Nice catch. Does that count as nationally televised? CW

A resident of Alaska who frequents this board
Fezmid replied to KD in CA's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Would you say the same about dogs that are roaming the area without leashes? And regarding your cat situation -- why didn't you lure it out with some cat treats/food? The thing was crapping all over your garage because it was petrified. You can't chase a cat and expect to catch it. You need to use your brainpower instead. Giving people the right to shoot cats seems like a recipe for disaster if you ask me. CW -
It's the new TSW -- kinder and gentler to our own, but harsher towards ex-Bills. Ridiculous if you ask me; who here knows how smart Todd Collins may or may not be? Nobody. CW

Nope - one of the reasons I bought a townhome, so I don't have to deal with it. CW

Children don't get to pick their parents. (sorry, that's what I thought until the poor college boy part. Of course, if you've been in college for 12 years, and started late...... ). CW

I agree that people don't need to replace tubes to watch TV and that it isn't a needed skill. However, learning how to program still is, and always will be, a very important skill to have. Back in the day, you could turn the computer on and start writing a program right then and there. Today, Windows doesn't even come with a compiler... So kids are missing out on a valuable skill -- programming (as well as learning the inner workings of computers). Yes, that's not something everyone needs to know how to do, but the lack of exposure to it makes it harder for them to decide if they like it or not, and there's nothing wrong with analytical thinking. Ever think about starting a business where you travel to people's houses and make wings for them? I'd be happy to donate my home as a "test bed" to help you get your business plan down... CW

Thanks for proving my point -- nowhere do I say I love DB; I'm simply correcting (with facts/stats) the bashers who say DB is the worst QB in the league, gets sacked every other play, etc, etc. In fact, one of the most "pro-DB" comments I"ve probably made is saying that starting JPL is a bit unknown and that we'd have a better playoff chance with DB for one more season. That's hardly a DB-lovefest as some like to paint me with. Normally I'd feel bad about hijacking a thread, but it's only about Britney Spears, so no harm, no foul. (besides, I didn't start the DB talk ) CW

I'm just waiting for him to back up his claim (although he can't). My post about another 400 post thread can easily be backed up; he's done it multiple times and I have plenty of witnesses to it. Not busting anybody, just calling it like it is. CW

Yup, the VMS/VAX system at UB, that's what I first used. I found a purity test installed on the system. It was quite the interesting experience. I also did some Pascal programming on the system In my opinion, kids today are at a MAJOR disadvantage when it comes to computers. When I was a kid, I was programming and learning the inner workings of machines. Today, there's GUIs covering up the internals so you have no way of learning the internals without installing something like Linux; and frankly, if most parents don't know how it works, the kids probably won't be allowed to tinker with the family computer to install another OS. Kids treat computers like an appliance nowadays. Very sad IMHO. CW

The web started roughly end of '94/start of '95 (I remember because I got my first 486 DX4-100 in early '95). Before that, the main organizational system on the 'net was "Gopher" (developed by the U of Minnesota --- my school! ). USENET was another main communication form (still alive and kicking). Me, I used to play MUDs (Multiple User Dungeons); basically text based adventures that you played with real people. Very cool to interact, in real time, with people all over the world. Unfortunately, I graduated from high school in '93, and while I played online a lot, I didn't start any sort of business so missed out on getting rich. CW

Please find one post where I say I love Bledsoe. Just one. I'll wait. CW

Show me how QB rating measures "contribution to the team." CW -
fantastic, relatively non-biased article on losman
Fezmid replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I've said it before, I'll say it again. Every article written in the offseason and preseason make it sound like the player's going to the HoF. "I've never been around a group of guys so committed," "Everyone here is in the best shape of their lives," "I've never seen anyone study as much film/workout in the weight room as much." It's all hype and doesn't mean anything, just an article to write to sell a magazine/newspaper/etc. Still, I read them too EDIT: What a shoddy sentance: If you're going to write, at least learn how to not make it sound terrible... Oh great, another 500 page thread by Ed, coming up. CW

[OT] Anyone out there own a cell phone?
Fezmid replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I wish I didn't have to have one... I only got one because my job requires it since I'm on call 24/7/365 (or thereabouts... ). Pretty much sucks. Think of that next time you complain about your IT department at work. I even had to leave my company the name and number of the flat I was staying in when going to London for my honeymoon several years ago. *sigh* We wisened up and took a cruise to Alaska last year -- no cell towers on a cruise ship (although that's changing now as well.... ). We're too connected in this world. CW -
No kidding... Heck, UB is where I got my first 'net access from in '88 (from a friend of a friend who went there... ). CW

Fezmid replied to stevestojan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Look, all I've been saying is that we COULD do worse than Bledsoe. Was he the best QB in the world? No. Was he the worst QB in the league last year? Not even close. Was he average-to-above-average? Definately. He wasn't a Probowler, but he was definately middle-of-the-road and he gave us 9 wins. Reading posts here, you'd think we had 2. CW -

Only one losing record in three years. Better than the years before him, no? Again, don't you have another 400 page LAMP thread to start? CW -

Don't you read the posts here? Even Stevestojan's GRANDMOTHER could've won more than 9 games. (direct quote) CW
