  1. Interesting hypothesis. Sal was very clear that he was working with an NFL team to sell a minority stake and that the purpose behind the sale was estate planning. While there are other possible candidates (Raiders for example), I would not be surprised if it was the Bills. Especially given there seems to be an underlying optimism about the Bills staying in Buffalo from some potential buyer groups. Even if it is not the Bills, this is a nice find and a well constructed argument. Well done
  2. Heard that as well. You have to like the honesty of Gailey and the clear message he was giving Maybin.
  3. I went back the other day to watch the game and focused exlusively on Rinehart. Given the compliment he was given by CD, I was curious to see what he did. Like Wood, he also dominated when Ahtyba lined up in front of him. I was surprised by the amount of push Rinehart had against lineman and linebackers and when he combined with Wood, the pile just moved. He wasn't perfect but when he was engaged, people moved.
  4. I wonder if people's view of Reggie Bush might change given how widespread it was (is?) and how the players/agents were all aware what was going on.
  5. Timba, Never felt you were attacking me so no worries. It was a lousy and disappointing game to watch for all of us. I'm hopeful that with a number of returning starters this week the Bills will show some dramatic improvement. Key word here is hopeful! Cheers
  6. Yes it was the Washington game. I don't want to split hairs with you and I understand the point you are making. One play in particular caused me to have a different view of Meredith than you did. Unfortunately I erased my tape of the game but I believe it was on a pass play to Lynch in the left flat where London Fletcher tackles Lynch and drives him out of bounds. Look at the replay and watch how Meredith pushes the pass rusher to the ground with one arm. It was very impressive. At any rate, I appreciate your passion for the Bills.
  7. Not sure if you and I were watching the same game. I watched and rewatched the first 2-3 offensive series for the Bills focusing on LT and RG. I thought Meredith did just fine and was actually dominant on a couple of plays. In fact it was one of the few things that encouraged me about the game.
  8. It was odd watching the game yesterday. When I usually watch the Bills (even preseason games) I am into the game - I pace, yell at the TV and typically make my family cringe. But last night I watched calmly because of two things. The first is they played how I expected them to play because of the various reasons mentioned in this topic (injuries, new schemes, talent deficiencies, playing tired, etc.). The second is that I have come to like and trust in what Chan and Buddy are doing. They are the right guys for the Bills and while we may not see the fruits of their work this year, we will over time. Watching the Bills and calmness are not words I usually associate with myself but this year it is my new goal. Go Bills!
  9. I agree that getting quality FA's to Buffalo is not as bleak as some say but let's not kid ourselves about Edwards and Davis signing with Buffalo. Edwards failed physicals at his two other FA stops and Baltimore withdrew its offer so his options appear severly limited (I like the signing anyway and he is worth taking a risk on). Davis had a personal relationship with George Edwards which went a long way in getting him to come to Buffalo. The point of all of this is coming to Buffalo as a FA is not nearly as bad as some protray BUT it does take a little more to get them here than it does for other teams.
  10. Watched the game as well and what stuck out for me was the Bill's defensive. Big, strong, aggressive, tackled well. They were good and they knew it. Announcers claimed the linebackers group was the best in football. Washington in the middle. Fun to see.
  11. Read the following quote in Fox's AFC West Offseason review for the Raiders: TEAM NEEDS 1. Offensive tackle: Right tackle Cornell Green needs to be replaced, and left tackle Mario Henderson faded in 2009. Number 1 need according to Fox is to replace their right tackle and that's the guy the Bill's sign. Ugh......
  12. I think what the Bills do with the DL during free agency will drive their early round draft picks. We're hearing that Schobel (if he doesn't retire), Maybin, Kelsay, and Ellis are better suited as outside linebackers in a 3-4 plus there is no real nose tackle on the roster. I would not be surprised if the Bills go defense line early and often and maybe another inside linebacker if these positions are not addressed during free agency.
  13. We're hearing from the Bills that Fitz is getting better and may be ready for Sunday's game. Perry has not talked about the starting QB for Sunday but I cannot imagine them not starting Brohm again. But with our favorite team, I'm fearful that logic sometimes takes a vacation. Anybody else have an issue with Fitz staring Sunday if healthy?
  14. I think that's probably the most important thing to come out of yesterday's game and the game next week - figuring out if they will need to draft a QB early or use the picks on other needs. Given the OL problems, lack of running game, and other offensive problems, we won't know if Brohm is the answer by the end of this season. But I do think we can get a sense if he is NOT the answer.
  15. I like Perry too and the way the team plays for him. But we do know a few things for certain about the Bills - they are not making the playoffs this year, TE and RF are not franchise quarterbacks, TO will not be here next year, and who we draft next year will be incredibly important. So do we spend a high draft pick on a QB or do we wait to see what Brohm can do. Is there enough knowledge about and confidence in the young receivers we have (i.e., Johnson and Hardy) so that we don't use free agent money or the draft to bring in somebody else. I don't think OTAs and the off season can reasonably answer these questions or our starting left tackle would be Langston Walker.
