Voluntary Conditioning Program underway
Fezmid replied to buffaloboyinATL's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't put any stock into this stuff. EVERY year EVERY player (on probably EVERY team) says, "We have a great turnout! We're going to have a great year!" Nobody ever says, "Well, turnout is pretty average this year." In fact, I'm pretty sure that last year they said that EVERYONE on the team showed up -- if that's true, how do they have MORE people here this year??? Doesn't add up, it's just mindless rhetoric. Wouldn't it be funny to find some secret papers describing how the Patriots were giving money to the Bears in exchange for good players...? Talk about a scandal. CW

Interested in hearing AZ fans ideas on Henry?

What's up with Price? Has he re-signed or left? No idea who the third would be... CW -

I thought it was hilarious when last year someone said that their grandmother would be better than the current starting QB! Oh, wait.... CW -
You guys will have a great time. They really know how to take care of you on the ships. For example, when we first boarded our Alaskan cruise, they had glasses of champaign. You take a glass, then meet up with a staff member who will show you to your room. We finished our champaign waiting for the elevator and saw an empty tray across the room so were going to put our glasses over there. As soon as we made a move towards it, the guy who was going to show us to our room said, "No, I'll do that," took the glasses and went to put them on the tray... It was weird, but kinda cool I guess. You'll see people cleaning the ship all the time, and anytime you pass by they'll stop, say, "Hello sir," and when you've passed will continue cleaning. Again, weird, but kinda cool. You might want to check out http://www.cruisecritic.com for information. The "boards" section is very good as well. If you have questions, post 'em there and you get good answers. You can also see if anyone else is going on the same ship as you (they throw a "Cruise Critic" party on board if they get enough people), and you can ask questions about the specific ship, the different ports, etc, etc. Excellent resource, we used it heavily while planning our Alaskan cruise. School shooting in northern Minnesota

My guess is no, since he's already dead.... I hope it's just media sensationalizing, but this morning on the radio they said that oneof the "clues" was: He drew a picture of a skeleton and captioned it with something like, "Do the dance of death until they fill their boots with blood." He also "liked goth" We try to teach kids not to stereotype and label people, but what's the first thing the media does in cases like this? CW -
NfL CBA Crisis? No Cap year in 2007
Fezmid replied to Happy Days Lois & Clark's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Is it really so much to ask for people to include a link instead of cutting and pasting the whole damn article? Legal issues aside, it's basic etiqutte, both for the board and for the person who actually wrote the article. CW -
We went to London (and Amberley) on our honeymoon... Doesn't sound like the kind of trip you're looking for though. Seriously though, consider a cruise. I took one to Alaska and it was great. A coworker of mine just went to the Carribean and loved it. They take GREAT care of you on the ship -- free room service if you want it, nice fancy dinners, great food pretty much all day long, pools, rock climbing walls, ice rinks, etc on the ship. You stop in port pretty much every day and then spend 10-12 hours in each city, swimming with the dolphins, scuba diving, laying on the beach, golfing, fishing, etc. It's great. Cruises are a lot like all inclusive resorts, only they move from place to place so you can see different things. It's amazing, and pretty cheap when you add up how much you'd spend for hotel and food on land. I didn't think I'd like the cruise because I thought it'd be boring and dull (except for the cities). I was wrong though. There's a reason that something like 90% of people who try one cruise do another one in the future. CW

I don't know, life seems pretty good in the Twin Cities.... I even got my bank to give me $100 because they screwed up my property taxes. We don't have the corrupt politics of WNY though (but we did have Jesse Ventura... ). CW -
Looks like no comp picks this year
Fezmid replied to HurlyBurly51's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Personally, I don't disagree with the concept. However, I think it's very subjective right now. It seems to be whatever the whim is of the people dishing out the picks. There's no standard formula (that's been released anyway), so it's a bit confusing. I do agree that the W/L record should be part of the equation (not the whole thing, but it should factor in). Who knows, maybe it does? It's all just a big secret, and that's the part that I don't like. CW -
Fredonia for one year ('93/'94). Hated it, moved to Minnesota, took a year off (to gain residency and not pay outragious tuition), graduated from the U of M with a BS in CSci in Dec '98. CW

Everybody knows that it's Dungeons and Dragons that kills people. I'm just waiting for reports to say that the kid played Doom all the time, even though that game hasn't been popular since the early 90s. CW -

Everything there sounds similar to me. Niagara Falls, public school, loans, lots of taxes now. My wife works part-time at H&R block doing taxes. With the presendential campaigns going on last year, and Kerry constantly saying, "The rich don't get taxed!!!!" she heard a lot of people complaining about that while doing their taxes. She had to remind them that Kerry was including everyone who makes over $100,000 as a family and that Kerry considered them "rich." Those people don't feel rich, and let me tell you they're sure not getting tax breaks either. My wife and I are trying to reduce our income (by hiding it in 401(k), flex spending, etc) because she's going to grad school and there's a tax break for that but it phases out at around $100,000 (I think it starts phasing out at around $80,000 and is completely unavailable to you at $96,000 or something like that). Remind me again how the rich aren't paying more in taxes? Hmm, what does this have to do with the shooting again...? Oh well... CW -
Wasn't that how the Monkees were formed? CW

Hey, we can glow in the dark together! I don't know what street we lived on; all I know is that our house was smashed into the basement and capped off and the whole area was surrounded by fencing because we were in the "bad" part. I graduated LaSalle in '93. CW

We had all better be prepared to go through
Fezmid replied to envirojeff's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm not -- he didn't lead the team to a single TD against the Broncos in preseason as well... And I don't think he did against the Titans either, but I don't have the stats to back that one up at the moment. I just used the Patriots game as an example of how he could, indeed, be far worse than what we had last year. We just won't know until the season starts. CW -

Fezmid replied to envirojeff's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Fair enough. However, if JPL plays the entire season like he did against the Patriots, that would be far and away worse than Bledsoe. DB played a few bad games, but he also played some great games and some average-to-good games. Let's see JPL throw a TD pass (even in preseason) before we annoint him better than our previous QB. Needless to say, the season will be exciting CW -
I missed this the first time around... I wish the Packers game would've been in Green Bay - I could've gone to see it then CW

Then why, after we removed Henry from the lineup, did teams stop blitzing us every down? Kelly has some good points and may be correct -- but either way, I saw Bledsoe evade sacks (and even scramble from time to time) once TH was out of the game. CW -

I think that's more the fault of the parents than the children. There was a thread recently about whether to allow their kid to go to the mall at the age of 13 or 14. Parents are becoming over protective because of what they hear in the media, so they're wrapping their kids in bubblewrap. That makes it harder for some kids to learn how to socialize, and then incidents like this occur ("I don't know how to deal with being teased, so let me blow someone up.") All of this is IMHO of course, as there's no proof one way or the other. CW -

Fezmid replied to envirojeff's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That'd be all well and good if it were true. However, once TH was removed from the lineup and WM was put in, DB was sacked on average LESS than Golden Boy Tom Brady. It seems to me the blitz was designed more to take advantage of Henry (who can't block), rather than DB. Look, I'm not saying DB was a great QB; however, you're delusional if you think that there's no way that JPL could be any worse. We could easily be worse. CW -
Poor kid... Seriously though, congrats! She's cute CW
