. Best case? You pay $3,000 fine and promise never to do it again (and if you don't secure your wireless network at that point, the RIAA may get pissed off at you). Worst case? The RIAA refuses to settle with you and they can sue you for $150,000 PER SONG... (as an aside, doesn't that seem just a bit extreme to anyone else?) MAC filtering, while a good step to take, is not foolproof. Anyone can change their MAC address with little or no trouble at all. Very impressive; I'd say most people aren't that vigilent. Many people think that if they enable WEP or wpa-psk, they're safe forever. Not true because (especially with WEP), it's trivial to crack the encryption in a week or two (less if you download a lot). You need to change those keys at LEAST every month, preferably every week or two. CW CW

Spoiler tips: Generally, the best way to post spoilers is to do the following: 1. Type SPOILER: on a line, then put some asterisks at the top of the next line 2. Under the "color" dropdown box, select anything. You'll see something like: COLOR=blue (with brackets around it) 3. Change the color to white (ie: COLOR=white) 4. Type in your spoiler. 5. Click on the "Close all Tags" link (to the right of the Color dropdown box). That way someone has to actually highlight the area to see the spoiler and won't accidentally read it. This is great advice for the various LOST threads as well. So it would end up looking like: SPOILER: ***This is my spoiler. Had this been a real spoiler, you wouldn't have seen it unless you really really wanted to. This is only a test. Thank you. EDIT: Hmmm, didn't realize that posts alternate between white and grey...
